Top set on the flop

I came to the table about 5 hands before and I was pretty aggressive raising about 3/5 of those hands. Villain is a descent aggro as well.

I would like to hear thought on my turn play especially. I wasnt sure if he had busted overs or an overpair perhaps but I didnt feel I was maximizing my winnings long term by re-reraising. I was gonna check to him if a non-scary card fell but that didnt unfortunately happen. Should I have also bet less, say 30-40 on the river? I didnt re-raise on the flop because I wanted villain to do that, i would've come over the top of him on the flop, that would have suited well both of our table images.

I even cleared the HH a bit Very Happy

I re-raise the turn at the end. You have the near-nuts and a sucker on the hook... make him pay. River is a scare card that caused you to not get paid off, more than likely.

I loved the turn card and hated the river card that made him go away. On turn I thought that if he just had over cards, which was also likely, he wasnt going to call my re-raise, but if a blank hit on river he would probably try to buy the pot on river when checked to him. I guess he might have called my re-raise up to 50-70? with, say, QQ..

With this hand I min-re-raise. He made it 30, I think the min would be 50 to go. The beautiful thing about the min-re-raise is that most opponents feel obligated to call it with any kind of hand, and a lot of them will go back over the top of you because they think it's a bluff (even though it almost never is).

Also - I can definitely see a raise on that flop, maybe to $18 or so. Your hand looks good but there are flush and straight draws out there, and you're keeping a lot of people in the hand. You played it almost like a draw, like you were hoping for the board to pair and make your decisions easier... either that or it was a very dangerous spot for a slowplay. The turn card really made things easy for you. But what if that card is a blank? What if it's a club, especially the 8 or 9 of clubs? Do you change the way you play it?

Sure I change my play there, but I had a read that villain was an aggro making a lot of moves, I really thought he was going to re-raise there. but anyways, I guess I should've played the hand faster. Thanks for the good input dave!

Pot raise the flop when it gets to you, raise the turn ... I think your passive play followed by huge river agression allowed a 6 to get away when a scare card hit the river.
