Took a swim in the short handed 100 tables over the weekend. I was feeling pumped having placed 2nd last week in an MTT. I have played at this limit before but usually play at 50NL.

I thought 100NL plays straighter than the lower limits but these hands make me wonder.

1. Don't have the Hand History.
UTG raises to 4.oo
Im on button with QQ. I call. All others fold.
Flop: J, 7, 2 rainbow.
UTG bets 8.00
I raise to 20.00. UTG calls
Turn is a blank. He puts me all in. I call. I figure hes got JJ and
I'm done but only had about 17 left anyway.
River is another blank.
Im ready to pack it in and he flips over A J. ??

Now I thought he would slow down after my reraise and just check call
me down. Doesnt anybody respect a raise at this level?

Don't know if should I have folded his raise on the turn??

WTF>>>> QJ ??? Now in this case should I have laid it down with only TPTK against all his raising and betting.

I really didn't have great reads on these guys but really couldnt but them no anything execpt maybe sets or a flopped 2 pair.

My Question is are my plays just lucky and will these calls put me -EV in the long run?

There is a fair amount of debate on this forum about the value of TPTK in 6Max. I tend to look more at the player archetype I'm up against when I've got it myself, or believe I'm up against it.

1. You noticed how odd you thought it was for someone to actually make a 4BB raise preflop w. AJ. Well, you might want to consider getting used to that. I think it's perfectly reasonable to call a reraise like that w/ TPTK, but if I felt like you were a TAG player, I would probably call and then go for a check down. If I thought you were a LAGgy player, then instead I would value bet you on down the line as long as you kept calling.

2. That guy just couldn't believe you had an ace, and got caught in a bluff by a hand that was going to see a showdown. Too bad for him, lucky for you Wink

He was semi-bluffing an inside straight draw then tried to bluff a scary looking river where it looks like a lot of 2pair and better hands are beating you. His turn bet sure was pussy.

I wasnt surprsed by the 4.00 preflop raise. I was surpised the didnt stop betting after I reraised the flop and just check/ call it down.
