Hehe...me too...hm. Perhaps u are right. Let me lay out my reasoning then and c what u think...When middle position raised the flop to 400, I put him on JJ QQ or AT. Possibly he could also have 99. I discounted KK and AA because he didn't rereraise me preflop. He wasn't the sort of player to raise AK that big unless they were suited and when the king hit, I discounted that hand. I figured the Kd was a scare card for him, that might win me the pot even if he had QQ. And I figured if he calls the allin with QQ then he'd also call with AT. I was very surprised to c T9. A brave call, but I guess I'd been sort of laggy.
I didn't intend to analyze the hand, but since it started...whatcha all think...am I a donkey?  |

All right. preflop you limp in UTG with an MP Poster.
The Poster raises, and after the button calls-
You limp- reraise to $100 both the MP raiser and the button call.
The limp reraise theoretically says you have a monster and don't mind action.
The flop comes with all undercards, but a possible flush draw. Now after showing great strength preflop, you check.
Most players would see this as a trap after your LRR. looks like you are looking to take the pot down with a checkraise.
MP overbets the pot. This looks like he has a hand that he is trying to protect by forcing everyone out. (I guess he didn't see the checkraise?)
You probably have the best hand, but you just call. Not a "I'll call this net and see what the turn brings" call either a "HOLY SHIT that's half my chips but I'll call anyway" call.
Against most players if you checkraise all in here after your LRR, you take the pot down (maybe even against QQ)
The turn brings an overcard and completes the flush. It also demotes your hand from big overpair to weak-ass flush draw.
Now that your hand has gone down the toilet, you decide that this would be the best time to commit your chips to the pot.
However, unlike the strong flop checkraise after the Limp-reraise, Now what you have is a weak less-than-half-pot "I hope you fold bet"
Getting over 3 to 1 and thoroughly confused, your opponent feels the need to call.
You played it like a donkey, He played it like a fish. This is how we make big pots.

Good analysis. I still think an allin checkraise on the flop scares away the loosing hands and gets happy calls from the winning. Why do I want to take the pot down on the flop? I likely have the better hand. But ur points are valid. I tell u though, to me my flop call isnt a hm..ill c what the turn will bring, but a hm I wonder how I should act to get him allin. The flush hitting isn't bad. He's not on a flush draw--or if he is, I gladly pay him off (his flop raise was so large!), and would have payed him off by raising allin on the flop too. And if I want to commit all my chips after the flop, I have to bet the turn. He will check/call or check/fold this hand when the K hits. And the call/fold will apply whether I bet the turn or river--so why risk another overcard or 4 to the flush.
I agree that I should generally bet the flop (about 4/5 times i would) here. As for pf...I was limping hoping to catch someone with top pair<J on the flop. Then someone out of position raised and I thought the pot was large enough that I didn't mind taking it down there--so I reraised. Also since the raiser was out of position, he'd probably reraise with a monster.
I guess to me once he makes the flop raise I feel...ok, I'm allin on this one, the question is when.
Hey--at least I'm a donkey with a 1k more!
