i play in a lot of 1 and 2 table tourneys at the local bars and they all seem to have the same blind structures....each player starts with 40 chips..the blinds start at 1/2...and they get doubled every 20 minutes...
this means that after an hour of playing i'll have enough chips to raise 5x the big blind if i am able to stay even with my starting chip count. when you are playing in a noisy bar and someone also seems to be holding up the game not very many hands are played in that first hour. so it seems that every the blind is coming around to me once the blinds are at like 8 i go on tilt unless i've got one of the big stacks. i end up going all in on some mediocore hand because its one of the best hands i've seen thusfar. last night i went all in w/ 3 x the bb. i had a QJoffsuit and this guy called me with 64suited...i hit my Qon the flop and he made a straight on the river.
anyone have any tips for playing these type of tourneys? how long do i wait to put all my chips in? |

um, after the first blind raise, your only move is AI or fold preflop.
Shitty format. nh by the bar being able to get people to pay rake for such a shitty format.

| Just don't play these tournaments, simple as that. There are plenty of other tournaments to play especially online. |

| I recommend just looking for other tourneys with better structures. |

AI or fold when the blind is at 4 chips? is this assuming i lost some chips on a hand or two at the 1st level? i realize it would be easier to scare pe0ple out of the pot because when it gets to 8 it seems that whoever the LUCKY one is who has the big stack will call me if they have a face card and they will always win unless i have pocket aces. i'm sure i will get the reputation of a crazy aggressive player if i do this but maybe that is what i want if i like to play a tight game? |

AI or fold mode is when you have less than 10bb, and if you only have 40 chips...you have 10bb....meaning AI or fold |

40 chips starting at 1/2 blinds? LOL
nice starting a tourney with an M of 13, I'd rather play roulette with that money. |

| I'v played ones like these. They're crazy but with the right payout structure can be ok if you don't mind the variance (or the idiots lol). AI or fold is the way to play but if you can figure out who folds to AI's and who calls, thats how you do well in these (that and have some pushing standarts of course) |
