Aaaargh. Microlimit...

Opp was quite loose, willing to limp with virtually any two (I believe as long a mid rank). He'd also bet out. Fairly laggy.

Opp recently won a big hand for this limit and I also beat out a pretty big bluff by another player in an earlier hand (in position, called down an opp who was betting pretty hard, raised him on the river. He showed A9, I beat him with AQ).

I'd normally fold this hand UTG PF but I thought that I'd try microlimit to refine my postflop play a bit as I'm normally a SnG player.

On the turn I thought I'd try to end the hand with the checkraise, esp since the turn probably gave me another few outs.

On the river, my rationale for checking when my card came up - I was pretty sure that my opp would bet and I was looking to checkraise him. I wasn't however prepared for his massive overbet...

I do not like this fold at all...When i first read this i thought it must have been a misclick. Why are you calling and check raising the turn if you don't think your flush outs are good? Unless you can put your opponent on 88 JJ KK, which would be an insane read given that you said he's loose and plays lots of hands...How can you fold this? Do you think he has JsXs or something? I call here every time and hope he has KJ, K8, A9.....Loose people will make this play with so much crap at micro limits, i think you're hand is best here almost every time. I'm not folding this, if anything i'm going AI...Even calling here seems weakish to me. Am i missing something?

Thanks Pat.

This occurred to me and I was going to check-raise the river but I didn't expect such a gross overbet. Calling (or raising) the final bet seems to be excessive given the size of the pot. It comes down to throwing in $4 to chase a $0.64 pot.

Maybe it's best to avoid micro - I'm up but there's too much weird stuff like this.

Better yet, perhaps I would have been better off at least betting the river.

Don't practice there, it will screw you up more than help you. It's only one step up from play money. When you get enough of a bankroll to play like 100NL, then you can do this sort of thing at 25NL. That's when you'll really need to expand your game anyway. Don't bother with micros if you don't have to. It's wacky.

I do recommend going there with the intention of pushing everyone around for no good reason. It's a good outlet for running bad. Like a virtual punching bag. Take grandma's last $2. Yaaaa.
