NL vs LIMIT

Thanks to all that post and reply. Im new to this site and it has been helpful.

Today marks the first week that I didnt have to reload my account!!
Actually am up about 100 plus from last week.

I switched to NL last week and what a diff.

I like it much better, I think you can get better reads quicker on players and it is usually obvious. At least at low limits like 25 & 50. The weakies cringe at raises, the maniacs bet like they own a bank and the solids are usually the ones you find not paying much attension to as they take down a pot every once in a while.

One maniac last night would raise 5 PF everytime he was in a hand. At first I thought he was just agg. but after he had to show a few time ( rags mostly) it was only a matter of time. Me and another guys busted him 2 times each. After he was gone one player said " glad he's gone" I just laughed and typed "not me, gonna miss him". The other replyed " too much raising". Next hand I bluffed him off a $10.00 pot with 72o.

I think its because at NL you have to think about when and how much to bet instead of just clicking the call or raise button like in LIMIT. LIMIT makes it too easy for the players, not as much thinking to do and when in doubt just look to the screen only 3 options to pick from.

Any thoughts on this. Youl NL guys play LIMIT at all?

What Strauss is saying here i think is that limit is mechanical if you have a good drawing hand you will probably stay in the hand because of the limit in relation to your stack, however i no limit people will turn up the heat and get you to lay down those draws/top pair poor kicker.
I am also new to the game, experience of only 12months but lets see what others have to offer.

i can play both but there is a definitely a "switch" you have to make for limit from NL

limit
1. have to gear down, and make lots of small decisions
2. value of intuition diminishes. In almost any pot, there is a correct textbook decision to be made.
3. you won't push out hands, so your middle pair against 6 opponents probably doesn't mean a damn thing.
4. aggression is more important in limit to survive, because you can't score a 75bb win with a set.

NL
1. one critical mistake and you could go broke
2. intuition is very important, especially when the guy across the table has you all-in
3. it really is the cadillac of poker, especially out of the microlimits
