What do you do?
You sit down at a table at which you are an easy favorite to win, and after that, a dude who's used to 5/10 NL joins your 1/2 table (live game, BTW). $25 pot-sized bets are NOTHING to him...and he plays accordingly.
Is it time to go?[/list] |

| $25 pot sized bets ARE nothing at $1/$2 no limit. if you're not comfortable with betting the pot, i would venture to guess that you are not properly bankrolled for the game. |

Sigh.
Chez, I don't know if you're gunning for me or what, but you seem to be missing the point again.
If the pot contains $25 on the flop, and I bet $25, your gutshot straight draw, open-ended straight draw, and flush draw (not to mention your over-pair draw, second pair draw, and trips draw) have just been killed with regards to pot odds. I don't care what stakes you're playing; calling that bet on a draw is a losing proposition.
My point is:
Oh screw it. |

| I think it would be time to wait for a big hand and let slumming guy pay you off big. Doesn't sound like the time to try and play drawing hands to me. |

I almost can't comprehend how everyone dislikes these players. You said yourself that calling a potsized bet with a gutshot is a losing proposition, thus if you are in the hand with him you WIN. When i find a game with these kind of players that just throw money away, i plant myself there until i've got their chips.
You have to adjust your game, but you can and will win alot of money of players that wont fold and call everything. |

| whether he plays 5-10 or not, calling 1:1 bets on gutshots is what you WANT him to do |

Not necessarily. It depends on the stack sizes and your willingness to get it all in if his draw hits. |

people who move down in limits temporarily tend to play very sloppy, because their leaks are totally insignificant to them at this level. they are just killing time. they will bluff a lot more and call a lot more, because they don't care enough about the money. they also believe they are so superior to you that they will play more hands and try to demonstrate fancy post-flop play, disregarding the possibility that their TP weak kicker might not actually be best against your TPTK. in this sense they become pure fish, or even "whales." just play your normal tight game and let them do all the betting if they're overaggressive. call them down with decent hands or draws with correct odds (including implied odds) and fold when you miss. don't leave the table... reload your stack and get ready to rock!

Lets say that chez or I sit down in a .05/.10 limit game, we have the tendency not to give a crap about what we are doing WTF is like $5 to us? It’s not a damn thing, so in this example we would play extremely too loose and sloppy... so goes for any player used to higher levels of play playing the small stakes games...
One example of this is a few of the big MTT and NL ring game players, sometimes you’ll find them on stars at like 4am EST playing .01/.02 PL Omaha hi or hi/lo, if you don’t have a br for like 100nl I don’t suggest playing this game, it’s like $50 pots and crap at times… the one time I played it I dropped like $20 in 20min, I tell you this to make a point, sometimes high stakes players slam it to burn of steam from bad beats or whatever… |

Then, answering ChezJ's question, how do you play against them? |

Exactly. He is not looking at the pot. He is looking at what you have left behind. |

I love playing LAG's.All you have to do is wait for a hand and trap them. They do all the betting,so all you need to do is wait to raise the river. If I could I would always want no less then one in any of my winning hands, and at least 3 at my table(along with 3 calling stations to add to the dead money,2 rocks, and maybe one other shark to help me learn a few new tricks).
It's great . |

They're not necessarily LAG's though, because they won't be concentrating at all...
Against these players you've gotta play straight up, no fancy stuff or bluffs |
