$25 NL
HOLE CARDS:
on BB
5 way limp pot.
FLOP:
I check (should i have perhaps bet to see if someone has the ace?)
next player bets pot: $1.25
folds to me.
He's solid, sitting there with a 250BB stack that he's built up gradually not in one hit. So I think i can out play him for this pot.
I raise $1.75 to $3.
He calls
TURN:
I cant put him on a 7 because he would have only played that as suited connectors and wouldnt have called my flop raise with bottom pair weak kicker. I think he probably has AJ or A10, which is now a split pot with me. AK and AQ are out because he didnt raise preflop.
So he has to fold or i'm either beaten by the rake or i'll get a few cents.
Having just shown strenght with the check raise I bet the pot $7
folds.
TheRoom wins pot $7.02
what would you have done on the turn? |

Bet 5 on the turn.
If you ever check-raise a flop, you have to lead the turn. They'll call the raise pretty loose but they'll fold to most size-able turn bets unimproved. I bet 5 becuase you're not getting called unless you're beat anyway and 5 v 7 is higher EV.

Yeah I get that problem. If I am check raised maybe 1-2x my bet, I normally call it and check the turn and folding to his next bet. A leak maybe..
Does look to me like he maybe hit the queen or had a lower pocket that couldn't fold to your check raise. He could even of had Ax and thought you had improved with the 7?
I like what rilla said, betting 5 on the turn sounds good |

A huge leak. Either call with the intent to check-raise him on the turn or fold.

Don't be so sure he had a solid A, he could have been on a flush draw.
I still like the way you played it. |

Yes, I used to do that same thing. Now if i'm check raised on the flop i ask myself.. Can i call a pot bet on the turn if i dont improve? If i cant I lay it down on the flop. I think if your going to call it you need to be able to bet out out on the turn.. i hate calling without the nuts, want to be the agressor. |

either that or i may reraise on the flop for more info, turning it round on him/her, then they have to really consider how good their hand is. And if they bet hard you can be pretty sure they do have a hand. |

if im in a real camping mode i check fold here [if I have a 7 or lower kicker]
If i wana play the hand I lead out on the flop to see where I stand, its the crucial way to get info - if he raises you need to be vary careful and probly fold.. if he flat calls then play it out from there with a standard increased bet [2/3 pot?].
You kind of achive this 'gaining of info' by check raising the flop - tho he may still flat call to slowplay a monster. With your intentions of outplaying him this may of been a better move - making you look veyr strong so you can lead out the turn |
