| It will keep on growing until all the suckers have lost all their money, then poker will go back into hibernation. |

There will always be a lot of suckers with a lot of money. Even with all the suckers around though, poker will not stay at this level of popularity for more than another few years. |

I don't really see it as a fad like some do... I'm sure there may be a drop off but it won't be crippling, there will always be action. I think what we're seeing is how many people like gambling but don't like:
flying/driving to vegas
being in casinos
higher stakes
The only thing thay MAY stop it would be the gents in DC. |

The future... Beyond the palm pilots and cell phones...
I see glasses that you can wear, with small semi-transparent cards and amounts in the corner of your eye (like a mini-view table) but you can still see everything else that you are doing. (Let's take it a step further and put it on contact lenses...) It's run off of voice activation, so all you have to say is "raise 30", or "fold". This way I can play poker while doing anything, even driving. (Uhhh, a little safety problem?) Now if I can only find a way to still play in my sleep... Oh yeah, my programmable bot can handle that... |

No. The only true opposition to online gambling is B&M casinos and religious nuts.

| just because something is banned in the usa doesn't mean it will suddenly, or ever, go away. just look at napster/limewire/grokster/bitorrent/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc. online poker has a long, bright future. 90% of people are still discovering it exists right now. as i wrote in another thread, this is like where the internet was in 1995. |

| I hope they don't ban it. It would probably be kind of like banning alcohol during the prohibition. |

| Internet gambling won't be banned! They make too much money off it. Why would they want to lose money? I'm sure governments get a lot of tax for the amount certain sites make. Right? |

The gov't gets nothing from online poker. It's neither legal nor banned. It's just a legal grey area.

but how long do you think its going to stay that way? I mean if the government decides to ban it or declare it illegal whats going to happen? I just dont see it being a gray area for a long time. |

the US government cannot ban it. even if they ban it, they cant enforce it.
just like the internet.. they wanted to put legislation in place to control content .. look how far that one got.. the only thing the government is doing well is enforcing child pornography laws.. you can still download any movie, any cd, any video game for free and undetected, and always will be that way. |

| internet taxes haha ... The future of online gambling is that it will not be banned, and it will to continue to grow. People will be gambling forever, it is a human desire. Hopefully poker will continue to be the greatest means of this gambling though. |
