After a rather big web project gave me some money to burn, I figured I'd check out $2/4 for a couple orbits and see how I might fare. I personally am not thrilled with the way I played this. Any critique would be helpful.

Here's my thoughts:

Pre-flop: OK

Flop: Can't put either of these guys on a set, rambler wouldn't overbet the pot with a set and apex would probably raise with a set. So, you gotta figure that TPTK is best. Raise All In to see what apex really thinks of his hand.

Turn: All In.

River: All In.

AK with tall stacks is a tough position to play out. With most of my NL experience on Party 50x BB stacks, I have mixed feelings on every street.

Re-raise pre-flop?

I agree with the mixed feelings. This is the first orbit I'm at the table, so as advised here I ought to be playing tight until something indicates I should do otherwise.

Just calling here gives me very little information. I'm not worried nearly as much by the all-in bet on the flop as I am the extremely quick call by Apex.
Folding preflop seems out of the question, so perhaps a reraise to gain more information is the right play. What do you think is a good amount to come over the top with here? I don't want to ditch too much into a hand that I may need to fold if I get reraised again.

Not sure, just doesn't feel right playing AK without ~10%+ of my stack in pre-flop.

Its a hand that can be played many ways, preflop and on the flop. Only one real mistake I see. You should have bet the turn, probably all in. He's real unlikely to be slowplaying anything here, with the big pot size and the flush draw possibility. I'd either put him on a low ace (scared you have him out kicked), a high pocket pair (which fits the preflop action and check on the flop), or a flush draw, each of which you beat, but all of which could beat you on the river. The check on the turn is serious weakness, in this case. Go all in and hope for a "pot commited" call, since you almost certainly have the best of it.

I personally probably would've played the flop the same way, and sometimes preflop the same way. I'd be worried he had me beat until the check on the turn.
