We might add Aladdin to our Brick and Mortar reviews after our next Vegas trip so I wanted to write about my experience playing there while it is still fresh in my mind.
We played poker at the Aladdin on the last night of our Las Vegas trip. It was on Monday, March 27th. I started by playing in the $50+$10 No Limit Holdem Tournament and it was a lot of fun. During the first hour my chip stack was bigger than average for most of the time until I lost a lot of chips while holding QQ. There was a fair amount of pre-flop raising and then the flop came 5A2. There were many players in the pot and there were more good-sized bets on the flop. I folded my queens and the hand played out until the end. One of the players who had been betting pre-flop actually flopped the bicycle straight. I'm not sure why he risked so many chips pre-flop with 34 but it worked out for him.
After an hour we took our first break. During that time I talked to Boondock and Xianti (we were all at separate tables). At that point I had 2,300 in chips, Boondock had 1,800 and Xianti had 5,300. Boondock and I knew that the big blind would be $400 after the break so we were near push or fold territory. After the break I had K9 in my first big blind hand. The player who had flopped the bicycle raised my big blind putting me all in. I called and he turned over 77 for a race. The flop came K7x giving me a pair and him a set. He won the race with his set and I was out.
I wasn't done playing poker for the night, the tournament was fun but it was time to try the ring game. I joined the $1/$2 No Limit Holdem table for the maximum buy-in of $200. Eventually Xianti busted out of the tournament and sat at my table. Boondock made the final table of the tournament but then he busted and joined us in the ring game. Even though the 3 of us were at the same table it was still profitable for me. Quite a few tourists bought in for much less than the minimum and it was easy to push them around when I had position. One of the tourists sitting near me acted like he had never played poker in a casino. At the end of the night I cashed out with $300. The $100 profit in the ring game covered the $60 tournament fees and gave me a profit of $40 for the night. |
