| Played another 2300 hands since last post, all was going well up to hands 1900, as i was up another 4 hundo, but unfortunately the wheels came off in my session just gone finishing down $340 in 350 hands. Played sooo bad for the first half of those hands, wasn't feeling (and still not) feeling too well but i thought i was ok to play. Obviously not. Lost one 280 bb 3 bet pot which i just butchered i.e. terrible float, then called down when i turned top pair, was fucking dreadful. Played another really weird hand which i dnt think i could of avoided where i flatted the buttons raise with kq in the sb, flop comes k72 2 hearts and this 65 bb donk running 34/24/7 open shoves on me, I wasnt really in the mood to fold at this point, he had ak {acronym renton hates}. Annnyways i gave myself a mental slap and made sure i got my shit together as i could feel tilt creeping in. I basicaly did as I didnt make any big mistakes after, but after a small recovery still managed to lose more after getting rivered in another 3 bet pot by ak, the guys bet sizing was really large for such a dry board (jj22) so i was preety sure i was ahead with 88, i was but when the k spiked on the river i let off a sigh knowing full well he had ak, meh. Ended my session there as i wasnt on top of my game and feeling a little tilty. Gonna quit for today now and start afresh tomorrow, gotta look on the brightside, im still running at 15bb/100 since the new year which is always nice. |

Played a very solid 950 hand session today, best I've played for a long while, obviously hands went my way too but both combined netted me a nice $500 win.
Played a few tricky hands but this was by far the roughest, I guess the rivers a fold but after putting all that money in there it kinda sucks to do so. Anyways villain is a huuuuuge whale running 48/6/0 over 130. He basically limp calls most hands and never ever folds to a c bet, he also calls a ton of turns.

Hero says FUCK!
Hes definitely bad enough to call 2 big barrels with 10x so a str8 is easily in his range, but im getting 4-1 on my money and he does this enough with worse hands/bluffs to warrant a call I think. Anyways Ill let you guys give your thoughts.
Miiight play another session in a bit as i feel fine, plus i feel guilty for not really putting the hours in when I have nothing better to do (other than revise). |

mehhhhhhhhh, Just played a quick and really fucking annoying session. Recently I seem to be crushing early on then ship a ton of my winnings back towards the end. Today was the best example of it as I was dominating after about 600 hands up half a grand then I just run into a few coolers and beats and all the profit is gone before I quit as im tilting. Tbh going over my hands id say $100 was sloppy play but the rest was standard gayness. if you take the final 100 hands away from my last 4 sessions im up an extra $700.
I also realised that hu sngs are incredibly monotonous, the worst one I played was against this guy who never called oop ever, and raised all his btns so I kept min raising my btn and 3 betting from the bb, he then berated me for a few minutes for playing so crazily only to suck out on my tp tk with a gutter and an over to which he answered with a string of 'YEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!' I thought it was quite funny myself. Anyways probs gonna have a showe then play some more. |

Played another 4000 hands since my last update, and have come to a realisation of sorts...I've got to get my vagina under control! Sure, in during the last two days of crap im running -$675 in all in ev but after looking at my yearly graph just now you can really see where my play slipped due to crappy tilt induced play. In my winning sessions I have breakeven to slightly up non showdown winnings, but in the sessions when ive been getting dicked on the line goes straight down, all caused by my inner vagina.
I've never played alot of poker and I have quite a tempremental personality so I'm still no where near controlling my emotions when things go tits up but I have to work on controlling them as at the moment it's costing me alot of money.
I sort of felt an inner carm when I started my session today after the horrors of yday and even though I was down almost 2 buyins within 20 mins (standard cooler and 1 suckout), I still felt good so put in a long session racking up 2600 hands and winning back all the money i lost yday i.e. just over 5 buyins. I feel really confident in my game and look forward to playing tomorrow. |

Played another 3300 hands since last update and up another $400. Things havn't been all smooth sailing though, in my 1600 hand ses today I didnt run well at all running just under $400 below neatural ev, plus even more annoying was I lost a fair bit to guys who were the only reason I was staying at the table, just kept running into the peak of their range whilst I had good hands myself. Thankfully I managed to make a decent clip of the one really bad villain who I had the jesus seat on, he stacked me early on when we got it in on a 993 flop with my kk vs his 77, turn was obv a 7, but from there i just ran the table and completely pwned him non stop reducing his stack from 375 down to 90 before he eventually got stacked by someone else.
Anyways this leads to this hand, villain is a huge nit running 14/12/3 with a 5 % 3 bet over 780 hands, however at this table he was playing closer to 12/8 with a 2 % 3 bet, basically due to me steamrolling the table, im running 33/30/8 over a coupla hundo hands. Normally im 4 betting this pre and insta getting it in but vs this guy Im really not sure, and to you guys who say 'well your playing super agro and u have qq in a lp battle insta shovel, remember that this guy was not adjusting at all and his turn af was really low, like 1ish, thus im preety sure hes giving up with ak.
Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (5 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

BB ($109.05)
UTG ($161.25)
Hero (Button) ($535.15)
villain (SB) ($130)
Preflop: Hero is Button with Q , Q
1 fold, Hero raises to $3, villain raises to $10, 1 fold, Hero calls $7
Flop: ($21) 9 , 9 , 8 (2 players)
villain bets $17, Hero calls $17
Turn: ($55) 7 (2 players)
villain bets $47, Hero?
Gonna post my half month stats and garf in a few days for some inspection, now for some sleep.
edit: Was gonna post this in shnl but looking at it again I think turn is a shove and its not especially close, he may be a nit but he can easily have 1010,jj,ak/aq hearts, stupid tired brain. |

hmmm, don't think im gonna play too much poker for the next half of the month, I havn't played today and am going back to uni on wednesday. Once Im back I have alot of partying to catch up on plus I have a couple of exams towards the end of the month, thus won't have much time for poker. Will try to put a big session in tomorrow but I need to pack so no promises.
The month has been good so far, apart from 1 or 2 tilty sessions I've played really solidly, but im still sort of dissappointed for the amount of hands ive played compared to the time ive put in, I can easily cope with 8 but often I just get comfortable with 4 or 5 and just stay playing that many, for example i've only played 15k hands this month even though ive put in 35 hours of play. I think 25k hands for the month is a fair goal. |

ha well I know I said I wouldn't play tonight but I did anyway as I really felt like playing. Wish I hadn't now as I finished -$420 after 760 hands. I feel fine and have no complaints as I played solidly throughout and barely made any big mistakes, ugly coolers making up the biggest % of my losses. Anyways time for some sleep, feel free to comment on the threads I posted in the shnl forum just now, peace.

wow what a sick sick session. This russian guy appears out of nowhere and starts playing 76/72 with an af of 40 and a 45% 3 bet, I noticed him straight away and quickly searched his name and jumped on his tables or got on the waitlist, good thing I did as almost immediately the waitlist was 10 people long. Ironically enough I only finished up $65 on him mostly contributed to losing with ak vs j10 180 bbs deep plus running the first nuts into his 2nd nuts for a stack. I also ran kk into aa vs another reg at the table to actually finish down $160 to what I was before he joined all the tables, meh :/.
Well I did put a big session in as promised (3100 hands) but unfortunately I got severely pwned all day finished down $550, add ydays crap to today and you have a 1k downswong over only 4000 hands, marvellous! Im still doing ok for the month but its very dissappointing none the less. Im back to uni tomorrow so I doubt iill play much poker for the next week or so, peace. |

| Havn't played in a week due to reasons mentioned above, but my god I wanna play poker right now, yet I have an exam tomorrow which I've barely even started vising for so thats out of the question. Even got up at some ungodly hour this morn to cram like a mofo, was preety tired but I forgot about the monday 8.30am fire alarm which quickly woke me the fuck up, that plus 2 giant mugs of insanely strong sugary coffee. Anyways time to get my revisional groove on, wish me luck. |

update: still no poker, exam went gooot, 4 hour cramming sessions ftw.
A friend of mine who goes to another uni not far from me messaged me the other day saying 'Alex, your a spontaneous person arn't you?' Obviously I am and he proceeded to ask whether I wanted to fly out to amsterdam for 3 days for some heavy partying. Flights were only £55 return so I'm like fuck yeah, lets get our crunk on! So thats gonna be preety sick and were flying out this fri and returning on the monday, flights already booked! Then once I get back evryones exams will have finished and thatll mean non stop drinking for a few weeks, I'm gonna be fucked up by the time my bday rolls around in mid February! |

lol still havn't played any poker since iv'e been back at uni, too busy doing other stuff. Put my deposit down for next years house which im sharing with 4 of my other friends, rent is £72 a week not including bills and the house is very nice, plus it's in a great location, i.e just off the main road so I an easily get a bus too uni , plus it's in fallowfield which is the main studenty area and there's always something interesting or crazy going on.
The Amsterdam trip I took in January was siiiick, had such a good time and certainly met some 'interesting' people. The trip was also paid for with poker money which is cool.
Anyways back to poker I had a meh January, only played 17.5k hands which were all played in the first half of the month and managed to rack up $1.5k in profit including Rakeback, I was up $2.5k but got owned during my last few sessions of the month.
I think getting in another 25k hands this month is a good goal. |

| Deposited $600 the other day into FullTilt so I'm currently grinding away my 100 percent deposit Bonus, only worked off $40 of it so far and thats in 1900 hands at 100nl so I'm thinking ill need to play rougly 28k hands to work it off, shouldnt take too long. Also withdrew $2600 2 days ago which is currently still processing, thus roll stands at only $6000 at the moment. I'm up $260 for those 1900 hands so evrythings still good. Played an interesting session today so i'll post the hands tomorrow as I'm off out tonight to get shitfaced, toodle pip. |

Played another 2800 hands since last update and am up another $1k. added some 1-2 tables into my setup last 2 days and have done decently. Playing very solidly, not making too many mistakes at at all. Managed to get my non-showdown winnings to just below $0 which im happy with. Even though im winning I've run below ev in every session iv'e played in feb, but only minorly, down $275 is nothing really and im just glad to not be running badly. This is largely because my roll was looking a bit bare after withdrawing $2600 ($600 of which was deposited) thus I needed to make some manneys to repad my roll.
Here's a hand that made me lol, not sure wtf this guy was thinking but I like my sexy 4 bet size on the flop, alot of people would simply jam and if i had done exactly that I would have lost out on $150.

Played another 5kish hands since last update, was down $600ish after some standard variance and a few bad decisions in big pots, made that back the next day playing solidly, played another 1200 hand session yday and played really shit for half of it, but still made $75 as I held up in two big pots. Then finally today, hit a nice heater whilst also playing really well, and this is the resulting graph:
Im on for a decent month even though I didn't play for the first week and a half, up $2600, plus $350ish in Bonus and rb thus far, thats come from only 11k hands of play so im happy. Hope to get another 10kish hands in before the month is over, +5k for the month is my aim. |

| Played poorly this morn, made quite a few spewy mistakes :/, that plus top 2 vs bottom set and all in on flop with overpair only to get 2 paired on river equals - $475 for the 850 hand session, meh, just need to play better, my non showdown winnings for the session go straight down. |

| Playing fucking terribly at the moment, i.e. playing oop too much, too loosely, making too many plays and bad call downs, god i tilt myself sometimes, my non showdown winnings have basically nosediveed straight down last few k hands. - another $400 since last update in only 2k hands. Gonna go back to really solid/nitty 18/16 style for a few sessions to get my rhythm back, need to plug the spewage! |

Just played a really good session, probably the best poker I've ever played, was really in tune with what was going on for 3 hours straight, funnily enough I ran like wank but I really don't care, the fact I played well is far more important to me.
I also think I may have found the worst reg I've ever seen, this guy 18 tables yet plays 30/28/5 with a 3 bet % of 25 over 350 hands. He's so easy to play against, pf just 4 bet him super light (he folds to 4 bets a ton of the time), flat decent hands in lp when he is the blinds (he'll squeeze like it's his job) and finally just let him do the betting, when checked to he won't hesitate to fire multibarrels with air. This hand basically sums his horrendousness:
Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $2.00 BB (6 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
saw flop | saw showdown
SB ($152.25)
BB ($214.50)
UTG ($76.10)
MP ($203.20)
CO ($233)
Hero (Button) ($360.50)
Preflop: Hero is Button with K , A
2 folds, CO bets $6, Hero calls $6, 1 fold, BB raises to $27, 1 fold, Hero raises to $60, BB calls $33
Flop: ($127) J , 4 , 8 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $74, BB raises to $154.50 (All-In), Hero calls $80.50
Turn: ($436) 3 (2 players, 1 all-in)
River: ($436) 9 (2 players, 1 all-in)
Total pot: $436 | Rake: $3
Results:
Hero had K , A (high card, Ace).
BB had A , J (one pair, Jacks).
Outcome: BB won $433
Even though it's really late here I'm still feeling good so might put in another ses. |

Gahhh!!!!! I havn't had access to the internet since Thursday due to the fucking connection nazis based at my accomadation. They cut me off as apparently my computer was sending out a ton of signals to other computers etc etc, was possible it was attributed to limewire and other peer to peer transfering programmes but as I don't use anything like that I was a bit lost as to why they cut me off.
Anyways they finally reconnected me today, was looking forward to putting in a big session after not playing for the last 5 days and bam, I try to start up Holdem manager and all I get is this message
'The following error occured when trying to open the datebase:failed to establish a connection to '127.0.0.1'.
Currently searching for a cure on the manager forum and it seems this problem has been widespread amongst microsoft users throughout the last 5 days and is probably caused by some sort of recent download. Yet I could really do without this as I'm a complete computer spaz :/.

Hey. Been reading the site for years now but figured my first contribution should be to help and give a little something back!
I had the same problem and resolved it with the below (taken from the HEM forums).
| Quote: | 1: Go to "C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc" and open the "hosts" file with notepad
2: Delete "::1 localhost"
3: Enter as replacement "127.0.0.1 localhost" (no quotation marks)
4: Save the file
5: Restart PostgreSQL service |
You should now be able to launch HEM properly. Hope this helps! |

Well last night was fun, I'm still a little bit drunk and trying to keep my spellin in check. last 5 k hands iv'e broken even but have played well so I'm not to displeased.
Anyways back to last night: I feel like I have preety good game when it comes to women, I'm not that fond of coming onto to girls so yday was nice as this reeeeally hot girl (like a 9/10) approached me and started grinding so obv I get in there sharpish, then after an 2 hours(ish) of getting with her i notice all my mates have dissapeared and that it's 3am, fuck. So I get her number and walk home. When I return I'm greeted by my friends having a huge arguement with some lads from the ajacent accomadation, I roughly know the guys they're argueing with and it's safe to say they are not nice guys, who are also drunk after going on a pub crawl themselves, the one guy, who easily has 4 stone and 3 inches in height on me twats my friend, I lose it and and end up charging him down, beating him untill im wrenched off by my own group then looking trying to fight with the rest of his friends who by this point have backed away substantially.
Put quite a big damper on the night but I wasn't gonna let him get away with what he did. Apart from that was a decent night and I feel reasonably hangover free (probably because i'm still a lil drunk), gonna play poker later so I shall update in a bit, cheers. |

lol, it's English slang for when someone hits someone else, just feel it's a better more expressive version!
Yet It can even be used in different situations i.e I feel like a twat for even making my last post in the first place as I sound like a dick sack , damn alchohol.
edit: girl was also not a 9/10 like I said above, but was only a 7 or 8, was mayybe exagerating just a little bit... |

running so bad at the moment, down $1600 in my last 10k hands, just shipped $1300 in my session just gone, fuck hats. I feel like I'm playing decently too, bar a stretch of 1k hands where I played horrendously.
So much for my 10k month, I'll be lucky to have a breakeven month the way things are going. |

Well the month is winding down and I'm back home from uni for Easter, and the overal synopsis of the month up to this point is summed up in one word: unsatisfactory. Started off the month very well (obv running like god) then for the next 7k hands I played way better than I had for the first 3k and was broke even (meh, but standard). Then for some reason I started a session and played 600 hands of the worst spewy poker ive ever fucking played, was painful to watch. That unfortunately has resulted in a bit of a downswong over my last 5k hands where I feel I'm playing decently (if a bit loose) but am getting shafted left right and centre. So thus far not including rb and Bonus I'm only up $800 or so in 16k hands which is fairly gash. Hopefully I can finish the month strong at home and make some maney.
Anyways I played my 2nd round match vs jimmy44 on Tuesday and it was a very enjoyable if slightly frustrating experience. It lasted just over 2 hours and in the end he won 2-1.
For the first hour or so I dominating preety hard, playing really well and my big bluffs wern't being picked off, my favourite being a 3 bet pot where I flatted on the btn with 108s, flop came q10x 2 spades and I called jimmy's c bet, turn was a blank, he checked as did i, river completed the flush and he bet 65ish into 120, Obviously he could have worse here but he hardly ever has a flush so if im going to call I think it's better to just raise and try and fold out his better hands that were going for a checkraise on the turn, I raised to 178 and he folded after timing down quite a bit. Had him down to 100ish on one table and 280ish on another then unfortunately I ran into a cooler situation where I raised the btn with kq, jimmy flatted with j9 hearts, flop came k10x 2 hearts, i c bet, jimmy raised and I called, turn was obv the worst card in the deck for me, the q of spades giving me top 2 and jimmy the str8, he bet big on the turn and I shoved to put him in, I didn't boat up on the river. After 15 mins or so I got it in with aj vs his a10 with my now ever dwindling 60 bb stack and he spiked a 10 on the flop, first match to jimmy.
Other big hands of the firs 2 matchs include a a 3 bet pot with me 3 betting 1010, jimmy flatted 44 and the flop was kk4, i c bet and jimmy flats, turns a j, I check, he fires 70 into 120ish and I call thinking he's floating a ton, rivers a j also and we check it down. The other was when I raised k6, jimmy called with j10, flop is k82 and jimmy donk bets, now jimmy's donk betting range, specifically on dry boards was fairly weak most of the time so I call happy to let him bluff off chips, turn is an 9 and he fires again, I call, rivers a 7 and he insta shovels for another 110, I'm not happy at this point and funnily enough I immediately thought of j10, I should have folded but my read was that he was weak all hand so i called, probably a mistake. Probs the biggest hand was when I flatted 88 from the bb, flop was 983 and I just let jimmy barrel every street before I checkraised the river, board reading 983kq, imo the q isn't a great card for me as if i raise i'll get a ton of credit as j10 makes the nuts plus he could always have it himself but I have to raise regardless.
In the other match I just couldn't finish him off, I'd grind him down to 70-120 chips then we'd get it in with my aj vs his aq, qq vs kk, and jj vs ak and he'd double up. I finally won after 4 betting 88 when effective stacks were 110bb, he shoved with aj and I spiked an 8 on the flop, I let off a sigh of relief to finally win a preflop all in.
Onto the last match, by the time it was 1-1 I had a 450 to 350 chip advantage, to his credit this is where jimmy starting owning the crap out of me, he really changed gears and was 3 betting a ton. In the three 4 or 5 three bet pots I actually played with him I lost every one. In the first I had to check fold the turn after a terrible turn card came, I had jj no spade on a q8x9 3 spade board oop with jimmy firing the turn. In the 2nd I 3 bet aq and made a mistake in c betting a 679 no draws flop, jimmy raised and I folded. In the 3rd I flatted jimmy's 3 bet with 78 s, flop came jkk 2 hearts and he checked, I quickly fired out a 3/4s pot bet and looked quite strong but alas jimmy checkraised and I sigh folded. In the biggest hand I'm unsure but I think I got bluffed quite badly. Jimmy 3 bet and I flatted in pos with 54s, flop came 237 2 diamonds and jimmy checked, I checked back as he had already checkraised me once in a 3 bet pot minutes prior, turn was the 5 d's so the board read 2375 three d's and jimmy leads for almost pot, I call thinking he had overs with a diamond alot of the time, the river is a a 3 of clubs i.e, a toal blank and after a few seconds jimmy over bets 225 into 110 putting me all in... I timed right down and ended up folding worried about overpairs but If id been in that position again I would have called and I feel I made a mistake. I also 4 bet bluffed and got insta shipped on to lose another 25 bbs.
Anyways we battled back and forth for another 15 mins or so before he 3 bet me again (for the last 30 mins or so I'd been minraising my btn to limit the effectiveness of his 3 betting), I had a8 and flatted (maybe had reverse implied odds with this hand but he was betting such a high % I called anyway), effective stacks were 115 bbs deep. flop came 558 2 d's and jimmy made his standard 3/4s pot c bet. Now with the dynamic of the match I was fairly confident if i made a small raise here jimmy would ship super light as im repping such a small range as with all bigger overpairs I would 4 bet pre, flush draws I'd raise bigger and with 8x/underpairs he would expect me to just call and see a turn. So i'm only really repping 5x,88 and maaybe aa/kk. So I almost minraise and he insta ships, I call and the river blanks out harmlessly with a 7 on the river, he turns over 77 to win the match with a 2 outer, gg.
Overall was a good tough match that just didn't go my way so can't be too downhearted as I played well, congrats go to jimmy for his win and gl in the next round. |

Awesome summary! I couldn't do it any better!
On the 23753 board hand, calling my bet with 45 (knowing that I was not that aggressive) would be a mistake ...
And gg mate! |

rofl, just played my first tourney for aggggges and got booted out in last place!!!
It was a 75$ buyin deep stack 6 max tourney with 8k for first and I can tell it's not gonna be my day when 2 ftops winners sit to my direct left lol.
Anyways first 3 pots I open with aq, a5s and 99 I all lose, wiffin the board with the first 2 vs the table drooler (I just check down on semi coordinated boards) and the 3rd i c bet a q high flop only to check it down vs qj. I then open a9s from the cutoff, drooler min 3 bets, i call (implied odds ftw) flop comes a93 two hearts, he checks i bet 160 into 220 and he pops it to 680, the thought of aa crosses my mind but fuck it, i have top 2 and blockers to aa bitch, I shovel, he shows AA {acronym Renton hates} :/.
Thought I'd share the brief story of my redabble into mtt's, conclusion: EPIC FAIL. |

I won't hold my breath but my distinctly average month may have been somewhat salvaged by a late month surge. Since I've come back home im up $1700ish in 3600 hands and I still have a day of play left, horrah!
Will post overview of month tomorrow, now im off to relax and watch some t.v. |

God I just wrote this all out once and managed to somehow delete it but here it is again anyway.
Month overview is as follows: 21.5k hands played =+$3800 cash games (90 percent 200nl), +$340 Bonus, +520 in rb and - $175 in tourneys including the FTR hu thingy = $4,485.
I'm fairly happy as with less than a week of the month left I was only up $1.2kish including rb and Bonus. Can't wait for April now as I'm at home over the easter holidays and won't be back at uni untill the 18th so i'll have plenty of free time and little distraction to play a shit ton of hands, 40k hands and 10k in profit is the aim, though I'm concentrating far more on volume than profit as I can't really do much but play my A game and unfortunately variance just doesn't comply with you sometimes.
Also I'm taking my laptop back to manchester with me and will be playing all my poker on it for the forseeable future, thus no more split databases between my l top and my comp at uni.
finally on a random note I checked my tableratings for the first time in a week or so and it seems that the site has gone a bit tits up. I've lost around 70k of my hands that were there last time I checked and thats alot considering I only play 15-25k hands a month on average. Browsing the 2+2 threads it seems alot of other players have had the same problem so meh.
Anyways shall update in a few days to see if my upswong continues. |

QFT
I just started reading, you're doing a great job here and remind me of myself! I started playing in about my 2nd year of uni, and I started with $50. A lot of hours/fun/frustration/cashouts later I'm happier.
I'm juggling studying, partying, girlfriend, going on holidays with my poker and making a pretty good fist of it so it's good to see someone else in the same boat doing good |
