I get where you're coming from about only having limited time to play, but one of the best things for my bankroll was realising that not playing is more EV than playing when my head isnt right just because its the only time I have to play.
Walk away and come back while you still have a roll |

| Ok a shitload of thanks to everyone who has helped me. I am going to watch some videos at Stox from Jared Tendler and just try to focus on controlling my tilt for now. ISF has reassured me that he believed I was playing well in our sessions and that I definitely have what it takes to win at the level. I am going to watch the vids, play 50NL, report back on what I feel like I did well/bad and see if my luck changes. I plan to move back up soon. As for NOW, no bankroll flipping. Tbh, I asked some high stakes regs today if they'd flip and they backed out and am thankful. |

Don't play for a couple of days.
Then play 50nl for $750 - it's a discipline thing and what i've been doing this month (except for more than $750 )
Don't play when your headspace is bad.
Beats happen, sucks that they happened as you moved up.
Don't try to change too many things at once.
Keep FPS to a minimum.
Don't get all degenerate.
Post hands for discussion and without results.
Move back up when you're ready.
Win. |

I still disagree with moving back down to 50nl. Its not a discipline thing for kmind daven, he's constantly moving back down to 50nl. He's only down like 3 buyins at 50nl this month, the 24 buyins he talks about is lifetime. This is just short term variance and some serious tilt.
I still think your serious poker should be at 100nl. You have to start thinking of yourself as a 100nl reg, not a 50nl player playing out of your depth. If you lack confidence or dont feel up to playing your A game, then donk around at 2nl or play a micro tourney or another game or something. This is your chance to beat 100nl and become a reg there and move towards 200nl.
Again though, if you're not right, dont play. Go do fun stuff and come back when you can play your best. |

focusing on beats. The time it takes to post those three hands is the time it would take to properly review 1 or 2 hands that you could probably play better. Or read some useful stuff.
I suggest reading soupie's tourney guide, points 30, 31, 38, 46, 47, 50, 52, 54.
also remember that if you're 20buyins behind AIEV over 40k hands then you should be at least breakeven over that period.
Best of luck. |

True.
Also, I had a nightmare of me miss-clicking and folding huge hands. 95% positive this was just a dream but am checking HEM now.
Also, I finished the day down $15 (well, $28 as I flipped my last $13 on PS) after those beats so I can't complain. |

Ok so the last 2 hands were part of the -$15 day which is actually today (2 days ago I won $200). I also lost a 50% in a 100bb total pot today without me sucking out on anyone. So that plus the last 2 hands have still yielded me a +3 buyin day at 50NL. Sucks it's at 50NL but I am still happy. Could have easily been a +5 day at least. I also have played over 4k hands the past 2 days which I am proud of but it's mainly at 50NL as opposed to 100NL. I have found I can 9 table 50NL with ease without FT Shortcuts or any scripts tbh.
Onto my play. I felt like I made some really nice calls and double barrelled quite well as it's something I used to rarely do. I also completed my first ever triple barrel bluff to success. I'm really excited about all this as I think I'm making a lot better reads. Also, my cbetting game has gotten a lot better. I'm also making better reads on when to float/bluff raise/just fold my air which helps out a ton. I'm REALLY hoping I can get back to 100NL and run good tomorrow or whenever I try again as I really do (knock on wood) think ISF's coaching is kicking in. We're scheduled to have a final 2hr session tomorrow or Wed. Hope it goes well. |

So I told myself I'd win 8 buyins from now until the end of the month. Played 2k hands today and down 4 buyins. Running extremely horrible like normal. Only got a stack once and I played it very poorly. I hit 3 sets, 2 were top sets as the PFR on dry boards and got folds. The 3rd was in a multiway pot and a donk got there after calling a huge bet so I lost a good chunk on that. I lost KK < AA preflop. I lost vs. 82s against a reg. when I raised preflop. I lost a big multiway pot barely trailing in equity. AA was definitely a loser. KK too.
I also played some hands poorly. The hands posted in the shorthanded forum were just 3 hands but would have helped a lot. The second one was the one I won my stack.
Just getting frustrated. Like seriously the shit I see is ridiculous. Players will make HUGE mistakes and still win. Just annoying. And I'm not really buying the whole "good, the more mistakes by them, the more you win" because I haven't seen it much really. I do bad, they do worse, they win. |

Dont set yourself money targets with deadlines, just aim to play good poker every time you sit down to play.
Sounds a lot like tilt in the last post. Yeah its irritating that people can play bad and still win, but thats over a small sample. The whole point of playing well is to win over the long term. The hands you posted in the SHNL forum where pretty bad, and you were obviously tilting in some way at the time you played them. You really need to start (return to) planning your hands. You need to have reasons for betting, reasons for calling, reasons for raising, etc. Pre-flop and on the flop especially, you should be planning where the profit from the hand is going to come from, rather than just reacting to stuff.
Been ages since you did a vid, maybe go back to recording yourself playing regularly. Even if you dont publish any, treat them like you might, and play like you're going to need to explain what you're doing and why you're doing it. |

True. Honestly, the hands posted in the short-handed forum WERE thought out. That's a problem. I just put them on weird draws and only thought on some streets they would continue or based on X bet sizing they'd have a draw still etc. Maybe I'll post a video.
Also, I didn't mean just this session players playing worse I'm talking about my whole career.
We should do another session sometime if you want/can. I still have an hour with ISF plus another with alexos so hopefully they can find some weird leaks but mehhhhh. ISF has taught me some leaks that I have already gotten better at so it's just annoying to continually find shitty spots. I don't really have too much hope for my career and it just sucks. |

I dunno, I keep watching your vids/sweating/reading hands, and overall I cant find any ongoing problems with your game. Tbh I've always considered you at least as good if not better than I am. You do seem to hit more than your share of run bad, so that could be it. You post a lot of hands that are played fine v's ranges and you just continually hit the top of it. Whether thats just exagerated because you post so many of them, or if you run into that a lot more than usual I dont know. I think sometimes you should think a little harder about spots, but thats usually just isolated hands rather than an ongoing issue. My concern would be that after you have some run bad maybe you tilt? Exaserbating run bad with play bad is a recipe for disaster. Also much as you keep posting when you've had losing/bad sessions, it seems to me that you're still consistantly winning on a month to month basis which shouldnt be ignored when you're considering the hope for your career.
I'm pretty busy atm and away this weekend. Got to try to catch up with Renton for the coaching session from his Digest comp soon. I'll be around though, jump on msn when you're available and we'll see if we can catch up and do something. |

| I'd really like to sweat you some time kmind if you're up for it. I want to see how you're dealing with bad beats/coolers and also discuss some hands. The main reason I want to though is because I think I have poor 6max preflop fundamentals (I play too tight) and I think you probably have a much better grasp on them than I do. |

Will do for sure. I think I handle bad beats and coolers actually quite well in game but it does force me to quit my sessions sooner and get to this blog. I really do not intend to post just beats and shit in this blog but literally all month besides a sweat with bjsaust it has been nothing but shitty. I'm going to go for 1400 more hands today to get to 25k on the month but I will most likely stop short again if it continues to just be dumb. Next month literally is mostly 100NL so this hasn't been a great time to ruin my confidence.
Also, I guess it doesn't matter, but when I run "good" it means me winning a flip or two. When I run bad, it means me losing those 70%ers+. I should be happy with this and to an extent I am but on one side it makes it that much more frustrating. |

There's my month. I could post a ton of coolers but I don't want to unless you want them. I finished down 5 buyins in EV. I have one more hour of coaching with ISF left and then afterwards I will play 100NL for 15k hands at least, hoping it's much more. Alexos has offered to sweat me. Ian just now (Da GOAT). Bjsaust sweated me last month for a 2 buyin win at 100NL. Para and I are doing a sweat Sunday. I can't thank you guys enough! My 400NL FR friend is offering to coach me long term as well at both 6max and FR in which I'll profit share with him for a good bit but at a sick price. He's tcblade's protege/good friend IRL as well as Matt Probability's good friend. We met at 25NL and one of us has gone to win probably 50k in profits, including not playing for like a few months at all. I won't say which one. FFS ISF was at 50NL when I played in those games. This is was tilts me to no end. Everyone is either winning at stakes 4 times as high as me or winning more money than I could EVER imagine. This has to make me think something's wrong with me. I feel like I am learning a shit ton and the mistakes I do still have aren't too bad at all but the coolers are just overwhelming me. I mean ffs I was playing variance free poker for at least 2 months straight before last month. I know I can do it. |

Thanks man! Lots of good AND bad (ie me) players know you can dominate next month just get your red line down!
Next month I am thinking I either don't check my BR for like two weeks and/or don't check my EV all month and/or don't post ONE thing about running bad. Thoughts? Any other ideas to get me focused on crushing? |

Yay. But seriously I'm not mad. That's a lie but I'm ok. Literally 3rd hand back to playing in 2 days. Anyways, I plan on putting people on a range on EVERY street. I also plan on studying daily in the mornings at least. For an hour minimum. Every single move of mine will be with a full purpose. |

56 hand, turn bet probably doesnt have much value at all, and you're better off checking back turn and re-eval river. Def bet if he checks to you on turn.
As played, fold to turn c/r and def fold river. |

Not sure anymore. Just got coolered while typing this for another 200bb pot. I reallllly think some of those tilt videos need to be watched. I'm literally sweating from being so frustrated of this crap. EVERY single draw/good card in their range gets there it's insane. AA literally getting all folds or losing to a suckout postflop against a donk. It seems like there really is no end but I have faith and once it does end I'll be a muuuuch better player for it.
Def. agree with c/r river in AQ hand.
Edit. Testing out Poker Shortcuts so wanted to play at 25NL. What is going on?

Down 2 buyins on the day as well as the month. I'm really tired physically and mentally. As in I didn't sleep at all last night and haven't really slept in over a week and a half. I have had a twitch in my eye literally 24/7 since last Friday. My family and gf have noticed it. I'm also having personal problems with something that's been on my mind a lot. A combination of running worse than ever and my personal life has just equated to insomnia. During the day, I've become very lethargic and have become very short tempered when it comes to talking to anyone. Either irl or on AIM/MSN (sorry). Not quite sure how to stop it but it will be stopped. My gf is driving down today to visit me and we should be together for a little bit so I'll probably avoid poker at all costs for a couple of days.
What's bugging me the most by far is that I am learning so much and cannot wait to use the better player in me to only get shitted on and completely doubt everything. I forgot what it's like to win. I honestly have. I'm basically "owned" (in a good way though) by a couple of players coaching me for awhile and it's just so frustrating having them watch me and just say "std" or receiving HH and saying "std". They can't really see many big leaks. I know I don't play that great at all but like I see completely obvious, HUGE leaks at my stakes and it's just getting ridiculous. They'll win, I won't. Not even in hands against me. I'll watch them do the stupidest things against each other but no problem, they're a winner in the long run.
So, yeah, I guess to try to help myself I am going to complete some range exercises for myself and for one of my coaches in which he'll give me feedback on. I'm really hoping it helps and I can learn some things. I'm studying a lot with videos/articles/HEM review and stuff like that too. I have to start my 15k hands at 100NL run soon and I just have no confidence. It should be interesting. I guess now I don't really care about losing a lot because I'm still in the mind frame of wanting to flip $2k. I mean I probably won't flip but I've become numb to everything. Time to stop staying afloat and either sink or swim. |

For what it's worth, I'm a noob. But here's my thoughts, feel free to ignore them.
I don't know exactly what you're going through, because I've never been through such a bad run, so you might think I have no idea what I'm talking about (and you'd be right) but my advice is more general than that.
Dude, it sucks to hear it, but you can't let poker affect you like this. It's a vicious circle. You let it affect you this badly it affects your life, and when you're not good in life you will be on permanent tilt. So you're on permanent tilt so you lose at poker (and it doesn't help that you've been having bad luck), which pisses you off and then affects your life. Which then... well, you get the point.
My advice: take an extended break from poker and just chill for a while, read some Poker Books (I highly suggest The Poker Mindset, if you haven't read it, which by your post I doubt you have), try learning/playing PLO or some other variant and play at uber small stakes for shits and giggles. Just get away from it man, come back refreshed and knowing that you're going to make the best play that you know how to do on every single hand - and anything else is irrelevant, the results of that hand, the results of that session, or the results of the past week.
Also, going into 100NL, a stake harder than what you're currently playing, with the mind frame of wanting to flip 2,000$ is silly. You need to be risk neutral - that is, neither wanting to gamble, nor scared to do it - at poker to win.
Anyways, yeah. Good luck man, I really hope this turns around for you. You know you have an edge over the players at your stake, so you will turn it around. It's just a matter of time and playing the best you can, all the time. |

| Stop playing poker until you get your personal stuff sorted out. Start exercising regularly, and eating healthy. Have fun and laugh with friends. The rest will take care of itself. |
