W/o reads you have to fold JJ preflop surely? I'm not even happy getting it all in on a flop of all unders...
AQ, the problem with bluff raises is they usually require a huge chunk of your stack, which you are meant to be preserving for push/fold. |

Very true. Good point. I used to make these bluffs a lot before I started taking my game seriously. I'd say "he's got f*ck all I'm taking this pot from him right now", then I'd raise and get called then go... "hmmmm, what now?"
I think you have to try and cut these right out of your game unless you have a superb read. |

I've been dabbling into 2 table SnG's, which I have been running pretty well in. Below is one game I think I played really well in during the later stages. A lot of people seemed to be in push/fold mode before the bubble even, which was wierd to adjust to, but aggressive play still works.
At the end I was in the dream place, HU against the biggest donk on both tables (I watched him on the other table and he pulled some stupid shit), but varience bit my ass.
I am not sure on the last hand. I might have been tilting, but opp was pretty tight and respected my pushes, so I figured I just ran into a hand here. Might have to go through SNGPT.

I really don't know what to do about this hand.
Preflop: Folding seems weak, but its not strong enough to raise with 2 limpers beforehand.
Flop: Could be a weaker Q, but could also be A4 or KQ or something and I didn't want to take the chance of raising to 600 to find out because that was a lot to my stack.
Thoughts?

I think limping hands like that are find at these blinds, at 50/100 I probably stop unless I have a bunch of chips and there are multiple limpers already in.
Flop is a nasty spot. You probably have the best hand, but it would well end up costing you all your chips to find out. |

Sucks you hit two pair on that last hand and still lost. I just had the identical thing happen except it was HU  . Villian had same hand to.
Looks ok to me, you probably werent quite desperate enough to push 47s at the end there, but cant blame you for trying. Looks like it was a pretty active table, when you get a lot of action in front, it can be hard to find spots. |

Hand 2: (AJo) Don't you just love when this happens. It's gotta be one of my favorite moments, when you hit TPTK on the river after c-betting the flop and checking the turn.
Hand 4: (A7o) This completion is pretty dangerous IMO and leading that flop is playing with fire.
Hand 6: (AKs) gez, what a donk.
Hand 7: (T9o) Ewww, don't like the completion here either. Blinds are bleeding you and this is spew. If you want to play this I'd say just push and try to pick up the dead money with FE, but people limping with blinds this high I'm always very suspicious of at least one PP, and usually it's a monster.
Hand 9: Gotta love the ol' 74o push. I'd say this is standard, blinds are just too big to give up pushing even this crap. Too bad it's magic wasn't enough this time.

| on your last hh i didn't find many plays i disagreed with. i would've folded in hand 15 considering the stack size of the intial limper. on that last hand, you just have to accept it when you're beat, and with the multiple opps. and no position, you have to avoid playing this further than the flop. |

One major problem I see is that I seem to continue bluffing after my c-bet. I can never tell if they are on a draw on the flop or if they are trapping (or are a calling station that will call anyway). What do you think of this hand?

Is the play at Stars really that insane or is this an elaborate joke? I'm serious! I understand you're only posting a selection of hands but it seems unbelievably loose/wild even if this is turbos. I play the 5.5o on UB often(it jumps from there to 10+1) and even bubble/endgame play is nothing like this. My god! It amazes me that there could be so much difference in similar levels at 2 sites.
That being said, you appear to be winning, at least recently, so congrats. From your HH it looks like postflop play is basically anathema to everyone on that site. I bet if you worked on your postflop play and looked for situations to use it you could cut your variance and win more. I just skimmed most of the HH and have no detailed or scientific analysis but wow! what a ride! |

Can you elaborate on this a little more? What makes it so loose wild? Is it the whole concept of push/fold poker? Or the fact that I am playing donks who are actually that loose/wild?

Not sure how we go about making sure we play HU together, they tend to fill really quickly. Possibly just arrange a private tourney but only have the two of us enter.
Most of that is actually an interesting spot you dont see a whole heap in SnGs, where you both have greater than 10 BB and relatively even stacks. You still probably only play 2 streets though. PF and Flop. Thats what makes 24 so bad. Ask yourself what hands he calls your c-bet with that you have beaten? Give it up on the turn, he hasnt put almost half his stack in without hitting anything.
First hand (22) is obviously bad, but for me its not terrible. You never know if they'll allow limping and its not a bad hand to try it with. Just dont try it again unless you're trapping.
Hand 25 I'm iffy on. Hard not to be results oriented. He has you shortstacked, and last time he tried to complete you pushed over. This looks trappy to me. Turns out it wasnt really (unless he thinks K7s is a 'trap' hand). I'd have been tempted to check here concerned he has a monster and once my Q hits, maybe even c/r the flop.
From then on it looks like pretty solid push/fold poker.
One of the things I found useful, was to learn approximately what the top 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% of hands look like (they're in HOH 2). I probably should memorise them, but a general idea does for now. That helps me with ranges. I then decide given stacks and reads, how wide I'll raise, and how wide I'll call raises. That makes most decisions pretty easy. Add in some simple moves like stop'n'go and go'n'go (which is basically a c-bet but pushing AI on the flop), and barring the very sparse slowplay you're fairly good to go at these kinds of blinds.
I think mcatdog put it best when he reviewed my first HU tourney. HU has a habit of making you look silly if the cards dont fall right. A stop'n'go looks like an awesome move unless opp actually hit a pair, then you look like a f'ng donkey. Same move, two totally different perceptions if you're results oriented. |

I hope you didn't take my comments as a critique of your play. It wasn't intended that way. You play a very different style from me but you look like you're getting in good plenty. It was more directed at the frequency of calls to your pushes. I typically don't see push/fold play at UB until in the money. The bubble usually happens before the blinds are that huge Therefore M is less of a factor.
As to the post flop comment, I'm still working that angle myself. I'm just saying that it looks like in the tourneys you've posted everyone is playing push/fold. If thats where they're comfortable, consider making them uncomfortable by doing something else. If you have position and a hand not worth a push, call a raise and see what develops. Limp and RR with a premium holding. Stop and go. Throw more than one pitch in other words. Making a play that costs a few hundred of your chips but makes them wonder what the hell ur up to can be worth more than getting them to fold.
I hit a stretch about a month ago where I could make the $$ almost at will but could not close out and get a win. Then I started trying more trickery in the endgame. I immediately started winning a percentage of the tourneys where I was 2 or 3 before. I'll post a HH when I have something concrete for you. |

I think I am playing poorly because I am in the midset of being in a downswing and I am playing too fast.
Does anyone know how I can slow down my plays and think longer? |

After 4 weeks I am at the same place I started. I think I am going to take a break for a little while from poker, I might show up here a few times, but overall just chill out and calm down.
My play has gotten substantially worse and I need to clear my head and get back to ABC poker. I am going to read more theory on this game, as well as HOH and TOP. When I come back I think I will be ready to kick some ass.
I don't know when I will come back, but it will probably be less than a month I am guessing.
