I´m quickly starting a new blog/OP. I don´t feel like talking too much about the past months, but for those of you who haven´t read my old blog:
I earned some money, but never got past 1/2NL. I withdrew like 9/10 of my roll and am now starting a regrind from 50NL with like...idk, my BR is somewhere between 1k - 2k. BR-wise I´m gonna take the fastlane, moving up and down in stakes straight by an 20BI rule. I am able to refund my accounts to $1k to play 50NL from the money I took out of the system, which I consider my "liferoll". I´m currently coming off a 25BI downswing at .5/1NL and 1/2NL, of which at least half the buy ins lost were caused by bad play as a result of taking beats. I´ll be playing shorthanded games on iPoker and might start playing heads up again and this blog will focus on my mental state.
I hope that writing down my feelings will help me to get more control over my emotions, make a better judgement about my play (particularly when I´m running cold I lack the ability to objectively judge my own play) and to identify the actual cause and effects of tilt.
Current state:
I´m excited to play, but am too lazy to schedule daily sessions. I really need to work on my time management. A lot of things going on, applying for internships abroad, beginning to write a term paper about virtual power plants, having good times with my boys going downhill mountainbiking. I´m running kinda bad in terms of getting laid, but overall it could be worse. I´m confident about having a lot of fun at 50NL, the first 2k hands were indeed aweseome. .5/1NL games got me psyched out a bit, but who cares? |

Maybe it's because I'm interested in your development. Maybe it's because I want to see you have success. Or it could be that I am very appreciative of all of your contributions to this website.

Day one. 5-tabled 50nl 6m and now that I´m finished I can´t say I´m uncomfortable or upset. No looking at the cashier and I took $won out of HM, but my gut tells me I made profit. I took two beats from shortstacks and had a lucky flop AI w/ AsKh on Ts Js Qc vs Ks3s and I was happy that my hand held up, which I probably shouldn´t have been. I was listening to the new Rise Against LP and had AIM and MSN turned off. |

| Session at 100NL, gut feeling says im down one BI or so. Launched the tables in good mood. physically exhausted cuz i went running for 17km but therefore mentally relaxed. I got frustrated by getting 3bet, not 3betting enough (I hate 3betting oop), not getting action on my sets (at least they didnt get sucked out on) and by an ugly over flush situation. AIM turned off, not responding on MSN, listening to Donna Summer, Doppelkopf and Dr Dre. |

wait is this a gay bot trying to hit on me?
I just finished my first winning session at .5/1nl for like 10 days or so. I was a bit tired because i was working all day. Within the first 20 minutes I paid off a rivered boat, when I slowplayed an overpair vs an aggro opponent whom I figured is more likely to bluff a safe turn and possibly the river than to call two streets. This made me angry. Later on I was doing okay and stayed calm, probably only because of the few pots I won. Listened to Feist and The Sounds. |

Hey Robb, thanks for stopping by!
I 6tabled .5/1 and chances are I made profit. I realized something: there are people donking around, vs whom Id definetly had an edge in a vacuum, but for some reasons such as suckouts or (attention!) "being rewarded for dumb plays" Im tilted towards certain persons. So far I have been repeating "u got the edge, take their monies" like a fucking mantra, but tbh, I dont have an edge being the emo that I am. Today I avoided those players and did well. alright, some more general op things. i dont really have a goal in terms of hands, steaks, winrate or profits. this is just meant to keep track of my mental state and emotions caused by poker. this blop (lol get it?) is supposed to make me reflect myself and to confront me with my irrational acting and thinking. I have been grinding .5/1 and 1/2 for almost a year now and i am confident that i can beat those limits for a decent bb/100. Its the emotions, self leveling and lack of discipline that keeps me from advancing to midstakes.
I have lost a lot of money lately, going thru the old "downswing" thingy and there are players like me who almost double their statistical excpected variance by either tilt spewing or simply playing below their A perfomance. We are creating the downswing ourselves by letting a valid result influence our thinking and behaviour. Get the money in while behind and you know exactly what your equity is, hitting is cool, losing that pot is okay. Get the money in while ahead and you expect your hand automatically to hold and losing feels "unfair". Thats just retarded.
Two things from tonights session:
-If my opponents instantly acts everytime the action is on him i tend to act quicker as i would otherwise. Stop it, now.
-Whats really bothering me is not getting beat, but having my plans counterfeited by the cards. Take this hand:
We have 26/14 CO, who likes to see flops and an 24/20 BB who is known to squeeze a lot. I flat pre, planning on shoving over the likely BB 3bet. In case BB just flats I have position vs two opponents who will play straight forward in a multiway pot and Im up against a fair amount of dominated kings and aces vs a guy who falls in love with tp. So he does 3b, CO calls, which looks nasty, but CO´s range is definetly wide enough to shove over, assuming he´d 4b/shove AA/KK himself sometimes. And I do and own the shit out of him when he monkey snaps AQ. Having my magnificent plan counterfeited on the river made me angry.

Two sessions 100nl yesterday which went cool. I lost a couple of pots but made correct reads and plays. had a buddy sweating me which made it easier to stay calm.
Being a bit tired and hung over today i decided to play 50nl which was awesome and fun and all. i cant tell why its so easy to fold there and to avoid spazzing out. hung over im definetly less apt to get emo in any way. maybe i should drink more. |

Well, it almost seems like that If destiny ever lets you guys travel to northern Germany the drinks will be on me!
Afternoons session 100nl, 6tables. I´m leveling myself less often and am less emotionally attached with more tables and am less FPSy. Swingy swongy, lost two big pots, one with bottom set vs the bare NFD AI on flop, another one here:
Active SB, stealing a lot and I havent done much about it.

Yea, Hamburg is pretty much the nuts in Germany, Cologne/Bonn area isn´t bad either. I´m near Goettingen, one hour south of Hannover. Would be cool to eventually meet an FTR´er irl, hit me up when you´re here!
On todays sessions:
50nl in the afternoon, no emo recorded. Big difference between 50nl and 100nl: peoples ability to pay attention and to adjust. Its way easier to play more extreme styles and get away with it. I could cruise thru the nitty tables there around 30/28 without getting played back at and i can nittishly sethunt the fishy tables and still get paid. No idea about the result, probably break even.
100nl in the evening. 6 tables of 100nl, ez cruising. I bought new martini glasses today and since I have always to try out new stuff I had two or three cosmos before I started grinding. Made me a bit sloppy but therefore I didnt get emo. Fair trade off I´d say. |

Note to self:
.02/.04PLO is the cheap way to spew a lot of buy ins. V funny when u cant read a board and are always guessing why a certain person got ur money. If this prevents me from spewing in my reg games...oh well....I wish it could. |

100nl, 6 tables. I finished somewhere between -1BI and BE Id guess.
This hand happened right at the beginning and it made me angry. To get trapped like that and then spazzing out although I know Im behind of his range makes me mad at myself.

From here on everything was cool again. Later that session I had two different opponents at two different tables who 3bet the shit out me or at least I felt like that. I did not get out of line, instead I carefully adjusted my ranges and got lucky, lucky I outflopped him and lucky he read me as tilting.

afternoon session 100nl:
I came home from power production management class and loaded up 5 tables. Nothing spectacular happened except two set over sets back to back. Immediately quit when I felt the tilt creeping up my chest. GG me. |

Hey dood,

hey,
we havent so far. I´m still on micro level, 5/10 nlhe at stars right now with a few shots at nl25. no tourneys yet, none of the other pokergames. been playing pokahh for something around 4 months now, coming from pocket billiards, as there is no money in it anymore (what a shame!).
cafe del sol...meh..good place to stop when you are on an autobahn trip. they were pretty smart in realizing where to put up their spots ( its a chain ).
howdy, gl in working on your tilt-resistency; i`ll keep on peeping!!!

Yea, there are two more around here, but way smaller than the one at the A7. You got msn/aim?
Todays session:
8-tabled 50nl in the afternoon and broke even. 4 tabled 100nl in the evening and broke even. Nowadays people like to c/c three streets with a flopped set. Thanks guys for not taking all my money. |

| Meh, session 100nl on Crypto. I lost a good chunk of buy ins in std cooler situations QQ>AA, KK<AK and flopped trips vs the made boat. I made some light call downs after that for no apparent reason and then quit. Session 2 will be on 50nl. |

| sesh 2 went awkward. I was autopiloting and playing bad, but managed to catch a hand in the right spots. I had a weird player on two tables who, over a sample of 130 hands tonight, ran 30/27, folded 20% to 3bets and 4bet the remaining 80%. V frustrating when someone 4bets a ton, but folds to your 3bets when u have the goods. That guy made me mad and I quit before I could tilt ship my stack. |

Two sessions at 100nl today.
- Its so damn hard to follow the action on Crypto
- Emotions have not been recorded, neither has been thinking
- I´ve hit a turn and river now and then and it makes me feel. I will not allow myself to get used to this. Just as I ran bad before, todays session have been above expectation. I must be aware of that. Neither do I allow myself, to construct a run of this, like "oh Im on teh upswong again". Im not. There is no swong.
- I put a huge cooler on another reg

And so I got wasted on Fri and Sat. Lots of fun, lots of beer and a girl Seems like the tide´s turning.
According to my huge level of being hung over yesterdays session went good and non tilting. I was playing on Crypto and actually found the worlds nittiest tables. I autipiloted along for an hour until I realized, that that would be be at best vs those guys. I opened up and didnt get played back at. Only adjustements made to me were slightly opened calling ranges oop, which made go for 3 streets of value w/ TPTK. All in all a good player could have made many monies there, I finished be or slightly down. I´d post some hands, but dont have them here in the lib.
Love, Toto |

Its amazing how fast a blog moves down in this section.
My BR hit the $4k again tonight and I´m gonna start taking some shots at 1/2nl again. I dont know when I´ll get to do that, since there´s a lot of work to do atm.
Uni has begun again, I got some classes with compulsory attendance, I´ve finally picked a topic for a termpaper in engieering, doing some research for the "virtual power plant" project. Its interesting, but unfortunately there hasn´t written much about the aspects of local power and heat production and so I´m gonna spend hours and hours in the lib, analyzing load curves, price structures and whatnot.
For the past days my daily poker schedule conatined one session at 100NL and, after a break and one or to drinks, another session autopiloting 50NL. I´m brain dead cruising thru the 50ies and run pretty good. Could be I´m pwning the shit out of those games, but then it´s hard to explain why I sucked so bad 100NL lately. Anyway, 1/2 may take a while, since I dont want to play these tired or tilted.
I´m playing the 100NL on Crypto and 50nl on iPoker. I moved 1k or so to Crypto, because I need a new iPod and to have an account with RB when they decide to merge with party next year.
Regarding my emotions it´s all been good. This hand from tonight

would have made me mad if it had occured on another day. Tonight I was relaxed and didnt care all that much.
I would post a graph from October, if only could find out how to merge my different screennames in HEM and generate a graph for all those accounts together. Help appreciated. |

| Options menu, "player aliases" is first item. Search for your screen name at various sites, and add them. When done, go to cash games tab. The "change" button is to the left of the "refresh" button. Click and set to alias just created. |

Thanks for your help Robb. I created the Alias, but for some reason wont HEM show a graph for it. Weird.
I had a cautous look at ipokers 1/2 games this morning. Result: In the AM its an incredible nitfest and everybody is 8+ tabling. Prolly a profitable short ball game, unfortunately did I have to quit after losing this flip

Not that it phased me or anything, I´m just following a strict one BI stop loss when moving up. Then I went over to Crypto, where the games were crazy. Very few games were running and I had to play $, £ and EUR tables. (ok, £ works, how do I make the euro sign?)
This hand was close to the end of my session and since I got to stack two guys before I didnt get angry. I think its a £ table

Dunno about that. I do know that the filtering/settings on the graph screen are independent from the cash games tab. Maybe reset to point to your alias there, too? GL |

Nevermind. Since the other account is on Crypto, where I´m playing $, £ and EUR games its okay to have those hands seperated.
On last night:
I did exactly what Robb was rambling about in his last pots. Coming home from uni, watching some TV, having dinner and a beer and then autopiloting 8 tables of 50NL and 100NL. From a pure poker perspective this is definetly not the highest ev and maybe even -ev (tho I doubt it with those huge fish spewing around last night). The fact that I again was playing $ and £ games, 50NL and 100NL, 6max and FR at the same time didnt increase my performance.
But: From life ev perspective I´m cool with it. I had a tough day and just like watching porn or TV in general autopiloting and clicking buttons has a recreational and relaxing character. Nothing to be proud of or to do frequently, but now and then you shouldnt be so harsh with yourself, its fine to play a couple of hands without being pressed all the time to make the Absolute top decision. Allow yourself some mistakes and sloppyness from time to time, it definetly helps to keep the tilt monster outside your room.
So, people were doing weird stuff yesterday. Like this guy, who suddenly began to 3bet me a whole lot, when I decided to throw in a pure 4b bluff. Usually I´m done with my hand when someone flats a 4bet and just c/f any missed flop, but for the love of god I couldnt resist raising such a tiny flop bet.

I was actually tarping the squeezy BB when I got the best flop possible for the hands involved. This makes me feel really upset. You dont get a nit to stick it in w/ TPTK all day (his nitiness being one more reason to flat him pre) and then....meh. I hate it, I hate him and then he hits and runs WTF?! Its funny how tight players sucking out on me phases me a million times more than a donks K2o catching a 2pr by the river. Prolly because its so rare to get it in way ahead vs the rock and I feel like the long term story doesnt apply here b/c he barely gets the chance to do dumb stuff like this. I hate it. Fuck him.
I´m gonna get wasted now and if I cant manage to pick up a blonde big breasted freshman (do you say freshman or is there like a freshwomen?) female, girl, whore, name it whatever you like, I´m gonna post here again and reflect my feelings with the vodka flooding thru my body. Maybe I´ll gain a deeper inside from doing so.
One love, Emofish signing out |

I share your pain! The other day, I got my stack on the turn vs a 3bettor nit with a set vs his overpair and the river gave him the over set ...
You can play well and get stacked, afterwards you need to continue to play emotionless! I feel, this is one of the most f****** difficult thing in poker.
Hopefully, these experiences will make us stronger (or kill us!! ) |
