So I've been screwing around with my free 10 bucks at Royal Vegas in the .05/.10 limit. I was down to under 5 bucks after finishing 4th in one too many SnG's, so I decided I'd try microlimits. I was doing all right after about 24 hours (about 4 of which I was playing), up to 12 bucks-ish. So here's the most irritating hand I've ever played, despite the small stakes:
I'm dealt cowboys. I raise on the button, and I get a caller and one raiser (neither in a blind). I reraise, both call. Flop comes down A 2 9 rainbow. I bet to see where I stand. I get a call to my left, and then a raiser. I call, other player folds. Turn comes down K. Nice. I bet, get check-raised, raise on top, and that goes on until we can bet no more. Now I'm thinking he has 9's, but who knows what people are willing to do with these limits (I still try to play as I would in a higher limit game, but I subconsciously take a lot more risks, obviously). River comes down 5. No flush is possible, so he bets, I raise, and that continues until the showdown, where I flip over kings, and he flips over his beautiful 3 4 of diamonds. I promptly stopped playing, because even when I've lost under a dollar, I'll tilt after a hand like that.
When I got back, I played a 1-on-1 $1 SnG thingy against the same person (he invited me, I think because we had chatted a little in the room earlier). When he had about half my stack, I had 8's and he raised small before the flop. I called, flop comes down 8 J 2. He says "do you know what ducks are?" Now, I didn't appreciate the mockery, but I just said "what?" and he proceeded to bet out large after my check, which I called. Turn comes Jack. I knew what was coming, as he goes all-in, I call, and I suddenly felt a lot better. Of course I know what ducks are! |

We've all been there. I had a one guy rasing and capping it all four rounds with 34 spades when the board was Ad Ks rag-offsuit. He hit is back door flush to beat my flopped trip Aces, other than the stupid flush my AA was nuts. Put him on your buddy list and play him regularly; he's your new ATM. |
