I dont know if anyone else out there is a fan of comedian Mitch Hedberg, but on my way to work this morning i heard on the radio that he had passed away in his hotel room. I cant seem to find too many details on the web about it though. Might still be too early i guess. Anyone know any details?
But if you have never heard Mitch you are missing out. Absolutely hilarious live. He has several CD's out so im sure you can find them to download somewhere. Check him out you wont regret it.
In honor of Mitch today i will be leaving work early, go home and listen to his CD's and have a few beers. |

Damn I hope this isn't true. That dude is one of the funniest comics I have ever heard. Long car rides go by in a flash when you listen to that guy, even if you've already heard his routine fifteen times.
Some of my favorite "Mitchisms" --
-- "I went to the park and saw a kid flying a kite. The kid was really excited. I don't know why, that's what they're supposed to do. Now if he had a chair on the other end of that string, I would have been impressed."
-- "I was at the airport and this guy came up to me and said, 'Hey, I saw you on tv last night,' but he did not say if I was any good or not. He just told me where I was. So turned away and about a minute later I turned to him and said, 'Hey I saw you at the airport about a minute ago......You were GOOD.'"
-- "The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how much I play, I'll never be as good a a wall. I played a wall once....They're relentless."
P.S. If you've never heard Mitch do his routine before, some of the above stuff won't be funny at all....He makes unfunny stuff FUNNY because of the way he delivers it. |

It just occured to me that April Fools Day is tomorrow. It wouldn't surprise me at all that Mitch would "die," then he'd come back the next day and say, "HAHA, FOOLED YOU, HAHA!"
I haven't been able to find it anywhere either, Gabe. |

If 13 is unlucky, then 12 and 14 are guilty by association. “I saw you 12; you were hanging out with 13.” “No, I wasn’t, I was with 11, you need to talk to 14 about that shit.” “What you got to say about that 14?” “Me divided by 2 equals 7. Alright, I was with 13. Shit.”
I don't think he died....he better not have. |

"I had a bag of fritos, they were texas grilled fritos. These fritos had grill marks on them. They remind me of something, when we used to fire up the barbeque and throw down some fritos. I can still see my dad with the apron on. 'Better flip that frito, dad, you know how I like mine.'"
"The next time I move I hope I get a real easy phone number, something like 2222222. People will ask, 'Mitch, how do I get a hold of you?' I'll say, 'Just press two for a while, when I answer, you'll know that you've pressed two enough.'" |

How... have I never heard of him?

Oh, I know him.
I've seen a few of his standups.
His jokes are funny but his presentation is off.

His deadpan presentation is the best thing about him.
"My sister thinks I'm wierd. But I realize that she's the weird one. She has a family, and a picture on the piano with everyone looking slightly to the left. I wonder what they're looking at. And if it's so interesting, why don't they take a picture of that?"
I am on a mission to check his status. I'd hate to find out he was no longer. |

If it happened to be an April Fool's joke, the joke would probably go something like:
<mitch>I thought it would be funny if I faked my own death for April Fool's. It was not that funny, but my mom was sad.</mitch> |

"Y'know I order a club sandwhich all the time. And I'm not even a member. I don't know how I get away with it.
- I like my sanwhiches witth three pieces of bread.
- So do I. Lets form a club.
- Okay, but we're gonna need more stipulations.
- Yes we do. Instead of cutting it once, lets cut it again. Yeah, four triangles.
- And we shall dump chips in the middle. Let me ask you something, how do you feel about frilly toothpicks?
- I'm for 'em!" - Mitch

Yeah man, sucks that it's not a joke.
What sucks even more is that he was at the Uptown Theatre a few weeks ago.....which is like three miles from my house. I thought $70 was a little too expensive for me and the GF to go see him.
Now he's gone.
And to top it off, I've averaged about $50 per day playing online since March 10th (I wasn't playing ring when he came in February)....so it wouldn't have been a big deal at all. |

I was at that show man, me and a friend drove all the way from OKC. I have read that at some of his later shows he was too drugged out to perform. Not the case at this one he killed. Keep thinkin its a bad joke but as the 1st passes it kind of sets in. Rest in Peace Mitch.

| Great how so many people people can contribute to a thread about a second-rate comedian, but no one says a word about the pope about to kick it. Then again, the pope has been on the verge of croaking for the past two decades. Regardless... |
