Miff's luckboxx drive to 400nl.

Over the last 12weeks, since i got a job my bankroll has decreased from $41k to what is now barely $18k.
Fwiw, i dont have a PT graph to show, i had to reset my laptop and didnt have a backup so i lost like >400000 hands from my db since august.

Ive posted in various threads that when i quit uni i went full time while i looked for a job and ran disgustingly good at 200nl and made the swicth to 400nl at 16k and have been playing at those games nicely since.
I also took down 5k in a Prima tourney and was seriously thinking about going pro for real and playing 3/6nl 5/10nl.
However i got a job and have been just been getting hands ever since.
But i have been running god awful, like AA cannot win in a reraised pot and hasnt won all in preflop for 22k hands.

The simple fact of the matter is that i can no longer argue it is variance. I am doing something seriosuly wrong with my game. Yet i dont think i spew to badly and when i play a laggy game i run over tables easily. But when i move to TAGG its just like i cannot win a showdown to save my life.

So, after my initial moan (feeling sorry for myself time over) i have decided to start an operation.
I am going to withdraw all but 1k of my br while i try to get some confidence back, im going to log into PokerRoom with that 1k and start playing 50nl.
My operation is simply to get 10k hands in per month and too see where the hell i am at the end of 10k hands.
Im going to post all HH's in this thread, and im staying away from what has become my primary games recently, PLO and 5draw.

Anyone who has any other suggestions please post, i really coudl do with some well wishing right now.

man you should at least start at 100NL. why not just start with $2500 as your BR???

unless you've withdrawn your BR for a reason i dont see why you dont start there. 100NL isnt far off 50NL at all. a bad run has affected you confidence WAY to much.

Sorry to hear about your downswing. I agree with Da Goat though, you should move down to 100NL, not 50NL. There's a big skill difference between the two imo, but since you've been playing 200 & 400 recently, I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, if lagging it up works for you, why try to force the tag game? Use whichever the players at your table dictate.

Hence, i check the river to push because no way is he getting away from a jack on this board IMO. I feel in this spot that the money made from c/r all in versus a worse trips/boat outweighs the value i might get from betting here versus a medium pp/Ax and gtting a call.
A decent player may get away from KJ/QJ but thats yough considering my sickish river line.

Opp was unknow at this time, but turned out to be a super fish i had position on.
According to Caro (plz dont kill me fnord) when an opp insta-checks when a danger card hits, he missed. In other words youre free to bet. The reasoning is that playing against bad players, they havent thought out a line they will take if they hit theyre draw, so they need time to think about what they are going to do. (anyone who has seen soupie play online knows he is the master at this, you get no information from the time he takes to act) Hence i shoulda pushed this river and hoped he called with what i guessed was KQ/KJ. Had no idea what he had on flop but showdown is cool, wasnt far away.

Easy boat to play. Called on the flop because i want the flush draw and the trips to come along for the ride, once i figured out who had the trips it was easy enough to grossly overbet my hand to get a call. (P.S lol@one outer flop.)
fwiw, these games are soft and im playing passive preflop games so no need to raise 77 preflop without a good reason as players are stacking off quite light as ive demonstrated.

Preflop is iffy, but im playing with the super fish who calls from the sb so i cannot risk not seeing a flop here. I made a decision on the flop that the shorty's insta-bet meant he was felting any cards he was playing, hence a AKQ free turn i was betting/calling a push as i liked my hand.

Fwiw, currently running 30bbs/100 (15PTbbs) so running damn hot, which makes a change.

Hand 3: 77 on a 722 flop. The turn I dont understand a call, you said to get the flush/straights to call along -- but... wont they call a small bet anyway? Would you consider a minraise or maybe just a little bit more? Make it like $4?

Then you say it was easy once you knew who had it -- howd you know? Or is the river just swinging for the fence? And is that preferable over a valuebet?

Hand 4.. short player... c/r flop AI?

Hand 5.. no cbet.. why? pointless because of villains propensity to call with near any two? My normal spot would be to freecard this one by cbetting like 2/3rds pot and then checking through turn. Is that / how bad is that?

in 3, i dont want to tip that i have at least a 2 on the turn because i want whoever has it to bet the river so i can push or for the flush draw to bluff and cause the 2 to raise so i can push easier or so that everyone will check to me so i can bet/push looking like i missed my flush.
The point of raising the turn is that everyone will probably check to me on river meaning ill bet pot and get called, possibly raised by a boat (but you know how passive fish can be with the nuts) so if i just call i encourage those showing aggression to continue to do so and for those who think they can bluff it to 'have a go' at a bluff, so to speak.

Hand 5 is just bad.
I should have c-bet and shut down on turn where im beating nothing, my problem was playing a big pot oop. I played his horribly, if id c-bet and folded thereafter it would have been fine.

Hand 4.
If id have been sure he didnt have KQ id have shoved, but on the flop im a dog/ 55/45 versus his suspected overs. On the turn when its blank i can bet/push because hes a dog at that point.
Normally this flop is a fold i think compared to opps stacksize and raise range preflop.

This station was totally owning me, i couldnt win a pot to save my life.
Obviously i check flop because i dont want to get raised off a lot of outs so i check, i also felt i could rep a lot of turn cards. I promptly did and decided again on river id either get called for all the chips by a bad player or wouldnt. Id also bluff like this. Guess he turned up with a real hand and got wtfowned. gg gutshoted.
Id also note, opps river check means hes c/c'ing c/f'ing or c/r'ing hence i think hes more likely to check/call a real overbet because it looks so bluffy (stack sizes being unimportant to 50nl players mostly)

i thought he would bet the turn for me so i was going for stack a donk, but he didnt so i knew if i potted the river id look bluffy or get called by tp a whole lot.

This hand is worth posting i think. Im guessing he has a flush draw or tp on the flop. My turn bet is for value but it ensures that if i get raised folding is easy. I felt betting $20 on turn priced me in to calling pushes or ANY river and i didnt want to do that. I didnt like the jack because i felt he could have QJ here a lot.
On the river i know everything got there but i priced in a flush draw and its worth him betting to win this, i could easily have a flush draw here too. Saying that i should be more inclined to call a push but fold to a real bet like this. Meh i felt calling was good folding bad but open to opinions.

Because he doesnt raise preflop and its HU i think jack high flush always good here, thats why when i bet 25 on river i expect him to push, didnt see he had a few dollahs left but meh. Right, ill be back to 100nl permanently from now on as i'll have 2k soon enough.

How do you decided to move up? BR management or confidence? I still play $50NL shorthanded because I only have $2500 and have read that 30x buy-ins are recommended. However, i tried the GBP50NL tables on Crypto last night which is closer to $100NL and my VPIP has dropped from 21 to 16.

ive played upto and including 1000nl so im happy i know how the games play. Im also happy that at the moment i am playing albeit slightly nitty/TAGGY poker for me, i am playing good poker, with the exception of about 4-5hands.

100nl doesnt play much different from 50nl really, other than you find some definite long term winners and a few more campers.

Well if i were to post my PT graph now for the end of march it'd show me up $705 at 22bbs/100 over 4.2k.

As noted on my op thingymajiggy im going to play 30k hands before i even think about adding my 18k roll back to this one.

30k @ 8bbs/100 @100nl = $2400

SO i should add another $1940 to my roll

So, goal after 30k hands of 100nl (going to take nearly 2months WTF badbeataments!) is a BR of $4200~ +bonuses+rb.

Ill add my 18k cashed out roll back at that point but i need to try and remember wtf made me a roll in the first place.
