I've heard it said that live cash NL games play at about the level of online games with 1/5 or 1/10 the blinds.
Read: Live 2/5 plays like online .25/.5
I was wondering what you SNG geniuses thought the comparable levels were in SNGs.
I'm a cash player but I yearn to play live games, and here they don't deal them. I can get in some $120s at the hard rock tampa, that's the lowest limit they have, and wondered what level of SNG online would be similar.
I would think that being the lowest limit it's going to attract a mix of bad players and good players without much money.
Also, is this structure good?:
10-seated, one table tournaments will be held here every day all day.
$100 buy-in plus a $20 entry fee
1st place: $450
2nd place: $300
3rd place: $200
$200 buy-in plus a $25 entry fee
1st place: $950
2nd place: $600
3rd place: $400
$500 buy-in plus a $35 entry fee
1st place: $2,450
2nd place: $1,500
3rd place: $1,000
$1,000 buy-in plus a $50 entry fee
1st place: $4,950
2nd place: $3,000

That comparison doesn't really work. The games aren't necessarily easier or harder, just a whole lot different.
The rake is about double in card rooms. If you're talking in terms of earn, and you say a fairly competant tight player can make 5bbs/hr at a $25 game online, and they make the same at a $100 buyin in a casino, they'll be giving an extra 2.5 bbs to the rake.
Also, there are different player types. The old stud players you find in NLHE games in card rooms dont play online. The kids and 30-somethings with money to burn are only playing for respect. There are people playing to prove they can keep reaching into their pocket. There are also people who can read online sharks like a book. Trust me.
I'm in a cardroom 4 times a week or so, and I've never played an SNG there, because I make a fair amount in the live games, and the rediculous vig turns me right off the SNGs. It might be different where you are, because you wont get too many sharks in a spot with no side action. Let us know how it goes. |

I would consider myself one of the better players were these games cash. Also, I'm not worried about the cash rake because they don't deal cash NL.
I'm not worried about player types, or spotting good players. My NL game is going to be one of the top games in this card room, I assure you, although probably not my tournament strategy.
I'm strictly wondering what you figure the game skill-level would be closest to in terms of buy-in before I fork over the 100 bucks. |

I'm thinking with no good live action around, the players will be inexperienced. Taggy FTW. I wouldn't do well because I always revert to over-agro when I get bored. Agro gets me broke against donks.
You'll probably see someone call AI with AJ on the flop unimproved because it's 'a good hand'. |
