I would like to play semi-regularly at my local casino. It offers a 1/2NL $200 max game that I would play in. What are the usual bankroll guidelines for this limit?
Is it pretty well the same as the online requirement would be for the same stakes? is it smaller or larger? if so, why? |

there's huge variance involved in loose live games, so i think you need larger BR than online to play 1-2 NL live. Keep it in mind that its easily down a few buy-ins vs casino donks / gamblers in multiway pot when your overpair got cracked by flush/gunshot/weak two pairs loose chasers. Also, you need to raise 6-10BB to thin the field in some loose passive games and spot some obvious Poker Tells at the table
by the way, i really played a mix of live and online poker fulltime and brought in at least $1k cash whenever i popped into my local cardroom |

| Worth remembering and reminding yourself also that a 5-hour live session with 200 hands has a variance that is not really comparable to a multitabling online session with a couple of thousand hands. It will appear higher variance, but it might not actually be higher variance. |

| another thing is that you need strong poker discipline and huge patience in live games. Yeah, your patience will pay off for building your huge live roll over the long run. Good luck, buddy. |

Not really.
Live can play bigger than an online game with the same blinds, creating bigger swings, however the play is so terrible that you should have a considerably bigger edge. |

By setting a stop loss like 3 buy-ins in NL games, we can justify walking away from the table. On the other hand, i like Ferguson 10% Rule " if any time during a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game session my money on the table represents more than 10 percent of my total bankroll, I must leave the game when the blinds reach me".
