So i go to pick up my check from work today and find out that I'm laid off.
The soonest it's sound like i'll be going back is the begining of Feb.
The job sucks anyway ($10/hr 35 Hr weeks = about 1200-1300 a month , so yeah BLEH)
With this happening i've decided i am going to put in crazy volume in SNG's.
I just hit the mark where i wanted to have to move up to the $16s but unfortunatly i think i will wait until FEB to do that since i know i can run about 10%+ROI at the 6.50's and do not want to go busto at the 16s or run the risk of losing a lot of my BR (and i have to withdraw about $150 to take care of some debts)
So this might sound crazy but I'm aiming to play about 5hrs+/day for the entire month of January (So 35hrs/wk , maybe less if i add more tables , I'm currently at 9)
I want to play 2000 SNG's in January.
I hope to run something like 10-12% ROI.
If i do this i think i will make Plantinum Star on PokerStars which would be cool too.
I will move up the $16s no questions asked also if i accomplish this and quit being a br nit.
GL ME.
P.S. I should buy a stressball or something i can safely punch since i have a feeling this will be very very stressfull. |

Ugh that sucks man, sorry to hear that
Challenge for you though - to see whether you can make more in the next month through playing SNGs than you did at your job! If you can play 2000 SNGs at a 10-12% ROI you should do it. Good luck (or should I say, good skill) and look forward to seeing your posted hands! |

Detroit, since you are doing this for a living, you really need to have the right mindset. I do not know if I can really give you advice on that, but recently I have been playing a lot and had a terrible downswing. I have been playing very good imo, though, and I was saying all the time "Yeah, if it weren`t for luck, I would beat all of you, donks". However, this didn`t make me feel good. You really need to let go of any bad feelings when you got in with the best of it on the bubble and some idiot got lucky. A possitive mindset is vital for you. As I said, now I am experiencing 20-25 buy-ins downswing and at the beginning I felt terrbile about it. Recently I started looking at it at different angle - "Well, all I can do is play my best, and hope for the best" and that realization was crucial for me. I started to feel good, play poker with pleasure again even when I get unlucky. A stressball will not be very useful imo - you just need to look at poker at the proper angle. In those 2000 sngs you are planning to play, you are likely to go on some sort of downswing and you have to stay cool about it. Anyway, I wish you to get in with the best of it and stay possitive even the times you do not win |

| Did you read The Poker Mindset that mattiesmat recommended? If you're going to do this full time for a month you really really should. |

Awesome news mate!
I mean now you can make a lot more (in a little while) playing poker.
However prepare for sick variance and awful bad beat streaks when you are going to put in massive volume.
Also 2000 SNG's is really a lot.
I play 1500ish and I play quite a bit (not a lot tho).
You should really get TPM as Taipan said and you should make some (financial) plan, since you will have bad months. |

GL! You can buy the stress ball from the PS FPP store so you can torture the hell out of the PS logo when your aces get cracked by some superuser dude holding 72o (obviously)
it's like 400FPPs |

Thanks for the comments and support everyone.
I will see if my local bookstore has The Poker Mindset this weekend.
I already spent my FPPS on Tournament Poker for Advanced Players and now only have around 1500. They jacked the price up on poker mindset (from something like 1500 to now 2000 fpps) so meh.
Not gonna play much this weekend , just enough to get me to silver star by the 31st and gonna spend my remaining time reviewing ICM through wiz. |

Only just seen your post as I've been doing a bit of drinking.
Sorry to hear about your job, my job may be going the same way very soon. I had The Poker Mindset as a Christmas present, I'm about half way through and it seems really good, well worth getting.
Good luck with the poker! |

The poker mindset is a pretty good book imo and helps with tilt management. To be fair the stress ball helps as well, but i stopped using that to ensure that i wasnt getting too stressed in the first place.

| something that might help you, while pushing for high volume play is important, maintain high quality play at the same time. Some people get sloppy as hell when putting in lots of hours |
