Well I was playing micro on Stars last night and this hand really bothered me afterwards, mostly because the results make me wonder if I played it wrong (bad results do that to you ...)
I'd gotten some decent hands previous to this hand (AK, QQ, etc) and I'd been raising 5XBB (not that much when BB=2cents) preflop with these hands. Most of the time it would work and get rid of most the players, leaving maybe 2 or 3 going into the flop, but sometimes it would be too much and everyone would fold. Anyway, this guy raised preflop, and I hadn't seen him (or hardly anyone else at the table for that matter) raise preflop very often previously. I reraised because I wanted to make sure he didn't play with crap. My first question is, should I have reraised more preflop?
Second question: post flop raise: too much or too little? He reraised me. Was I right to get out of this hand? Or should I have reraised again? I don't know what I thought he had, but the fact that he raised preflop and reraised my pot sized bet scared me into thinking he had the best hand. A straight? But who would raise and then call a reraise preflop with 5 6? Unless they were maybe suited?
Anyway. He showed me his his hand, so read the history and let me know what you think. Advice appreciated.

| well, I think you're waay over thinking the micro limit game. I respect that you probably don't have the $$ to risk but you can't expect people to play correct poker when they are sitting there with 2 bucks. Someone said it a while back here (and I'm sure many other places and times) no risk = no poker. The perfect example is right here... this guy raised with 104o! When people are raising with 104o, you need a REALLY bad flop to get rid of AA, like QJ10 suited with you not having the flush draw. Other than that I'd just go with them. |

Horrible play.
Sorry, but it's the truth.
What would I have done? Make a raise with a little more teeth than the one you made. Then I would reraise the fool all in on the flop. He is obviously pushing JJ/QQ/KK/AK. What do you think he could possibly have that beats you? He's going to have to show me 77. That's all there is to it.
Edit: LOL. Just realized this was micro and saw what he showed down. Guess it wasn't KK! |

worst laydown i ever saw.
you should have raised way more pre flop... preferably all-in.
definitely re-raise all-in on the flop. there is NOTHING there to scare you.
don't tell me you are intimidated by a raise that is worth less than a gumball.

Ditto. Take a little time and put your opponent on a hand. 77 is the ONLY hand that beats you that would have played this way, and I'll pay that off any day. |

Reraise more preflop.
I make it 25c atleast. Pot flop, call anything.
He raised preflop and is aggro on a 347 flop. You're safe.

Here are the details of a crazy but winning hand I played last night. We were the last three players of a 10 player SNG. Did I take too big a chance with these Aces?
I am Sheik Geo
**Hand #42065075 begins**
Ontilit800 receives the dealer button
Sheik Geo posts small blind 50
cami posts big blind 100
You are dealt[As,Ah]
Ontilit800 calls 100
Sheik Geo raises 350
cami calls 300
Ontilit800 calls 300
Flop is dealt [Qs,4s,9s]
Sheik Geo bets 500
cami calls 500
Ontilit800 goes all in 0
Ontilit800 raises 1354
Sheik Geo calls 854
cami goes all in 0
cami raises 2705
Sheik Geo goes all in 0
Sheik Geo calls 887
Turn is dealt [2s]
River is dealt [6h]
cami shows two pairs Nines and Fours
cami's pocket cards were [9c,4c]
Ontilit800 shows two pairs Queens and Nines
Ontilit800's pocket cards were [9d,Qd]
Sheik Geo shows a flush Ace high
Sheik Geo's pocket cards were [As,Ah]
Sheik Geo wins 1774 from side pot
Sheik Geo wins 5262 from main pot
**Hand #42065075 ends**
Obviously, I was worried about the Aces being cracked by the flush. On the other hand, I figured I had a ~36% of hitting the nut flush myself. Did I play this right, or was I just a lucky fool? |

Thanks for the responses. I was pretty damn sure it was a stupid move after I made it, which is why it bugged me so much after I did it. It's nice to know what I SHOULD have done though. Oh well ... next time ... right?

| Both you and your opponent made glaring errors... minraising. You're not playing limit, don't treat it as such. A minraise is a very callable raise in any case. If a thinking opponent was playing you, he just put you on overcards. You need to make him think otherwise. |

courtiebee, just what did you think he had? Did you put him on a hand before you folded? That flop showed nothing threatening at all. Flopping a straight doesn't happen very often, and 56 is not something he would've raised with pre-flop.
Don't be so timid with your bets. Scared money is dead money. |

Right... but T4os isn't something that is raised preflop
No way I'm laying down AA in microlimits. |

You didn't take a big chance at all. Actually, you played it right.
a) You have top pair. So at the flop you are probably about an 80% fav. b)You also have a 4-flush draw on the board, and a nut flush at that, which gives you 39% odds to hit the flush, let alone the fact that you are already in good shape with the top pair.
Personally, I would've went all-in at the flop. |

Obviously I am not offended and couldn't care less about this pointless comment since this HH is from two years ago, but I really discourage you from making posts like this in other threads. Most players will feel offended that a new poster is simply telling them "you play bad" without backing their comments up. Even if the play in the HH is bad (like in this one ), short comments like, "that was terrible" really need to be backed up by "here is why it was terrible", or else the comment is not welcomed at all.
Just something to think about as you (and anyone else in this forum) decide to post more, especially in with newbie forum which requires just a little bit more patience and a little bit more explanation about certain things. |

A micro-limit game is going to be hard to raise anyone out of the pot. Putti was toying with you because he put you on AK or at least 2 high cards. You will see that kind of play often in the lower limits. In particular when you cannot raise enough to push people out of pots.
However, there is no way I am not call and/or re-raising with AA after the flop. If he has a set then God bless him but with that board I gotta see the river and turn'em up. |

Even more likely if me, spenda, spoon, bigred, etc is the newest post. |
