Flop bet is ok. I don't like the push over of the c/r though, any reason you thought he was making a move?

Looks good to me. A shorty push and Cold call smells worse than TT usually to me...

the push-over is a little extreme with 16+BB (M=8.7)... A check or a "normal" raise to 2000 might've done nearly the same (though it would be more difficult if he 3-bets you there, so a check is probably better). You would've probably both gotten in on the flop anyways...

wow. Just, wow. Hard to believe that Flintock got out after investing that much. PF looks good, flop is scary to say the least. What is your thought process here when pushing over the 2 all-ins here? As played you had to think you were the only flush draw going? No other flush draw would push that hard? (unless that is what flintock doubtfully folded, more likely a 1-pair hand though)

Man, I guess I didn't realize just how much it costs to play a lot of tournaments until I started doing it. If we don't see you post in the winner's circle for a couple of weeks then you probably just lost 10K. Crazy.

Wow, that's even more than I thought! Shocked

I guess it makes sense though since I only play about every other day and your average buyin is probably three or four times mine. My stats for the month are 229 played, buyins 12.9K, prizes 9.3K but I won a bunch in August so I'm not too worried.

I'm still such an amateur...

Since Aug 23 I've played 51 tourneys and am up 6.8k.

The volume necessary to play fulltime is still mindboggling to me.

Likelihood of other flushdraw(s) is very low here given preflop action.

It's possible to play lower volume with a higher edge..

I agree 100% - I guess all I was trying to do was put it into some perspective for the many players out there who are playing maybe 30 MTTs a month and feel like they are playing a ton, when even a "low volume" fulltime player (40 hrs/week) would be hitting that in less than a week, and I would imagine someone like you, can do that in 1-2 days.

This is why it shouldn't be as disheartening for a good non-fulltime player to see that you are hitting a final table 15x more often than they are... it's in large part because you are playing 15x as many tourneys.

Ok, so you knew that he wasn't going to fold (unless a complete idiot) and his C/R was really a C/P with just some miscellany left over... Let me do the math, for whatever reason, I'm not seeing the hand like I do when I'm playing, maybe it helps to have the pot in "front" of me. You "called" 5375 to win 19075 for pot odds of 3.5:1, so you need 29%. He probably had the best hand you could hope that he had in that situation, but I can't narrow his range down to exactly that? With villian having exactly AJ, you figure to have 10 outs (plus whatever for the runner flush) which gives you close to maybe 35-40%?? That's good... Widening his range to 99+ AJs+ AQo can't be friendly though(any reason villian is wider than that here?)...Still probably very close to 29% (don't have pokerstove handy), so ok. Hmph, for whatever reason, just doesn't feel right. Admittedly I haven't been playing enough lately, so maybe my "feel" for the odds is slipping a little... Thanks for the hand.

The volume necessary to play fulltime is still mindboggling to me.

I agree with this completely as I consider myself a "low-volume" fulltime player. I start my day at 6 pm est every day with the $5r and finish it with the $10r at 10pm est (total play on average 7-8 hours). I risk about ~400/day and play about 10-11 tournaments a day between Stars, Tilt and UB (I'm also proud of opr stats too but I can't brag amongst the company in this thread).

There are times when I'll go 3 weeks between final tables (between July to August and it was frustrating) but still above break even and others where I'll be there frequently. Over my last 7 playing days I've hit 2 final tables (2nd in 69+6 and 4th in 24k guar. on FTP) and 2 final table bubbles (11th in 10-10-10 and 10th in $10r on Stars). That isn't to say I haven't had variance either, as I just got off my worst ever streak of no cashes yesterday at 34 straight (total cost of $1k+) only to get that 4th in my first cash to end the streak.

Ironically, I love playing tournaments much more than I ever did playing NL 6max (I get called douchebag a lot more).

Jeff, I think you should risk more than $400 per day. Is it that you don't think you have an edge in the $109 freezeouts and the daily $162's because I'll bet you do and I know you have the bankroll. If you risked $1000 per day then your ROI would go down but your $$$/hour would probably come close to doubling.

I'm the same as you, I'm having a lot more fun playing poker now that I've switched to donkaments.

I'm slowly taking out some of the more painstakingly value tournaments (like the $3r) while fixing my hours. I know I have a nice edge in the late night $109 on Stars but right now it doesn't work out well with the rest of my schedule (I prefer to not put in 13 hour days).

I'm also slowly increasing my risk as I feel more comfortable that I can play consistently on the upper level. It was only at like 300 or so like 2 months ago and now its like 450. I played in the daily 100k for about a week but didn't care for the structure at the time, but it will probably be the next big stars tournament I'll add. That, and I should start playing the Million every Sunday but I just don't get up in time.

I'm also moving action away from Stars and to other sites like Tilt and UB because the players there are much worse.

Basically all 109freezes are soft, there's a also a lot of value in the Stars 100k although the variance is pretty sick..

Weekend update: 6 final tables, no top 3, biggest cash 11k (5th in UB 200k).

Top 3 in a high buyin tournament is just not possible due to my rigged accounts. Oh well. If anyone has lucky dollars, send them to me, ty.

Is BreakRibs good because if he's not I don't doubt the river is a fold.

Maybe I'm wrong (hopefully the results aren't skewing my thoughts), but on that board, I don't see many worse hands calling your river value bet there? Sure he folds (or bluff-check/raises) a lot when he has shit, but, you WANT to show down this hand, and I don't see the +EV in betting there against the #2 stack.

You were going for a blind steal, Cold-called. Hit TPWK. Flop C-bet is cold-called from the only person at the table that can make a huge dent in you. Any reason not to totally shut down right there? Call decent bets from villian?

Insanely risky passive move by villian though. Reads on him?

We had some history, he limpcalled some of my raises and defended his bb with Q4s once. Read: passive, mediocre but tries to play well.

I was pretty sure he didn't have TT+ (even morons know they have to reraise there) and I was willing to pay off runner runner quads.. Also the timing didn't make sense; he checked pretty quickly both turn and river and I'd assume he would at least think about bet or c/r with a monster..

Why would he do anything other than push with AK there??

congrats on 5th tonight in that nightly 100 grand... dunno how you did it with like 70k chips and 13 people left to big in chips than loosing with AA to J6... and then gaining a chip stack again.... How do you recomend someone play at that stage of an MTT? like with 2-4 tables left, just play super tight or what? I think when i get their I will start playing a little more loose and scared.

even if it did, that wouldn't have usually qualified... Lowest qualifying losing hand I've seen is AAAKK. Plus the fact that this was in a tourney... Go talk to miffed, he knows all about the BBJ Dancing

Nice royal fish!

Your point being? I don't care who he is or what buyin he is playing, he is still pushing AK there nearly always and usually making a smaller raise with AA/KK.
