And it's nice to be here. Also nice to see you're still posting Tai, still at $27?

For those that remember me, you'll remember I was getting married and cashing out to pay for the wedding ring. Well I did, and we did and it's been great.

I bet on horses and football for a while, and recently I've been playing a little bit of poker again! So it's back to the boards.

So it wouldn't be a "Hi I'm back" post without a HH, and here's mine.

I'm playing a live 12 man £10 tournament with £5 rebuys, and I've gone deep. 4 left on the bubble and I'm joint big stack with 30,000 chips.

The short stack has 6000 left and doesn't understand push/fold poker. She let her stack go to 1.5 BBs and picked up tens, and we all called to try and elimainate. Now she has 6000, blinds are 500/1000. She is ultra tight, and doesn't limp.

She is UTG, I'm BB

Dealt to me: Ace of Hearts Ten of Spades

UTG raise to 2000, 2 folds, me?

I think I only have 3 options. Push/Fold/Call and push flop.

Which is best? Why? Is there another option that is right?

Strange tourney format.

Anyway, call and re-evaluate on the flop?

I don't think you can fold here with position and 3.5-1 pot odds but raising is tricky too as you've mentioned that she's uber-tight. A raise/shove is fine if you can put her on a wide enough range for the circumstances but the ICM might say otherwise. Doubling her up is horrible obv.

Hey man, welcome back! It's great to hear from you again, I thoguht you'd wandered off into the wild blue (or grey since you live in the UK Wink) yonder. I was playing the $38/$60 games but a) I didn't think there was an edge at the $60 games due to rake and better players and b) given the precipitous fall of the Aussie dollar against the USD I cashed out a bunch of money so I'm back at the $27s. Great to have you back anyway.

As for your hand, if the short stack is as bad as you say, she might even just fold if you shove over, so I would just put her AI. As you say, you are never folding preflop and if you're calling you're open shoving any flop, so perhaps give her a chance to fold preflop - it might just happen. That said, I don't think shoving preflop is vastly superior to stop 'n' go in this spot.

Hey,

I was in Sydney in July. Lovely and warm relative to our winter, but was gutted that we only got 2AUD to the £ instead of 3. made it damn expensive

You should have looked me up, I would have gladly taken you and your wife out for a drink or three!

Come back now, you'll get 2.35 AUD for the GBP...

I wasn't there with my wife. I had a world statistics conference on Hamilton Island and stayed in Sydney the week before with colleagues as a holiday.

I was there when world youth day was on. What a nightmare!

Yes, WYD was a fucking nightmare, not least because I live about 2 blocks from St Mary's Cathedral which was Pope central so all the streets around my place were closed off.

Hope that you had a good time, next time you're down here be sure to drop me a line.
