That last hand's a joke. He wasn't on a draw for anything other than a pair...

I won a play money tourney the first time I played stud because I played really tight and everybody kept calling me on weak draws to hands that wouldn't even beat mine.

Stud is such an odd game because so many people playing it just pay to see the next card, no matter what they have. I had two hands like this today:

1. In a stud hi game, I had (J4)KKAA. My opponent had no pair showing, two of his cards were a jack and four, he had no obvious straight draw, and just a possible flush draw with two clubs out. He called every bet from me until the last street, at which point he folded to my last $1 bet - good thing, because I'd made a full house, although I imagine he couldn't even beat my board. He said he was drawing to a flush. I'm thinking: some guy has aces and kings showing, has been betting from the word go, and you're hanging around hoping for a flush? Yuck.

2. In a stud hi/lo game, I had a guy call me down to the last street when I had two pair showing. It turned out after he called on the end that he couldn't even beat my board (which was all I had), and didn't have a qualifying low, either. That's tremendous play.

Hi/Lo is a good game to play. I have been playing the 2/4 whenever its running at stars and have done quite well.
