No reads on the guy (2nd time he had pushed, 1st was with JJ preflop)
no real reads, and yes i know i played way too passive. Bet the flop raise the turn, I know.
Simple question is, do you call?

I do. He is in the BB, and checks. He is probably raising AK. On top of this, he just moves all in, he obviously doesn't want a caller here.
This may take your out of the tourny sometimes but I think I make this call. If you win, you are in prime position. |

Yes, I'd have to call that one. You are worried about KQ here but
I think I would risk it. My guess is he has a smaller set, a weak K
or he is cold bluffing. |

| He could hold a full house or AK, KQ, but I would also call this one in a tournament. Smells like a bluff. |

| It's possible he has something like pocket 4s. But I'd probably call. |

You are slowplaying a set. You want someone to put money in for you to grab. They have done so.
The whole point of the slowplay is to wait for somone to improve. If you aren't going to act when they do, why slowplay?
You should have raised on the turn and found out where you were. That's my opinion having been burnt on slowing sets before though. |

| Id fold it, unless I have a good read that tells me not to. The blinds are low and you still have a healthy stack if you fold. A paired board (where the card paired is an A,K,Q,J or T) is one of the scariest boards for lower stakes players and they rarely bluff on those boards because they think flopped trips is a monster and therefore expect any opponent who flopped trips to call any bet. |

| ^^^ I agree, you don't slow play if you're not going to call here. If he calls bets/raises on the flop and turn maybe you're scared, here you have no info. Tough on the river, I think you have to call. While this could be the opposite of the post oak bluff, it looks way more like he thinks no one has the K and can't call, so he may as well pick up the pot. |

I definitely call. If he has the best hand, why is he pushing all-in?? It is only going to scare off your opponent. Strange bet if he has the nuts. Unless he has a full house and knows that you will call with trips??
Either way, you have a set with a pretty good kicker......call |

| First of all, its not a set its trips. There is a difference, with trips you are only adding one card to the board to make the three of a kind and with a set you are using both hole cards to make the three of a kind. I agree with you guys that his opponent played it badly by just pushing all in on the river, but thats what guys at these levels do. Obviously your opponent must have been scared of you having trips when you called on the turn and he knows he will call the all in if he had trips, so thats why he is going all in with his full house because he expects you to call. At best he will have trips too and you might have the better kicker. He could be bluffing but I think thats not very probably for reasons I have stated before. If the blinds were higher and you didnt have as much time left or you had some kind of a read that tells you otherwise I might call. In this case I fold. |

^^^ Is this established somewhere? Doyle uses set to descibe either - differentiating hidden set vs one with 2 on the board. Also uses phrases like:
a set of trips
or even a set of fours.
How about a game like 7CS - is it always a set there? |

Nice! You're lucky the board didn't flush draw clubs. He thought you were on the backdoor flush draw. He would have folded like a cheap suit. |

SET n. In Hold'em, three of a kind where two of the cards are hole cards.
TRIPS n. Three of a kind. In Hold'em the term SET is used when two of the three cards are hole cards.
There are a lot of people who us these terms incorrectly but lets try not to. |
