Pre-flop with small pockets (2-7) I will call obviously set hunting. My flexible rules include: If there are 2 callers before me, If there are no raises before me, If there is a raise at least 2 limpers before the raise or 2 callers after the raise. Basically im looking to have at least 3-4 people in the pot with me. Frequently I find myself folding pocket pairs in MP or EP to a raise before me. Should I be calling? Should i be factoring in a persons stats first, because I usually dont.
Heres an example hand:
Party Poker 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (7 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)
Preflop: Hero is CO with , .
2 folds, MP2 raises, 3 folds, BB calls.
Flop: (4.40 SB) , , (2 players)
BB bets, MP2 folds.
Final Pot: 2.20 BB
thats enough posting for me today, After 5 winning sessions in a row at this limit, my last 2 sessions have been losers and I want to take a more active role in examining my game. Thanks for any input |

To be honest, that hand in particular says the table is 7 handed, in which case pairs under 7s become almost worthless IMO.
I play shorthanded, but the only time I'm calling low pairs is from the BB to a steal (sometimes I 3-bet depending on villain) and completing the sb with a couple of limpers. I guesse full ring I'd want at least 3 limpers and the bb.
The only other time I'm calling low pairs is when theres a total aggro-monkey at the table - you know the type, raises 60% of hands and goes bonkers with air postflop trying to bluff every pot. |
