I have to agree, at the very least somebody should steal it out of this thread and sticky it somewhere. |

Ask Hump to sticky it in the Beginner's Circle. Though, he's a neat freak and he wants to keep things tidy.

| So when is FTR going to publish FTR Poker Essays Vol. 1? I know there has been talk about something like that. Is it really that difficult to publish a compilation of essays like Malmuth's Poker Essays Vols. 1, 2 and 3? |

That situation is an exact analogy to some situations in chess.
Ever have someone say "Mate in 5" and you may think, "no one can see 5 moves ahead, the branching probabilites are damn near infinite"
But when you FORCE a move, it's easy . But you really aren't seeing 5 moves ahead. You are giving him 2-3 VERY necessary choices which lead to the final 2-3 true "mating" moves. |

Unfortunately you can't always get the wrist. Playing at lower stakes is not so much "go down or I'll break your wrist" it's more "go down or I'll seriously crinkle that shirt".
And I do like the idea of this story. Very interesting.
Although of course you CAN make people do stuff sometimes. Like if you pick them up and thrown the across the room you've pretty much taken their choices away.
(Unless you're going to say... "no, they could choose to learn to fly" ). |

Agreed, fantastic story.
It was one of the first things I read on FTR before I joined, and I must say, it's helped my game.
I have that line in big text on my wallpaper on the pc i play on. |

| I bt if you gave them a chioce of live if they do such and such or die if they didn't then 99.5 of the people would do such and such even if it was the wrong thing to do. Chioces are the way to alot of things freedom hell heaven and financial freedom all's you can do is choose the right chioce and see were it leads you but if you choose the wrong chioce you know were it will lead you 80-90% of the time it will lead you back steps in your progress instead of taking you forward to new highs. |

Before we had Digests, we used to sticky all the best posts and lock them, with a separate comments thread to keep the original post clean. Now that we collect everything neatly into Digests, we don't do that anymore. |

Ideally, we should unlock ALL threads that have been added to Digests and let people comment in them so they can be properly rated.
But there are so many... |
