So I've read SuperSystem, Cloutier's tournament book on no limit and pot limit, Hellmuth's book (not very good unless it's the first one you ever pick up), Caro's book of tells, and one or two others. What's next?

I've not yet read Sklansky. But it seems like from the general word on the street (or wherever) that a lot of his books deal mainly with limit hold 'em, which I rarely play. Is this accurate? If you were going to recommend one or two Sklansky books to a guy who always plays pot limit or no limit, and a lot of no limit tournaments, which one(s) would you recommend?

Dan Harrington has a new book on tournament play which looked intriguing. Has anyone here read it?

What else ya got for me? I feel like discussing things here is my main resource, but I always like to keep reading and trying to wrap my head around new concepts.

Is anyone out there in publisher land trying to get Negreanu to write a book? I know he's not quite the name that some others are, but I very much admire his play & his columns I've read online.

Harrington's book is MUCH better than Cloutier's book. Those are the only two books I've read on NLHE. It's written exclusively for tournaments, but alot of the concepts apply to ring games as well. Theory of Poker is great for general poker concepts if you can manage to get through it without gouging your eyes out.

Yeah, pretty much what he said. I'm about two-thirds of the way through it, and I think its a really great book. I wish it didn't focus so much on the tournament aspect of NL because I play in ring games only...but its still a damn good book, I'd say a must have.

I'm now about 2/3 through Dan's book and it's great. Simple, clear writing; sections that deal with concepts that a lot of players (even good ones) don't understand, like the gap concept and the squeeze play; lots of practical examples of everything he talks about; lots of specifics on positional play and different starting requirements for different seats; details about changing up your raises and bets with the same hands... I could go on, but let's just finish this up by saying I think this book is great and I can't wait for vol. 2.
