You forgot to cite Fnord for the "counting your chips" line.

Maniacal as always. Good on ya, man.

rippy how often do you get busted out making these retarded plays, sure it may work the odd time, and those are all well and great, but you just seem maniacal, and it will catch up with you sooner or later, if it hasnt already.

That line is far older than the first time I typed it on the boards and from a different origin.

Some food for thought...

o We're only gettting a small window into Rippy's play. Without the entire picture it's hard to gauge how big of a mistake he's making and how often.
o Without a full history, it'd difficult to judge how successful he is. I'm pretty sold he's a winning player, but what's his win-rate compared to more ABC players in the long term? Once would expect these kind of plays to send variance through the roof, hence streaky results. But what's this doing to his win-rate, which is where it really matters?
o The payout structure in many of these tournies is such that consistant performance in the middle of the pack is not rewarded.
o There are a fair amount of situations where any 2 will do or can't be a big mistake. Many players just can't seem to pull the trigger in those situations.
o Rippy is boarder-line manical, but he's not predictably manical and can fold to an obvious trap. This makes him difficult to trap and light-years above some of the chimp manaics that play these.
o If he's setting up a situation where the other players don't feel they can profitably steal from him, he could be trading -EV in a hand or two for a little +EV over lots of subsequent hands.

Seems to me those 3 about sums it up. Sometimes you have to bully in order to prevent being bullied.

It is odd that you can win the SD on so many all-ins with the rags. Normally to win with rags consistently, you need to see the flop and push people off their draws or call with your good odds (ala Gus Hansen).

I would like to know some more about your win-rate, average finish %, ITM%, ect. Just for comparison with us straight-forward players.

BTW nice run

Gee... being called by AJo really hurt his EV...

200 antes
200 BB
635 * 2
1670 total in the pot

9s 5h 35% = 585
As Jd 65% = 1085

net - 50 chips (2x the ante)

Well worth the table image from busting some poor sucker with Dolly Parton offsuit.

Not really, if you know the math.

Unless you're wired up bigger than one or both of my 2 cards or we share a card (domination/destruction), he should win these all-ins more than 1 out of every 3 times. Being connected and/or suited further increases the expected win rate. In a way, you're better off pusing with 65s than K6s, because another hand with a 6 or 5 is unlikely to call sparing you from domination.

Again, Rippy, as with just about all of your hand histories, the tactics demonstrated are unique to TOURNAMENT play. Please post them in the appropriate forum.

This is the nicest thing that Fnord has said about Rippy! At least, as far as I can recall.

fnord i agree with alot of your points on his play, i just think he makes stupid decisions at stupid times, I have watched rippy in alot of tourneys and watch him bust out, and i just think to myslef what the fuc was he thinking. So i am glad it works for him sometimes, But I think he is sending the wrong message to alot of the new players just starting out here trying to learn, for each of the suckouts you get with 7 4 post 3 that you lose on and bust out with, then maybe the picture will be clearer for all

rippy you've taught me a lot...especially HU matches..raising with rags does work...putting people ai with any 2 card works too but sometimes you do seem to go over the line.

but I think there is still room for improvement. only one thing I can point out from that headsup history, where you called ai with 65s

I hope this was just for "show" because I don't see the folding equity from calling an allin, nor do I see statiscal advantage vs random hand.

I believe after ALL THAT raggin' you did while getting to headsup, you could easily exploit your Maniac table image into trapping him for the sweet 1st place...

I still love you though... Smile

check it out....Gus Hansen talks about equity and his game..

it's pretty ironic that THE GUS thinks about "EV+" but it seems as

he found his formula for EV+ with LAG playing style. I hope you can too.
