I play a lot of free online Texas no-limit hold ‘em poker, and do fairly well. Played a few friends NL Texas hold ‘em and won. Last night went in my first tournament in real life and finished 20 out of 30. I didn’t catch but also felt like a fish. Everyone there had played in several tournaments. I am aware of pot odds and I play fairly tight.
What would be the best book to buy regarding no-limit hold ‘em tournaments? I am going to buy two.
Tournament Poker for Advanced Players
by David Sklansky (Author)
Championship Hold'em Tournament Hands : Championship Strategies at Limit and No-Limit Hold'em!
by Tom McEvoy (Author), T.J. Cloutier
Harrington on Hold'em Expert Strategy for No limit Tournaments: Endplay, 2
by Dan Harrington (Author)
Thank you,
Dave |

If you are going to buy two
get
HOH 1
and
HOH 2
dont bother with any other books.
Yes I kno HOH 2 isnt even out yet, but if its half as good as HOH 1 is, then, itll be well worth it. |

| Personally I don't think there's a great tournament book on the market. HOH is ok. |

Thanks vqchuang, I appreciate it. I have never read any books on hold 'em to date. I was also thinking of Harrington's books. Seems like a good choice.

rilla - realpokertraining, is it as good as proclaimed? I read a lot of good things about it in another topic here on FTR. Is the price still $50 ?
I'm fairly new to online poker, and play only SnG and tourneys. I'm going to read HOH1 soon, havent read it yet. |

Harrington should hire me as his book pimp. I hope the book is everything you expected and more. It really helped me out. |

Bringing up an old thread. Yet, Theory of Poker is suppose to be a great book, the best on the market. Its next on my list after HOH2
In a raymer interview here is what he had to say

PokerLizard: You’ve obviously taught yourself well. Which Poker Books would you put at the top of your list?
Raymer: Theory of Poker by David Sklansky is easily number one, and number two isn’t even close. | |

I just recently read HOH myself and really enjoyed it. I think by far the best NL tourney book I read. Theory of Poker was really good to, I'd say you have to get all three and be the judge of it yourself |
