I placed 3rd in the FTR freeroll tonight! Making the final table and getting a nice cash was good to help reenergize me for grinding through the micros.

Well after playing pretty much all day long and loosing about 1/5 of my BR I decided to play a MTT. So I bought in to a $3+$0.30 along with 401 others. I decided I wanted to be ultra tight during the first round so I read
Quote:
soupie's Win MTT Poker
while keeping an eye on my table as not to miss any of the top 3 which I managed to catch a couple and doubled up 3 or 4 times. Reading this was perfect and I played like a rock.
At the first break I was running 15/10/44. I opened up all most all of the tables and let HEM work for me while I continued to play like a rock.
Made it ITM and figured hell this game plan is working well so I continued playing really tight. Next thing I knew I was sitting at the final table.
Now my original goal was to at least make 6th which would give me enough added to my BR that I could cash out of FT, $100 minimum, and transfere to PS to start my grind properly.
Well long story short I think I can truly say the only stupid hand I played was when I push over the top of a 3bet with my opened ended str8 draw. Well guess what that's the one that busted me out of the tourney!
Dealer: HarleyGuy13 finishes in 5th place and wins: $81.20 Razz
Goal accomplished +1! Made my day

Small Town Live MTT tournament
$10 Buy-in +$5 Rebuy(1)/Addon

25 Players, I placed 2nd for $55.

I had a great time. It was fun playing as soon as the drunks donked their stacks off after the rebuy ended.
Met a lot of good people and impressed many by being friendly and knowledgeable about poker. Most of the people my age there were drunk and rude, so they were very pleasantly surprised.

Hero (UTG) ($2.09)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A, 10
Hero calls $0.02, 6 folds, BB raises to $0.06, Hero calls $0.04

Flop: ($0.13) 9, 9, 5 (2 players)

Had my biggest winning session since quitting SNGs to focus on FRNL. I played really nicely and hit some great cards. Was a pretty short session, I was two tabling, played just 178 hands but finished up almost 3 BIs.

Very pleased!

I don't know if this really belongs here, but I just had to share as rarely have I had a hand come together like this lol. It's not just flopping the Absolute nuts. It's your opponents falling over themselves to get their money in Smile

Watching the instant HH I saw one of them was holding AdKd so thank thank God the Jd didn't appear - PStars doesn't have a BB Jackpot and my laptop would have been out the nearest window lol.

Preflop: Hero is SB with ,
UTG raises to $0.06, 1 fold, MP1 raises to $0.18, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.17, 1 fold, UTG calls $0.12

Flop: ($0.58) , , (3 players)

Turn: ($8.04) (3 players, 3 all-in)

Woo. On a side note, I'm pretty much halfway to 5nl now. Double woo.

Man I was on a bad run of not getting to the final table and thats what I base my play on I don't base it on cashing only I had a 1-10 FT ratio before I started playing alot of ring games and then my play slipped and it went down to a 1-14 ratio but finally this week I hit two final tables in a row I came in 7th in one becuase I had to post fold it do to having a Christmas Party to go to I left in second place with 22 people left so I'm surprized I final tabled that one and the next tourney I played the next day I came in 4th place after getting a horrible beat lol had AA vs 57os and guy spiked 5 on flop and 7 on river of course and finished me 4th. but so far I am having decent success at MTT's I play adjust to table if the table is loose I play tight if table is tight I play suited connectors and un suited connectors added with AQ+ os and Ax s in position otherwise ATs+ and all pairs depending on situation. If the table is loose I play AK+ AQs+ and TT + and then adjust as table does.

Ever since a friend of mine took €15k in the Belgian open, tournaments have peaked my interest. But I have no experience with them apart from railing him, so I was entering some on Prima with VIP points. After 2 PL HE tourney busts, today I played a $5.50 NLHE and came in 34/600 for $14, and a $3.30 6-max NLHE and 28/800 for $10 (end sucked, busted on a 70/30).

Peanut money, but a pretty cool experience and I think I'm gonna play more of them.

I think I'm getting the hang of this. First ~40k hands were at 5NL 6 max. The rest are 10NL 6 max.
Completed my first operation. I have to come up with a new operation now.
Completed using PT for trial. Moving to HEM next.

I meant to add this too:
Thanks to all the folks here at FTR for making me think while playing and not just playing.

I won a tournament! My 3rd biggest cash ever. €1 entry, and €64 payout for first.
I have also learnt how to make profit at 2nl ring games now. Boy its hard work, but I can average almost +$1/hr I think. Just need to remember to play when I am awake, not asleep.

Won my first live MTT. I took a really bad hit to my chip stack at the start but didn't panic, just waited until I had some good cards and managed to double up.

After that I played some of the best tournament poker I've ever played, really focused and a lot more aggressive than usual. Made it to the final table as one of the short stacks. Everyone was so tight as they payed 7 of 72 and there were 9 left I made a real effort to blind steal as much as possible. Made the money, doubled up and managed to win the thing. Not much money won for first by most people's standard's, but it meant a lot to me.

Have managed to finally play decent online poker. Not an easy thing when you're an old casino vet like me, and only played live until recently. Figuring out these forums too. Let's call that an accomplishment as well, for now. Still don't know how people play 20 tables.

Bankroll hits $600! I'm going to start 2-tabling 25NL on PStars until I get comfortable, or have to move down >.>

Ever since I started lurking at FTR my game has taken a complete 180... I was down to like 15% of my original BR and now I'm right around where I started, actually making money and then dipping below the break even line due to varience. This place is awesome; now I'm just trying to get 10 posts so I can submit links so I can post HHs.
