Re-addendum: Playing 50NL now :)

Addendum to the operation

The main object of the next few months is to get my bankroll up, shake off the rust (and hopefully become a better player), optimize my HUD and DB (holdem manager is terrific), and get ready for 2009. 2009 goal: 50nl, possibly 100nl FR, multitabling like a mofo.

My history:

AKA Jishuu, I have mastered shaving privates. Earlier this year I chopped the stars 50/50 HU for 11k and then a 109 FO shortly after for 10k. I cashed out alot of this. I did this for school reasons, and I was being a nit.

After this I ran cold, dropped a couple grand, and since then im probably red another grand after some small reloads and more poor tournaments. I was fortunate to run good in succession, however, I feel the lure of touraments has faded for me.

So what am I left with? I still enjoy poker, I had some good success in the past, and I feel I am a decent player. I figured, why not find out - for real? Prove something to yourself, and make alot of money.

The operation..

Currently I have about $400 on stars, multitabling 25NL FR.

Before I go any further: This is NOT my entire roll. If i need more money, i will load more.

Short term goals:

October: Gain goldstar status (31K ish hands, hopefully get closer to 40,000) while maintaining a positive winrate and upping my tables from the current 6 to 10-12ish. Play 0 tournaments. Play only 25nl FR. I'm expecting $200-$500 in earn. Spend 0 fpps.

November: Continue with 25nl, put in a retarded amount of volume at 25nl. Basically, i just want to get platinumstar. I also want to move up to 50nl. I will re-examine my goals at the end of October.

December: Break for the first couple weeks for finals, then get a sick amount of volume in during my break. Once again, this is tenative.

Long term:

2009: Supernova. Be very overrolled for 50nl before moving to 100nl.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any hands I post, or things I find interesting, will be cross-posted here. I am hoping for some solid support and warm wishes, and I will do my best to keep this updated very frequently with detailed comments and progress reports.

So, last update for the night, I will be posting some critical hands tomorrow.

I felt the session was good, did a solid 3.5 hours. There were a couple spots I know I tilted a bit, but nothing like last session!

I battled back from about $20 down around 9pm to +$70 at quarter after 11.

5k at 25nl, avg 5.5 bb/100. Im mainly concerned at this point just getting the time in and readjusting to 10 tables.

Cheers guys, hands to come tmorororworwo

Alright time for a little update:

Just wrapped up a session. Within my first couple hundred hands I ran KK into AA and lost another big pot. Ground back to up about a buy in then just got hit in the face with the deck near the end of the session.

A couple big pots:
No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

SB ($21.10)
BB ($25)
UTG ($4.30)
UTG+1 ($4.30)
MP1 ($28.45)
MP2 ($24.75)
MP3 ($24.60)
CO ($25)
Hero (Button) ($23.75)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A, 10
2 folds, MP1 calls $0.25, MP2 raises $1.50, 2 folds, Hero calls $1.50, 2 folds, MP1 calls $1.25

Flop: ($4.85) 5, 4, J (3 players)
MP1 checks, MP2 bets $4, Hero calls $4, MP1 calls $4

Turn: ($16.85) A (3 players)
MP1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets $18.25 (All-In), MP1 calls $18.25, 1 fold

River: ($53.35) 3 (2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: $53.35

No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (8 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Button ($5.75)
Hero (SB) ($24.65)
BB ($39.55)
UTG ($18.55)
UTG+1 ($27.60)
MP1 ($23.55)
MP2 ($25)
CO ($10)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, K
UTG raises $0.75, 3 folds, CO calls $0.75, 1 fold, Hero raises $3.40, 1 fold, UTG calls $2.75, CO calls $2.75

Flop: ($10.75) 10, 5, 5 (3 players)
Hero bets $8, UTG calls $8, 1 fold

Turn: ($26.75) Q (2 players)
Hero bets $9, UTG calls $7.05 (All-In)

River: ($40.85) Q (2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: $40.85

Hand 1: MP2 had been very aggressive. To be honest on the turn I didn't know there was another player in the pot, when I shoved I thought I was HU with him. The other player, MP1, was pretty bad too though, and called with A2 on the turn.

Hand 2: opp was 46/12/3 and was playing really bad. I felt I had the best hand on the flop. I had been seeing this guy play really awkwardly so I felt I had no reason that my AK should be bad here. When the queen came off I figured at this point im too far invested and i didn't want to check down and let like a small pp win the pot. After my flop bet I feel the turn bet has to be made. He had QJ. See what i mean?

Anyways, these hands are kind of bad beats and my plays on both are kind of questionable as to why I got involved for my stack in the first place. thoughts?

Other big pots were mostly like sets and nothing much to report. There was one hand that I forget now but i might find it later if it comes to mind.

vs 18/6/2. Looking back on this hand I don't like it as much as I did when i made the fold. What mins me here? I don't want to play this hand oop when no card on the turn really helps me besides an ace.

There are alot of big draws. With the shittyness of this flop texture, I never feel I play them +EV with big OP's.

^^^^

I like how I go from hating the fold at the beginning of the explanation, to really liking it by the end. Meh. Someone give me their input on this one.

I used to make these calls all day due to the massive pot odds, but when looking at this hand, I'm only beating A10 here; AK/Q/9/8 3bet here, and the hands I was trying to value (Ax) won't raise me. Why make your hand into a bruff?

I checked the turn because I wasnt really wanting to build a big pot with a marginal hand. Might have lost some value. I wasn't sure of the opponents range i only had 10 hands on him, he was 40/0/0.8 but thats not saying much..

Hand one, the nit in me likes it, it's easy to make a big mistake by raising/ calling but folding is only ever going to be a small mistake.

hand 2 I would def prefer a bigger cbet and as played because you bet so small on the flop you probs need to bet the turn, river looks good.

Thanks badgers;

I'll start with hand two. I didn't even notice i under half potted the flop. I think I had so many tables open i just had a mental lapse. I normally bet closer to 3/4. Given that I bet so small im with you on the turn bet. He could have called me really wide. Then on the river I probably need to c/c given the range of hands he could have called my frop bet with. As played, since i botched the flop and it went c/c on the turn, there are just too many hands that beat me, and the ones i have beat aren't going to raise the river often. Esp 25nl.

Hand one - I feel on these boards, againts those opponent types..... its just super hard to play them well. Not many cards help, im oop. i just wanted to avoid that spot.

Evaluation of my October Goals:

October: Gain goldstar status (31K ish hands, hopefully get closer to 40,000)
This should be doable. I will probably end up closer to 31 than 40
maintaining a positive winrate and upping my tables from the current 6 to 10-12ish.
I've already upped my tables. I have adjusted pretty well. I find with so many tables I am avoiding alot of spewy spots and I'm value betting better (in general) and making good laydowns (in general)

Play 0 tournaments.
check. well, the turbo takedown is just such good value... I'll re-eval when it comes closer to Nov.

Play only 25nl FR.
I don't see myself wanting to move up to 50nl this month

I'm expecting $200-$500 in earn.
I don't know is 8bb/100 is my true winrate, but I expect that I should easily fall within the middle/end part of this range

Spend 0 fpps.
I shouldn't. But that turbo takedown...

Killed a midterm yesterday so i rewarded myself with a session.

It was only 2.5 hours. I was up 6 buy ins within 20 minutes, then was up and down.

I ended up the session up $71, almost 3 buy ins.

Heres the thing. I think its a mental thing. I'll hit an all time high in my database ($325), then ill be pissed when i see im at $250, even though thats 3 buy ins im up since i started.

I need to work on that.

I 16 tabled. Felt pretty comfortable. Might notch up to 18. When im playing and i notice im at a table full of red and yellow vpip/pfr's i always X autopost blinds, then i get out and find a new table. So many tables going on stars why bother playing those types. I'm not trying to kill the 25nl regs, im trying to earn as much as i can as fast as I can so I can move up :p.

Im going to play more tonight, its 6:30 EST so when i was playing the games weren't even the best they could have been.

Only 570 out from silverstar, I feel a good sesh tonight puts me at or close to it. Its only 4.5k hands, which is roughly 4 hours.

re establishing my goals

I already made this post. I am now exceeding my table rate which makes me happy. I've broken the $200 barrier for earn, which also makes me happy.

Had a really tilty session, my first one. I don't know what set me off. I made a few triple barrels with air that got called down really light, fuck. I don't even want to talk about it. Some really stupid shit. Bad calls.

EV= -$70 (yeaaaaahhh getting it in really bad)
only lost $46, so less than two buy ins.

I wouldn't care if i just ran bad or people were making bad calls and getting lucky.. it was my own doing and fault I had this losing session.

Anyways, on the bright side i got in 1500 more hands, still within my earnings target, and taught myself a good lesson for cheap.

back from the dead.

Basically focused on school and took my winter break poker-free. I feel its time to get back into cash. Actually a few days ago for the first time in months i played a $55 MTT and cashed but i was like.. i hate these.. and decided to go back to cash Razz.

Anyways, jan goal is goldstar and 50nl. wee.

Well, I cashed out everything after that last post for exams and shit. But a couple weeks ago I threw on $100 on stars to play sngs, quickly dropped to $20.

Win $11 hu sng, $30something hu sng, 4th in $36 90 or 180 man i forget, bankroll up to 550. Played $162 nightly cashed --> BR 750; cashed 288th in the mil --> BR up to $1500. Played to $5/$10 and lost about 150.

So now, im back grinding. Moved up to 50NL because I could. Logged 15K hands, finished exams, got goldstar status.
