I have been a long time lurker and i appreciate all of the great information everyone here contributes. I've decided to put in my 2 pennies... I have major bankroll problems. I consider myself a good player, far from an expert, but big time student. my issue is i feel as if i can take the $10sngs consistently but i don't. rarely. i bet in the last 5 months i am + about 3 times in live as i am down online. i used to play Pacific but realized my patience wouldn't hold up there. Basically i'm curious if i have a bankroll of only $60 or so as we speak, should i be playing the .1/.2 nl to build my bankroll before i start workin' the tourney tables again...? my confidence is slowly slipping, though a live game (be it friendly, out of town tourney or casino) once a week brings me out of the funk. suggestions? could it be my focus jus' isn't there online? i've been asking myself what i do different...?...?...? i'm TAG and i play consistent (minus the drunk game every so) and i take my live style online... nothing... ; ugh. any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated... and thanks again to everyone on here who gives honest advice... the help is priceless...  |

Yes. That blind structure would fit your bankroll...assuming that $60 is all you're willing to spend. Personally, I wouldn't be satisfied with such slow growth.
Gamble it up. Put your bankroll on the line on one table and at least try to double it.
I mean, at $.01 $.02 blinds you're really not going to feel like you're making progress, even when you really are, and that's frustrating.
I'd suggest $.25 $.50 blinds on RoyalVegas or something like that. Buy in with the max and hope you don't get sucked out on.
The potential payoff is huge, and if you lose, well, $60 ain't that much...
But I'm a pretty impatient son of a gun, so take this advice with a grain of salt. That's why I put up that "warning" thing. This is my advice, though. |

If 60 bucks isn't that much, then add another 60 to your bankroll.
Don't gamble this 60 and then deposit another and be back at square one.

I had a friend that found that my, I mean his, "cold" run of cards and his bad luck with crummy players was directly related to my, I mean his, un-tight play. PokerTraker helped him tighten up and return to my, I mean his, winning ways.
If you don't want to mess with PT, then PokerStars (and I'm sure other sites) have reasonable shortterm stats available in the chat window.
And cards do go cold -- it is possible you are doing everything right and still seeing a downturn -- either way, manage the losses until your game turns around.

I would even go down to the nickel/dime games, and $5 SNG's, like on Stars. Don't think about winning or losing money, but think about getting your game on track and preserving BankRoll. You don't want to go back further, and a reload would hurt your confidence more than will playing a low level table.

Not speaking from authority here, but my understanding is that there is a higher percentage of fish at Brick-n-Mortar cardrooms than on-line. |

| right on... i appreciate the quick responses. basically at this point i'm trying to cure my poker "jones" i jus' started a new job and my real life bankroll isn't really there to put a decent amount in right now, hence the 60. as soon as i am established i plan on taking advantage of the ease of neteller and bonuses. i'm going to take it easy and play only sngs (5) and hopefully i'll take it where it needs to be. i'm actually skipping a live game tonight to start on this mission of never reloading again!!! talk to y'all very soon,... |

| I don't think you will feel you have progressed much in the .01/.02 tables. With that bankroll, try the .05/.10 tables. |

| Also, I think that SNG play is somewhat different than ring play. your bankroll pays for 10 SNGS, if your win percentage is good at those games, you should be ok. |

I agree, play the .05/.10 tables at Stars...You will have 6 buyins before you go bust. With less than 100 dollars in action you can't really expect to be properly funded for any meaningful limit anyway.
The .01/.02 NL tables can be beaten fairly consistently, but it's really slow and boring. Also, the play is so bad there that your game will not be ready for the next level.
I went straight from playing the .05/.10 , $10 max at Pacific to the .50/1.00, $100 max at Pacific and found no appreciable change in my opponents skill level. |
