I suppose all of them could have been avoided. In total I think I got stacked 4 times last night. Oh well.

So ... I didn't actually think that these were bad beats. The second one was kinda a bad beat since he called the turn bet but I then went on to call his giant river bet which, afterwards, I thought was a bad play on my part. I put him on a King but when he check/called the flop I should have thought bottom/mid pair.
Hopefully I'll be able to get away from some of these in the future.

They are bad luck. You can't lay down AQ at a six-max table unless the guy is playing back at you super hard. You are very rarely going to be outkicked by AK. Full ring is a different story. Same story for the other two. No way you could have gotten away from those hands. Better luck next time.  |

Took a seat in a pot limit game. Dealt KK first hand. There's a pre-flop raise to $1, I re-raise to $3 and get four callers, which is just stupid. The flop is a bunch of scattershot garbage - T93 rainbow. First player bets $7, second player raises to $14. I'm tired of this so I push all-in for $22. Both of these players call.
They held pocket tens and pocket threes.
I've never lost my entire buy-in on the first hand at a table, and I hope I never do again. That was ridiculous in the extreme. |

Oh he definitely had "the best of it" pre-flop. Albeit, by a scant few percentage points. Had his 4's held up unimproved because I just didn't catch anything that would have been a whole hell of alot easier to take I can tell you that much. |

Playing $1/$2 NL at the Borgota today. I look down at:

I'm UTG and limp in. Two other players limp in and a very active player makes it $25 as I expected. I make it $75 and the other two players get out of the way. The active player looks at my stack and says those magic words I was looking for: "I'll put you all-in". I immediately called. He turned over:

Beautiful. The flop comes:
K Q 2 -- all clubs.
Turn comes:
K of spades. Perfect. I'm now a 96% favorite to win the hand.
Then the river:
J of hearts
Just like that my Aces got busted. 
The last three days, I've gotten all my money in the pot being a 92% favorite, a 90% favorite, and now a 96% favorite before being beaten. I just can't take this much more.  |

I'll reverse the trend here and post the bad beat I put on someone earlier.
57 suited (diamonds). One of my favorite advertising hands when I first join a table, because it's not hopeless but it looks awful to your average tight player. If I play it, I usually raise with it or call a raise with it hoping to hit something good. If it doesn't pan out, I fold it, no big deal. If it works, it's great for getting a lot of action later on. Anyway...
57 suited (diamonds). I limp in this time from middle position, big blind raises $3 to make it $4, and I call. No one else stays in.
Flop comes Q74 with one diamond. Not unworkable. He bets less than half the pot, which I flat call quickly. At this point I'm putting him on AK and happy to call down if no overcards come.
Turn is the 8 of diamonds, so now I figure I've got about 17 outs even if I'm beaten (9 diamonds, 3 sixes for the straight, 2 sevens for trips, 3 fives for two pair). And I still don't think I am. He again bets about half the pot, which I flat call.
River is a 7. He bets less than half the pot, I raise all-in, and after a lot of thought he folds. I show my hand (the only point to this one is to show it) and, to his credit, he doesn't immediately jump through the computer and kill me. He folded pocket jacks, it turns out. |

I am so pissed off right now. I just had A-10 of diamonds in an unraised pot and the flop came K, Q, J with two diamonds, giving me the nut straight with a royal flush draw. Naturally, I check and it checks around. The turn is a 3 and this guy makes a small bet, which I raise, everyone folds. The river is another K and he makes a much larger bet and I call, expecting to see a full house. Naturally, he shows pocket 3's for a runner-runner full house.
I could have won this guy's entire stack but instead I end up losing money. Typical. |

| Do you always raise like that with aces? That is one serious overbet. If I were you I'd either scale that back to a standard raise, or just push all-in and go the distance - get it over with. For a certain type of loose player, a huge pre-flop raise like that is just begging them to call with their garbage hand. Then if they hit it just makes you feel like crap. |

No, I never raise like that with aces, only against that guy because of my read. Actually, I was begging him to call my overbet and when he called you should have seen that evil poopyhead of a smile I get sometimes...
It was a very frustrating hand at the end of a long day, as you may be able to tell

Every day has been starting like this now. Every f**king day. I hate feeling like I'm climbing a mountain all day long, like I start in a hole and just spend the rest of the day trying to make up for it.
I understand his initial play - I do it all the time myself. But when I get re-raised, I f**king FOLD, because I am NOT AN IDIOT. Why you would want to pay $5 to play a hand like 65 suited against one opponent showing great strength... it just baffles me.

I call in LP thinking either I hit my set or fold if big cards come.
Flop comes J 7 4
Villan bets 10 and I smooth call thinking he's got AJ or thereabouts
Turn is J
Villan bets 25 and I raise all-in knowing he's got to call me with AJ
He calls, saying "your jack is good"
Well, if my J is good then I've got a monster and turn over my pocket 7's.
He turns over K K
Dealer burns and turns

It's like the beat sucked the wind out of the whole table I finally had to say (after rebuying) that all it was was a bad beat. I had him dead to 4 cards in the deck and he hit one. Big deal. I was giddy, since the player is a tough player and I had him outplayed. I may be good at this NL stuff. |

I'm about to go fucking ballistic. I swear to god, I have never, NEVER had shittier cards than I've had today. A string of second best hands and suckouts that has cost me a goddamn FORTUNE.
Besides the KK hand above:
- 6 max table, haven't played a hand yet... I limp in with ATo with just two others... flop is A8x, no other high cards, but all spades. I bet, guy raises me, I re-raise (thinking he's repping the flush and I'm telling him "I don't buy it"). He calls my re-raise, which surprises me. Turn is a blank, I bet, he calls. River is another ace. I bet, he raises all in, I call... he flips over A8o. Lost my entire buy-in on that one hand.
- full ring, playing KQ suited... I raised 2xBB pre-flop and got two callers... flop comes Q8x rainbow. First guy bets $4, second guy calls, I raise it to $16 trying to take the pot down. First guy folds (weak queen?), second guy calls. Turn is a jack and he goes all in. I think I'm beat (maybe two pair) but I'm on tilt and don't have much money left, so screw it. I call... he turns over T9o. Called a raise with T9o pre-flop, and then called the bet and giant raise on the flop with a fucking gutshot draw and no pair.
- full ring, playing AT suited in late position... flop a flush draw, turn the nut flush... I bet 2/3 of the pot trying to get a little more money for it. He calls, river makes a pair of nines on the board, and he has J9 for the boat. I lose a bunch of money (luckily didn't re-raise him, I just flat-called - by that point I was actually expecting to lose).
- same ring game as the last one, T6o in the big blind. Flop is 889. I check, the other player in the hand bets 2/3 of the pot. I flat call, not for the draw, but thinking I'll rep the 8 as the hand progresses, and make him fold. (I put him on a 9 of course.) Turn is a 7 which changes things. I bet a pretty decent amount, he raises me and I call. River is a happy little 9; I check, he pushes all in, I have to fold (because even in the throes of complete despair I know he's got either an 8 or a 9 and I'm fucking dead in the water).
I've managed to drop $150 in about 2 hours this morning because of all this horseshit. I swear, days like today are enough to make me want to quit playing poker forever. |
