Not impressed with the lack of enthusiasm here people. I thought I was doing this community a great service by posting this. I thought I would go to sleep last night and wake up to see this thread being the new sticky in this forum! I understand the majority userbase here may have missed the Transformer golden years of the 80's but I figured there would still be plenty that would appreciate this.
EMBRACE YOUR HERITAGE PEOPLE!!!!!!!! |

Don't worry, I'm excited about this too. Although I was also excited when the teenage mutant ninja turtles movie came out... |

Just a hunch, but I don't think she looked like that in the '80s. |

heavily moderated use, like once in a blue moon these can be fun.
but i do agree that to some degree "both these things suck", because they are easy to abuse and terrible for your body. |

Meh. I think crack is under-rated because of its bad rep as a "street drug". But as a drug, considered in isolation from societal factors, it's fun, and there's nothing more dirty or stupid about it than cocaine. And compared to cocaine it's a good bang-for-your-buck (but then again, cocaine is over-priced). |

*sigh*
Renton, my opinion is not based on who is commonly stereo-typed to do certain drugs. Where I live there are basically no black people. The only people I ever see doing drugs are white kids. And I have been around people smoking crack and I think it's dirty based on what I've seen. It stinks, it looks dirty, and what it does to people in even it's short term effects I think are disturbing.
This thread is quickly taking a bad turn to drug and racial politics.

| When I saw the teaser for this a few months back, I almost cried. I seriously though they were going to ruin the memories of my childhood...but after watching that new trailer, I think I'm more excited to see this movie than anything in the last 5 years. |

| As soon as I saw the sequence of Optimus Prime transforming the trailer won me over. Looks like for the most part they're going to be pretty faithful to the original cartoon. |

atleast it isnt uwe boll directing, that guy somehow gets every video game movie license and completely butchers it.
and wtf is this about crack being an ok drug in moderation? That shit is retardedly addictive. I think anyone that makes the initial decision to do any heavily addictive drug is pretty stupid. Yes different people will have different reactions, some people wont spiral into heavy addiction right away, but you dont know if thats you or not before you do it. Pretty much youre rolling the dice on becoming a degen dope head. That being said, Im constantly around the shit and pretty much everyone around me either has done it or currently is doing it, I dont let it bother me, I dont put myself above them, its thier life. Good luck to them. |

^^^ Sounds like propoganda to me ^^^
I don't consider my decision to try crack as "pretty stupid". It was the opposite. I did my homework ahead of time, researching a lot before using (the same way I approach any drug...illicit, OTC, or prescription). Then I weighted the pluses and minuses over a variety of categories including fun to be had, price, legality, health considerations, addiction potential, etc..., and came to the conclusion that I'd like to try it (that was two years ago). I still believe it was the right choice.
It wasn't more addictive than cocaine, or nicotine for that matter. The only dangerous potential regarding addiction that I noticed was that when the high started to subside, I really wanted to have more right then-and-there to keep the high up (a stronger version of the effect that cocaine gives). But its really easy to will out of that temptation if you've made the decision to stop ahead of time.
Was I addicted after the high was completely gone? Definitely not. Will I do crack again? Maybe, maybe not, I don't really know yet. But I definitely enjoyed the experience.
P.S. Sorry Galapogos for taking part in the hijacking of your thread. I like transformers too. |
