Yeh yeh, I've been thinking of doing this for a while, and I think the time is appropriate now. I've been on my worst downswing ever recently (like everyone else except Zook, ya?), having dropped about 33% of my roll (40k downswing, but dont worry ive recovered some:P) at a certain point. I took a break and traveled to Australia for a month, followed by a week in St-Kitts for the Carribean Poker Tourney which was a blast. Now I'm back and I really want to work on my game and turn things around.

My main game has been 6-10 tabling 500nl, and I've been playing/running great over a significant sample size. But as soon as I move up to 5/10 I've just getting destroyed, and im not even kidding you (Stats at bottom of this post). I'm definitly not playing scared money since I'm always decently rolled and have come to the point that losing 5k pots doesnt really bother me that much? I think that is part of the problem, sometimes I just spew so horribly and make utterly dumb plays at lower limits because "I already lost a 10k pot, so 500-1k$ is nothing" which is stupid. Anyways...

My goal are the following:
-Talk more about poker with buddies..I'm probably the guy that talks to least poker through IM's, even though I have plenty of resources available.
-Do sweat reviews or vids/get coaching/coach someone
-Get better at note taking (notes have done me more harm than good)
-PLAY more hands, I want to get in 50k hands/month w/out going over 8tables
-Stop when I feel tilty/Never play tired
-Table select..I dont need to sit with the regs, at least not until my game is back on track
-My monetary goal remains at 20k/month incl. RB + Bonus

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I used the word Donk in the title not only because I want to play vs them and profit, but because I am a donk myself sometimes (often). This thread will be used to post my donkish plays of the day, and hopefully entertain a few of you.

These are most of my hands at those limits:

I withdrew a bunch and I'm left with a 8.4k BR, but I'll still play both 200nl and 500nl for now. Here we go!

You are really beating up the 500NL games for being a fairly heavy multitabler - very impressive!

good luck w/ 1kNL!!!

I decided to create a new PT database for the operation, as the old one was lagging badly anyways. I played a mini-session, saw some donks with double stacks at a table and we played 3-handed for a while. Here are the highlights:

1st three hands are almost back to back.

1) Standard
CryptoLogic

Blinds: $2/$5

Converter

Stack sizes:
Button: $763.31
SB: $1121.50
Alexos: $500

Pre-flop: (3 players) Alexos is BB with Seven of Hearts Seven of Spades
Button raises to $20, SB calls, Alexos calls.

Flop: Nine of Hearts Two of Spades Three of Hearts ($60, 3 players)
SB checks, Alexos checks, Button bets $40, SB folds, Alexos calls.

Turn: Nine of Clubs ($140, 2 players)
Alexos checks, Button checks.

River: Four of Hearts ($140, 2 players)
Alexos checks, Button checks.

Results:
Final pot: $140
Alexos shows 7h 7s
Button mucks Ah 3s

2)Here I figured he saw me call with 77 the hand before and check it down, so he would figure i'd fold to double barrels. On the river I just didnt think he'd value bet Jx this strongly, and he fired pretty quickly. I'm a station.

Turn: Jack of Spades ($102, 2 players)
Alexos checks, Button bets $75, Alexos calls.

River: King of Clubs ($252, 2 players)
Alexos checks, Button bets $185, Alexos calls.

Results:

He has A7o

3)I got TP, stackadonk! I got berated for the 66 call obviously, so I figured he could call with worse here

Results:
Final pot: $865.12
Button shows Tc Kc
Alexos shows Qc Kh

4) Villain is a 24/15 reg. It was pretty clear he has an overpair here i think. How is the betsizing, I thought maybe I should make it 200 on river instead.

River: Ace of Spades ($998, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $998)

Results:
Final pot: $998

6) Very tricky spot. The initial raiser is a laggy reg, kinda spewy. Against this guy I probably RR AK only 50% here, I know he calls my 3bets like always but is a good hand reader. The shortstack was mad aggro and terrible so I prolly flat AK 80% of the time in this situation. His RR to isolate shorty can mean anything from AJ to something like 88, maybe worse, since he knows SS is bad. I think it's an easy push vs this guy, against others I could fold this.

1. I bet river pretty much always
2. nice, this is a spot where unless the guy is vbetting thin you're going to own him. If he insta bets the river snap it. Timing is very important here.
3. I threebet here almost always, as played on the flop I lead. C/r overreps your hand a ton.
4. This is just pretty dependent on how you feel about opp.
5. I don't normally see a cbet with air here. there are a lot of slow down cards so i just take my SD value and call the flop.
6. I'd reraise AK here much more often than 50% of the time, especially given description of opp. As played yeah get it in.

1) What worse hands do you expect him to call with when we bet river?

3)I 3bet as well, but I just won 2 big pots off of him and didnt want to play OOP but still felt my hand has good value and a good kicker. Very good point about the c/r, I should def lead. Although I still dont mind getting in it he was def tilty.

5)It's just that I hate calling with marginal hands on super drawy flops, there are so many bad cards for me. The only good thing we have is position. This might be a leak of mine right here.

6)Against a decent laggy player I prefer to keep the pot small with a drawy hand...this guy will never 4bet crap, and pretty much always calls cbets. With the aggro donk behind me I still prefer flat calling against that guy. edit: basically i thought it was a good time to mix it up

Goddamn, someone still plays at Crypto, Poker's equivalent of a rock garden!?

Here my 2 cents worth:

Hand 1: I am surprised button didn't push the river. Unless you have been known to him to check/call with TPTK his bluffing was bad IMHO. Would you have called a river push?

Hand 2: Is that sexy coldcalling here with AA in position? Or was SB a push happy shortstack? But I understand you not wanting to blow CO out of the pot.

Hand 3: TT is right on the edge to take a stance here. If I push this turn is dependent on what my image is here. If you have been playing weakish against his 3-bets I like your line.

Hand 4: If its the first time you have been tangling against this regular in a big pot then I would lean towards a fold. However, isn't your 3-bet a little bit on the small side? OOP I like to make my 3-bets closer to 4x opening raise.

I called pf since I had raised the last few hands vs him, and knew he would eventually come back at me the next time I did it. I was pretty sure I had the best hand and could possibly have him dominated. Flop came good for as only AK/AA beat me and not too drawy either. I was intending to call a river bet as well.

Hand 2: Is that sexy coldcalling here with AA in position? Or was SB a push happy shortstack? But I understand you not wanting to blow CO out of the pot.

I think its fine if the 3better is known as a tight guy. If he's laggy you can definitly 4bet this hand more often, but in general it often means QQ+/AK. And yes it is sexy.

Hand 3: TT is right on the edge to take a stance here. If I push this turn is dependent on what my image is here. If you have been playing weakish against his 3-bets I like your line.

I like my line pf and flop. On turn I regret pushing here, this guy will never fold a J or better here, and if I just check he'll surely check behind 88 and 99. I dont see what else he could have here other than 88-99-Jx or set...c/f turn (not results oriented)

Hand 4: If its the first time you have been tangling against this regular in a big pot then I would lean towards a fold. However, isn't your 3-bet a little bit on the small side? OOP I like to make my 3-bets closer to 4x opening raise.

You're right I should of made it bigger, I usually make it 50$ for 15$ raises, 55-60 for 17-18$ raises and 65 for 20$ raise.

your comments are appreciated thx

I suck, you know this, so take it for what its worth:

1. I think this is good and the best line. He could show up with a K here but meh you have showdown value.
2. Fold preflop =)
3. I like pre. Flop looks good. With his stack and the pot size I think turn is ok but I think he has a J here a lot. You only really get called by 88 or 99 that you beat and I don't think they do this much. I guess c/f but what about c/c to induce more air?

Holy fuck. I'm so tilted right now, I just dropped about 3k in 15 minutes, putting me at -500 for the day. The tables were insane, with 4 tables running and 3-4 deepstacked fish on each tables running over 50VPIP....Paradise, right?

Nope...As it turns out I lost a 3.5k pot (700BB) with a FH vs quads against a guy running 67/13. In another hand I pushed with QQ on a 2234 board to rep a bluff and go instasnapcalled from a donk with AK, I shoved pot (330$). WTF!!

I'll post some hands tomorrow as im on life tilt now. Nite.

I think your looking at this hand from a very poor perspective. Stop thinking about bad cards for your hand for a second. There are too many turn cards that are great to bluff on, there are too many turn cards that allow you to suck out because they force him to slow down, our range can hit much harder on the turn and river than his, and you are playing for stacks with the worst hand 90% of the time.

I played a shittton the last 2 days, I cant even believe it. I moved my laptop to my room where I can fully concentrate, and it seems to be working as im focusing a lot more even if im multitabling heavily.

Here are the results of the past 2 days...I think I've run about avg as well, the fish have just been ridiculous. I also shortstacked some 5/10 as regulars were going at each other with deep stacks, but everytime I shortstack I get bad beat so much for some reason...maybe its karma..

I have a lot of hands to post, hopefully ill do it tmr its too late now..GN

asasfasfasfasddd...now i understand why people stop posting in their operation threads when things go bad!!!

ya so I dropped a few buyins during the week including flush over flush vs whale at 2kNL. BR back to 10k now so no more shots at higher limits for a while. I need to get my confidence back and start grinding again...

Too late to post hands now but I'll start updating this thing even if I'm losing $$...promise

zzzzz thanks for caring

I played about 3k hands and down 500$ today...I'm running sooooo bad, i can actually visualize the river fucking me over, and im getting pretty good at it.

Here are some interesting hands:

1) I'm not sure if I like this one. Villain is a mediocre player, like he overvalues AQ pre and stuff like that, but i wouldnt say hes terrible. I'm not sure what to make of his turn lead, but my guess would be AT+, 2 pair, 78, or clubs? When he checks river I'm pretty sure he doesnt have it, so I...value bluff? Likey?

But first, here is the previous hand I played against him:

2. yep I like that, you should be good after that river card imo.
3. I think I just call his minraise on flop and re-evaluate turn.

hand 1) i think i just check through river, he has two pair a lot

hand 2) I think i either push or fold turn, with pushing being more often. too many draws out

hand 3) he's so passive, how many hands? Just call min raise on flop and revaluate turn. donk lead maybe and fold to raise, given how passive he is.

Hand 1: Can he not fold better hands if we bet river, but also potentially call with worse? Hence the value bluff..

Or am i wrong and should just check back?

I played a bit more yesterday and ended up ~300$ for the day which is good considering how I ran.

Today I grinded out 1.5k hands for a profit of 2.1k dollaz! There was a mega mega whale that started out with 400$ at 2/4, luckboxed it to 4k on that table. Then he moved up to 80/160NL and won another 20k or so. Then he started with 800$ on 20/40 table and cashed out 30k, for a total profit of about 50k in a few hours. He was playing 78/10/1 and just the sickest sickest plays ever, god I love InterPoker sometimes. I played 20/40 for a bit shortstacking, and would have continued if my BR was what it
used to be. Here is how crazy he was:

Just finished another 500 hands session for 1.9k. Obv I broke my rules and played some 1knl but its hard to resist when the tables are soooo soft.

Nothing interesting, just value betting the hell out of them for the most part. Going to a christmas party, peaace and gl.

Hand 1 - weird... I guess you're beat with his min c/r. I call here too often though cause im a station.. but I'd imagine im almost always beat here.. but want to get shown the quads

Hand 2 -ul

Hand 3 - I think I fold this turn. He expects you to call, so I'd imagine you're beat with a flopped set/two pair

Hand 4 - I think you're beating 8x hands, but losing to flushes obviously. Flip a coin I feel like

Hand 5 - check/bomb if you think he'll bet a mid pair, bet if you think he'll check through

This was a sick sick month. I started with 8.3k on Dec 4th, got it up to 19k within a week, only to drop most of it the following week. Went to NY for a few days to freshen up, came back and had my best week ever.

Last week (mega-tabling):

Got 2nd in a rakerace for 3k, and 6k Rakeback on top of that for my best month ever +$28k.

BR 36.5k

My goals for the next few months is to get better reads on the regs and own them in 3bet pots. I will play a lot more 5/10 as I am now comfortably rolled for it. Happy new year!

Somehow I keep winning. I've been table selecting the 5/10 games and ive been doing good. I did a prop bet with Griffey24 that the first to get to a BR of 100k gets 1% of the loser's BR at that point in time. He started at 61k and I started at 39k, even though he plays alot more 5/10 and 10/20 than I do. I think I got owned by taking this bet, but ill try to put in some more volume and somehow catch up. After today my roll is 50.4k and his is around 70k i think, so we're both benefiting.

Stats from january 1st! Wheeeee heater

Sup guys,

Poker is going steady, up another 2k today in a non-eventfull session. I almost feel bad that I got ahead of Griffey24 in our 100k bet, its never fun to see someone lose that much, especially since i know how it feels like to be in a sick downswing. Oh well, I hope I win our bet by like only a few thousands, 1% of 99k is better than 1% of 50k anyways,,,heheh!

I also found out about GrinderSchool today while talking to Jyms. Although training sites are nothing new, i still think its a good business idea and wish them the best of luck. I always wanted to start a business and the money gained from poker certainly gives me more options, hopefully i get some bright ideas in the near future:)

I'm off to bed, gluck all.

Things have been shaky since the last update, i think ive been breakeven in poker, thx to winning a VIP freeroll for about 2k. I shortstacked 10/20 a bit yesterday and lost two 70/30 "flips", then lost another 1k playing full stacked:P I don't think I'm ready to play those Scandinavians at 1o/20 yet, they're just way too crazy for me.

BR 54k, so its still good..my goal is to be at >60k at the end of the month.

Kinda got bored with poker these days, maybe it's because of the sick amount of hands ive been putting up last month. Anyways, I started playing HU 100 and 200nl on PS just for fun, and the games are so good its amazing. Maybe it's because I havnt played any regulars up to now, but the play seems very bad even for a HU noob like me. HU is just a sick sick game though, i think this is the REALest form of poker ever.

My stats seem insane but I was playing this guy HU and the match was totally nutz.

yeah ill post them in a bit if no one has anything to comment...again im still unsure of how light to get it in HU and while it probably has everything to do with the flow of the match, im not certain of relative hand strengths yet.

Kmind - I'm almost never playing on Stars, but as long as I'm bored of 6max on InterPoker, I'll continue to play either HU and random sng/mtt on PS.
