This evening was a killer. It wasn't that the cards weren't comming. The players just wouldn't behave!

When I flopped big no one called (except when I trippled up with AQo flopping 2 pair.) Even the call stations were dropping when I put a modest bet on a flopped straight.
When I flopped medium-strong I got called with nothing and then outdrawn.
Err...
Down $70 for the evening so far...

Then the table turns into a rock garden. So I go into rock crushing mode. A little strong when strong, a little strong when weak. Play in position. Get out of dodge at any strength shown back. Gives the rocks fits!

Then just as I'm picking up more than my fair share of unwanted pots, Mr. Maniac takes a seat with immediate position on me. Starts mad raising pre-flop killing my ability to limp. Re-raises my steals. My stack errodes, I consider leaving, then decide to adapt and hang around to see if I win the inevitable lottery when this guy dumps his stack. Mr Maniac terrorizes the rocks as the more clever ones prepare their traps. He outdraws two traps giving him a very healthy stack. I try to slow play manic a bit on a hand and he doesn't bite.

Then I catch AKs on the button. I open/limp looking to re-raise, manic just complets his SB (dang), BB checks. Flop is A A A! Checked around as no one bites. Turn is a K, I realize no one is paying me off as it's checked around again. River is a 5, check, check, I go all-in in fustration and show my nut to the table. That's when I figured him out. He doesn't steal many pots, he over-bets/raises on semi-bluffs against small bets! I think Maniac got the message, as limping became safe again. I got back to picking up some small pots and my stack recovers.

Next big hand I'm on the button with a King and 8 of spades and limp in. Flop is A X X all spades. Rock in front bets $5. Hmm... decision time. I figure he might have a set or two pair and no-way I want to get drawn out here. Besides I'm not sure if Manic respects my bets anyway. I re-raise to $15. Maniac calls! Rock calls. Turn is a random spade, putting out the four flush. Rock bets again, I throw in the rest of my chips, maniac calls, rock calls for the buck or two he has left. River is nice and blank. Maniac shows the Queen, I show the King, Rock doesn't show.

Very interesting evening... All and all I was happy to come out down about 10 bucks.

Do you play KXs often? This is one of those hands I'm always curious about playing because it looks so sexy.
