fourth hand against this villain and he was 50/50 after this hand having posted in the CO.
With his min reraise Pre , I put him probably on high pocket pair or maybe AK. Flop was nice and turn was yummy for me. Was planning to check raise him on the turn as I thought he may have folded his overpairs/overcards if I had bet at that turn board, but he checked it back. River was yuck as flush draws came in , but with the range i gave him only AK of hearts had me beat.I was hoping that he'd check it down , but when he shoved it felt like maybe AA,KK or missed straight draw trying to steal the pot. How does the range sound and would you have called?

I prefer to bet the turn to get the money in rather letting AhKh have a free card. On the river we need to be winning 40% of the time to break-even, so probably a call.

What do you think of betting or check raising the flop?

Trouble with that is that you are just aiming at one hand in his range. Once the straight potentially completes he isn't gonna be happy with putting money in with his overpairs.

He's reraised me pre. if hes on AA KK QQ JJ and I bet/check raise the flop he's probably going to be raising it up again and i'll have between 7 and 12 outs/ At best I'll be flipping or I could be a big underdog. With only 4 hands on the guy very litttle experience of him and his tendencies. so I opted to control the size of the pot till i hit.

We need to be betting the turn, otherwise we make it really easy on him to play his entire range pretty much perfectly.

Yes to what Spoon said. He has a lot in his range that will have trouble folding even on a 4-straight board.

This all the way. The thing is with bad stationy villains is that they'll get stubborn with they're decent hands (AT, any set, any FD, any two pair, JJ+) on scare cards and just begrudgingly call as often as you bet, but when they're like "oh no's, i don't have the nuts anymore" they become much more wary about value betting. so if you want JJ's stack, then just bet, bet, bet, bet.

your line only maximizes value against like a completely whiffed AcQc or something in the case that one of his six dirty outs hit on the river.

the river sucks, lol
