I know this thread is going to get packed full of responses. So first and foremost,
I AM A Begginner, Not to be confused with Fish
So this is everything from my point of view. You have taken the time to post articles. On that much love should be shown. Someday I will do the same, to repay the debt of "teaching" the ropes. There is to much to write about poker, as a whole, then 1 person would ever want to do. So for you ( OR ANYONE THAT HAS POSTED OR WRITTEN AN ARTICLE ) to take the time out of your lives ( and playing time) to write is apprieciated. Live/home games (where I came from) are nothing like online. Without FTR, more so the PEOPLE of FTR I would have lost my entire BR and I am sure of this.

Here is my biggest point.

Forum - a public meeting or assembly for open discussion

That is the point to FTR (as I see it ) since the first day I visited FTR. Yes there will always be differences. I would hate for this "flaming" that has been going on, to cause someone to NOT post something because of harsh criticism. I remember reading where 1 poster stated he did not like writing articles because of this fact. And that is only a lose to the community and that person.

Quote:
Others have good advice too. But you knew that because your an adult.

That is the best statement yet. All of us are over the age 18 and should be able to act it.
The BS that has went on is in the past, and I can only look forward to the next "WOW that opened my eyes" article from anyone.

On your side AOK. Not a lemming follower like some would like to believe we all do. But your stickies and posts helped me bail out of losing a second, third or more deposits. I lost my first deposit in 3 days, thinking that suited or 34rags were my way to riches. Don't let anyone throw ya off your posting. I'm sure you don't need a list of references of people that have been much loved and hated, that have succeeded to be something more, to know that there are weak ass rookies like me that need yours and others help. YOU ROCK THE BEGINNER FORUM.

Very nice explanation of your views aok. I for one enjoy reading your post and to be honest they are far easier to follow than alot of the post on here or most other boards for that matter. You are able to simplify explanations and make them very understadable for me to comprehend. I have to admit, I get lost a lot of times when all the math gets thrown out there (and I've been through Calc and Analytic Geometry 3, although I left school after that and never used the math so forgot most all of it. You know, dont use it you loose it). But your writings and explanations are very easy to follow and put into play. And I appreciate that emensely. Personally I dont care if some folks dont like your theories, We're all adults and should be able to make that choice ourselves. I look forward to your replies to questions asked and hope you continue to answer these questions.

I agree with whats been said in this thread, your posts are appreciated. As with everything people should question and ask why, and for your posts it is no different. Your posts are very well written and thought out and I appreciate the time it takes you to write them and even if we dont use everything you say, what we do take from your posts helps us. I used to play SNGs and did decently with those, but decided to switch to cash games and read your post about the 19 hands which I used and adapted to my playstyle and has proved to be successful for me. Again, keep posting here, your words are appreciated.

Nice to learn a bit about you.

Im interested in this quote, as big bluffs are simply something I dont do at NL ring (more than capable in tournys though!) so this is a bit of profit I'm missing out on and amunition I lack. What suprises me though is you also mention 95% of the time you play without reads (I sometimes have sessions like these also) but that must make a big bluff opportunity even harder to spot and pull off. But anyway more importantly some HH's or examples with brief analysis of big bluffs would be sweeeet.

Aok,

Nice post. Yeah, I'm a kool ade drinking, 19 hand strategy using disciple. Smile

Seriously, I believe that those who have something against you should address it in the manner in which it needs to be addressed. As for the situation that may or may not have happened between you and Mannerboy, as far as I can tell, it has been addressed and FORGOTTEN. I am of the opinion that this post stems much in part to what took place in a post over the weekend. While it was brought out, I believe that one individual had underlying motives or deep seeded resentment that should have been addressed in another thread.

As for your style, I have used some of what you have taught and dang gone it, guess what? I started to make a profit at cash games; whereas previous to that, I totally sucked at cash games and constantly went busto. As a black man, I see the differences between what AOK teaches and others objections as, the same as Dr Martin Luther King and Malcolm X had in their teachings (stay with me for a moment and I bring this around to poker). Some thought that MLK was too passive(tight) and others thought Malcolm was too pushy(aggressive). Well, the debate raged on for decades as to who was right, but ultimately, EACH MAN HAD HIS OWN STYLE. Same for poker, I was reading on another forum last night, 2p2, and I was amazed at how some of the members were ragging hard on Dan Harringtons' Vol 2 of his book. Posting how wrong he was on his strategy, his hand examples were poor, blah, blah,blah.... And I am wondering to myself what in the world are these people thinking. Here you have a guy who has a bracelet from the WSOP, multiple final table finishes and a feared cash game player and they are giving him hell! Now, what is that? Because we all see things from our view and our own ideas of what is right or wrong.
Aok, has provided a much needed guide to man of the beginners in this forum. A much welcomed show of hospitality for those who aspire to be great at poker, like myself. I do not personally know him, but I have found his work to be of A BENEFIT(+ EV). So thats my take on some of this.

ps. it was said that he attempts to suck people in, and get them for money. Well, I wanted to address that also. I PMed AOK once, told him of who i am, what I was attempting to do and asked would he coach me. I even offered to pay for his time. And he kindly said that it was best to allow me to rail him at the tables and talk across Skype. So if money was(is) his motivation, he's not too good at taking the opportunities to get it.

Thanks for the kudo's. No need to worry about it. Water under the bridge and all that. But thank. And keep making money!! Malcom, Martin and Dan Harrington are all good people! Smile And they earned the right to say whatever they want in my book. My sng play is based entire on the teaching of the great Dr. King. LOL, no wait, Harrington, yea.

Mr. O'Krongly, as someone who has benefitted immensely from your "beginner's" advice I'd just like to add this thought.

I think that anyone who purports to be "advanced", "expert" , "excellent" or what have you, is worthy of suspicion.

One is always a beginner. If you stop being one, then you're dead.
