Opp is playing like very loose passive but in a reggy way. He is playing relatively loose preflop, raising prob 75% of BU but calling 12% from the BB, and threeebetting very little, he's only threebet once in our match. We're across two tables and i have the feeling we're going to be playing for awhile. He is folding way way too much, i have been threebetting him a lot and he's folding 90% of the time. He has not bluffed yet but has been making standard call downs.

Pretty much I feel like this may be taking a stand, but i highly doubt enough to the point where this play is remotely +EV. Although, I am betting that he has AK a lot of the time we felt. BUT metagame looks really good here. This is the first time he's fourbet me in like 200 hands and im felting 34s??? Seems to send a message that im not folding at all and he's going to just play straightforward because i am a "maniac," leaving me in an extremely +EV match. Is this as important as I think it is?

I was thinking lately about doing this just for the sake of it, to put a bad beat on a guy and to turn a loose passive "nit"? into a tilty calling station. If you are prepared to take the worst of it for his tilting implied odds. It sounds stupid, I know. But I know that if I lose, I will have a great image and won't steam as much as he will when I win.

Also, if there is any chance he is just playing back at your 3bets without a hand, I love it.

My thoughts are more the opposite, that he continues to not even consider playing back or bluffing, because I'm not folding. I'm very happy to play a loose passive player who doesn't bluff.

I like it. Many players can't play their A-game after losing here and this is certainly not very much -EV since he only needs to fold about 55% of the time for this to be profitable.

EV wise it's usually better to 5-bet bluff with a small pair (in heads up).

I also think that if he folds, but still continues 4-betting with the same frequency, that you should continue 5-bet bluffing him every now and then until he calls once.

Yeah, sure, you can stop maniacs or superaggressive players from bluffing you that way. But generally, loose passive type nit will call you down more when you make that play, I believe. The way you described villain, doesn't seem like you should be afraid of him bluffing you, but you should encourage him to call you more and this is a good play to encourage that, epsecially if you win and get him on tilt. I don't know if I made my point clear.

What? He plays ridic tight against 3bets and you want to get him off his hand here? No. For metagame, value stacking yourself is not the way to do it.

Or am I missing something? Is this not a completely standard 'tight player shows up with hand' situation?
