Qualifying for the PCA Bahamas can be done for less than $1, although players will have to battle through several online tournaments. More experienced players opt to enter modest PCA rebuy satellites or PCA freezeouts with buy-ins upwards of $200. Sit and Go specialists have been known to grind the PokerStars step satellites. Live PCA Satellites are few and far between, but Mohegan Sun and Golden West Casino hosted a limited number that awarded seats to the 2011 PCA. Typically PCA Poker Prize Packages award qualifiers a PCA Main Event Seat, accommodations at the luxurious Atlantic Resort and Casino, and spending money. These PCA Poker Packages are valued at more than $10,000.
The variety of tournaments at the PokerStars PCA is mesmerizing and PokerStars continues to expand the schedule each year. The 2011 PCA is slated be the biggest yet, and spans more than a week from January 6th to January 16th. In addition to a Main Event, participants will find a PCA Ladies Event, Charity Event, Bounty Tournament, and tournaments with zany rules such as H.O.E. and Fiple Draw. PokerStars has even managed to combine poker fishing in the Fish and Chips Showdown. Thankfully, the results on the felt will be weighted more than what a player can do as an angler.
Two highlights of the 2011 PCA are sure to be the Ladies Event and the PCA Charity Tournament. Team PokerStars Pros Vanessa Rousso, Liv Boeree, and Vanessa Selbst will be on hand to train the lovely ladies at the Sunset Poker BeachCamp. After their minds are focused, the women will settle things on the table at the PCA Women's $1,000 Main Event. Poker players are some of the most generous people on the planet and the 2011 PCA Charity Event is sure to reveal this. The PokerStars PCA 2010 Charity Event raised nearly $100,000 for amFAR, an AIDS research foundation. This year, the PCA Charity Event is a $500 rebuy event with unlimited rebuys, so the charity coffers are sure to be overflowing thanks to the Poker Caribbean Adventure.
The PokerStars PCA Ladies Event and the Highroller Tournament will garner some attention, but the Main Event is the major attraction of this Caribbean poker adventure. One lucky player will be crowned champion and collect more than $2,000,000. Last year, Florida's Harrison Gimbel took down the PCA Main Event, winning $2,200,000. His victory at the Poker Carribbean Adventure propelled him to another win at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Regional Event in November 2010. Past PCA champions include Gus Hansen, WSOP Bracelet Winner John Gale, and Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand Grospellier. Grospellier, known as ElkY to some, has transitioned from pro gamer to professional poker player. He has amassed more than $5,000,000 in winnings.
As you can see, the PokerStars PCA is quite the spectacle. With a little effort, you can join in on the fun and rub elbows with celebrities. Oh, and you'll have a shot at winning millions. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is simply a great mixture of poker and fun in the sun. You won't find anything like the PCA Bahamas on the planet Earth.
