Poker Talk Forum Fanatic | 2000NL: HU w aejones and I wanna close eyes and click call
In this month's excerpt, we take a look at some higher stakes brainstorming with this hand from ESS123 in our High Stakes NLH forum.
We are 4 tabling. I've been firing multiple barrels a ton, but it's pretty early. Poker Stars $10/$20 No Limit Hold'em - 2 players - BB: $6014.50 Hero (BTN/SB): $2000.00 Pre Flop: ($30.00) Hero is BTN/SB with K 9![]() Hero raises to $40, BB calls $20 Flop: ($80.00) 8 3 6 (2 players)BB checks, Hero bets $60, BB calls $60 Turn: ($200.00) K (2 players)BB checks, Hero bets $160, BB calls $160 River: ($520.00) J (2 players)BB checks, Hero bets $380, BB raises to $5754.50 all in, Hero...? ... IowaSkinsFan: Yeah this is definitely a fold your range is so strong and he has absolutely nothing he can rep. It's probably just 66. ESS123: I think he is repping nothing and I think he thinks I will 3barrel this board very often. I also think he will lead a nonzero% with a set, even tho I think this is horrible. I'm not surprised if this is a hand turned into a bluff. nutsinho: i dont think it is possible for him to have nothing, and it seems like you have enough perceived air in your range that he would not feel compelled to turn something into a bluff. it is of course a very good play when used sparingly if im folding everything worse than KJ from my wide valuebetting range but I just think he has little motivation to pull it often enough for you to be concerned. and his single most likely hand is definitely 88, though i think i would call with KJ IowaSkinsFan: I could imagine a very good player like AE shoving in this type of spot as a bluff but no way in this board texture. You may be 3 barrelling very light here but he can't rep anything. I think its pretty obvious to him that its much more likely your calling with a hand like 63/J8 than folding it. Numbr2intheWorld: agree with nuts. Just isnt a bluff, as for your calling range... i feel like you should fold 33 here idk if i do it in the moment though. ATOTHEC101: This is probably a fold but the idea of folding 33 here seems ridic to me seeing as he can def have stuff like k6,k8,kj and is now jamming for value. Calling range is probably kj+ and even that feels really exploitable. Numbr2intheWorld: Of course its exploitable! But he's probably not exploiting it. There's no reason for him to think you're folding even AK here. ESS123: i think K8 is more of a call than KJ ATOTHEC101: Meh, blockers are overated. kj feels like an easier call than k8 in my mind for obvious reasons. Theres probably a decent chance he 3 bets both pre anyway, more so 88 due to it being harder to play oop, but maybe not if you're calling alot of his 3 bets in position. I actually think this is fairly close to a call. Numbr2intheWorld: He 3bets K8, KJ, and 88 pre? I'm wondering why you think so... Personally i don't 3bet any of these as a default (although that can change very quickly) but my mind could be changed. IowaSkinsFan: If I was AE I would never ever bluff here, and I assume he'd think the same thing. Click here to read more from this topic in our Poker Forum. Poker News | Bwin Among Top 10 Online Gaming Brands
Any online gambling company with a desire to perform well in today’s crowded market has to spend millions on marketing. Brand penetration, word-of-mouth advertising and countless other buzzwords spin around the offices of PR executives, all conspiring to make sure you know their products. Whether through TV adverts, web interstitials or giant billboards, just hearing about a particular online poker room makes you considerably more likely to spend your money there.
Apiafi Associates is a firm of independent gambling consultants that was recently commissioned to perform a study into which of the many online gaming companies was the most popular with internet users. They used the Google Alerts service in order to gauge which brands had customers most interested and invested. The Alerts resource allows any user to select a topic and then have Google email them with relevant news and web results relating to their selected topics. Apifia Associations recorded how many of these Google Alerts were generated daily for specific company names during the month of December 2009. They then combined this with some additional information to produce a list of the top ten most popular online gaming brands. Click here to read more of this news. Poker Article | Playing No Limit Hold'em Games with an Ante
By bigspenda73One of the recent trends in online poker is the introduction of No Limit Hold’em cash games with an Ante. Major sites such as FullTilt, UB (formerly UltimateBet), and Absolute Poker have added these games to their lobby looking to attract more players. Ante games tend to bring more action and create bigger pots, which is great for those looking for some instant excitement. Those who learned the game by playing live (casino) poker might already be familiar with antes. For those who are unfamiliar with antes they are another forced bet before the flop typically 20-25% the size of the Big Blind. Before each hand is dealt players will “ante up”, creating a pot prior to the start of the hand. In some live games, players ante up just once each round when they are on the button. In this case, players will ante a much larger amount, but only have to do it once every orbit. Understanding how the ante affects the game will go a long way in adjusting your strategy for ante games. First of all, the use of the ante automatically creates a larger pot before the flop. This “dead money” in the middle attracts a lot of action as players fight over the blinds and the antes pre flop. The simple fact is ante games play looser than non-ante games, which can be both beneficial for tight and loose players. Click here to read more from this article. After two players left the table at a live game, the third man to leave after them is called the "third man walking." This player is usually required to return to the table in ten minutes or after one round of the table.
Example: I had to rush back to my table quickly since I was the third man walking. Click here to browse our Poker Dictionary or to add your own poker phrase or term. Randomness Warpe: While I would never recommend anyone get married before they are 30 without a good education behind them and a career on track, the main benefit of starting a family in your early twenties like I did is that your kids are out of the house while you're still young and healthy enough to enjoy life. I know a number of people my age who are still dealing with daycare and getting kids to soccer practice while the biggest thing I have to negotiate with my sons is who's buying the next round.
