I tried to play on Hollywood Poker
strictly for the bonuses. After doing
their ipod bonus I found out from a
livehelp representative that those same
bonuses can be redone over and over, but
you can not gain a prize more than 1
time. So I started doing the $50 bonus
over and over since this takes less
hands to clear than the higher bonuses
so its the obviously choice to repeat.
After repeating the $50 bonus and
getting well over $1k in about 2 weeks
period of time, the support changed on
me. Overall I spoke with about 8
different people at various times and
each would tell me different stories and
would lie about what was going on. It
was starting to be more and more
difficult for them to give me the
bonuses even though at the beginning
several people told me the bonuses would
be unlimited. Each person would tell me
a different story that would all
contradict with each other. I even had
them lie to me about what they told me
previously, when I asked to see where
this was said (they have all records of
conversation logs), they failed to show
me where (I already knew it was a lie).
Such a disgrace to customer service...
So my review of this site is to be
careful. They have decent bonuses only
because you can play more than 4 tables
by joining waitlists, but the customer
support was complete hell to deal with.
At this point, they actually cut me
off.
Another issue is their software. It
seems really buggy and maybe about 10
occations I would have a random table
that I was playing just close. So when
this table closed, it would kick me from
the table and I would have no clue which
table it was.
Lots of potential with bad players, but
hardly makes up for the bad software and
horrible support.

I just signed up today, and played about
6 hours. I had no problems using the
software, and found it very
straightforward. There are always
Tables to join, but some of the SNG's
you may have to wait a while to fill up
later at night. I can't comment on
Technical support yet. I play very Low
lmit NL .10 and it is just full of
calling stations. I started playing
like everyone else for a while, until I
reviewed some notes I had. My opinion
is the bonuses are decent, but I have
little experience here as well. The
biggest problem in the low limit rooms
is that EVERYONE calls, it's insane. I
don't have the cash too move up yet.
Hope this helps a bit.

NUTS: Their initial deposit bonuses are some of the biggest in the online poker industry. Their software allows players to resize tables; a feature that is still hard to find at many online poker rooms. The lobby has fantastic filters that make finding tables extremely easy. Action at the Ongame poker network can sometimes reach all the way up to $5/$10. The fish:reg ratio at HollywoodPoker is quite high making the games very lucrative.
-
BEATS: After the initial installation, HollywoodPoker downloads additional files for ten minutes before initial launch. The tournaments action isn't too great (better tournaments can be found elsewhere). The software can be a bit sluggish at times with the framerate sometimes slowing down to a crawl on even the best computers. The system requirements for the software are quite high.

Hollywood Poker.com Overview
HollywoodPoker is where you can play with the stars! Literally. Well, maybe not stars but people who you might have seen on TV. HollywoodPoker is powered by Safepay Int. S.R.L., a company incorporated under the laws of Costa Rica. Hollywood Poker is a member of the Ongame Network and shares traffic with the likes of Bwin and TowerGaming. Hollywood Poker does NOT accept US players to play for real money.
If you're used to the old HollywoodPoker and haven't played there for a while, be prepared for a lot of changes. They have switched networks a couple times and seemed to have finally found a home with the OnGame network. The software has changed drastically since it ran on its own network, which is both good and bad. There are plenty of tables to be found in both their Texas Hold’em and Omaha games. Hollywood does offer some more obscure games such as Seven Card Stud and Five Card Draw but these games do not receive nearly the action as NL Texas Hold’em does. Even during non-peak hours there is plenty of action to be found at Hollywood Poker!
Tournament and Sit & Go action is quite popular as well, although not as much as cash games. You should usually be able to find a game for your bankroll. Sit & Goes range from $.50 + $.03 up to $500 + $25 and come in a wide variety of formats. Players can choose from heads-up, short-handed, 10-handed, turbo, multi-table, deep-stack, and coin flip SNGs. They also have a unique SnG tournament called ‘MAD Tilt ALL-IN’, which starts you off with 60 chips and 10-20 blinds. You can play these with up to 50 players (with 3 places paid) if you really feel like gambling! They also offer specials, such as ‘King of the Hill’ tournaments, which are like STEPs. The grand prize is $2500 if you can work your way up to the top! There are a good range of MTTs as well, offering $14 million guaranteed every month. Their most popular guaranteed tournaments are the $22 ($10k and $20k guaranteed) and $33 rebuys ($30k guaranteed). On the last Sunday of each month there is a tournament with a $1000 + $40 buy-in which has $1,000,000 guaranteed! There is usually an overlay and it is definitely worth playing if you have the bankroll.
Speaking of tournaments, they have some interesting regular events. Every Saturday night they have the ‘Michael Woods Invitational Tournament’. This is a $10+1 tournament that anyone can enter. A number of celebrities play, and they have $20 bounties each. Knocking out celebs will also net you 2 Bounty Hunter Points for their leaderboard. Here is a partial list of celebs from the leaderboard: Vince Van Patten; Michael Kane; Mena Suvari; James Woods; Ricki Lake; Kato Kaelin; Scott Baio; Mimi Rogers; Tim Busfield; and Michael Ian Black. It looks a lot like Bravo!'s ‘Celebrity Poker Showdown’, doesn't it? They also have an ‘Easy Money’ tournament where it's a $5+$1 buy in and 50% of the entrants will win money. For first time depositors, you can enter the ‘Red Carpet’ tournament, which is free. They only throw in $2 per entrant, so it’s not necessarily a big prize pool, but it's something. They also have freerolls throughout the day.
This site does have some neat things to entice players. The celeb factor is interesting. Recently, Michael Woods, Timothy Busfield and Ricki Lake were all hanging out in the chat room. But, again, unless you were a fan of ‘Thirty Something’ or daytime talk shows you might not care all that much. Still, it’s a fun place to play regardless.
Now that Hollywood has found its home at OnGame, it has joined in with their newest promotion, the ‘Value Back Player Program’. This program is great for any players out there who prefer receiving cash back instead of tournament entries and other non-cash prizes. Based on the amount of Player Points accumulated each calendar month, (earned by participating in real cash games and tournaments) you will be designated as either a ‘Club Hollywood Poker’ Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium, or Walk Of Fame Medalist. Then, depending on your Medalist level, you can qualify for anywhere between 8% to 40% cash back!
Hollywood Poker.com Software Interface/Usability
HollywoodPoker's software has some very cool features, but it has one MAJOR cosmetic issue. If you look at the picture above, that is what every table looks like - exactly. The same people; sitting in the same chairs. You get no choice, so you might be the busty babe in red. Or you might find yourself pictured as the grandma in Seat 10. You can turn these avatars off if you prefer. The lobby has a nice layout and is standard for OnGame. You can select Cash Games or Tournaments and then find a table or tournament that suits you. One annoyance with the cash games is that you can't view them all at once. You have to select between Micro, Low, Medium or High stakes from a drop down box. Also, the stakes indicator can be confusing. For example, it lists $1-$2 in the lobby when the game may actually be $.50 - $1. We’re unsure as to why this is.
Expanding the game window to full screen really shows the impressive detailed graphics (for a poker room anyway) but obviously you wouldn't use it if you play multiple tables. It does have some really useful features. The note taking is more detailed than on other sites. You can also classify people and tag them with a little colored button that will go next to their name. You can determine which button stands for what. So you can label one Tight/Aggressive and then tag someone with it. So once you have the table pegged you can just look at the button you placed next to each player to see how to play them. This is a useful option in our opinion. You can also write notes on each player as well.
Especially interesting is that you can vote people off of a table if they are being abusive or obnoxious. The current bet, pot size, and rake are all clearly visible at the bottom of the screen. The chat window is easy to manage. You can simply click on the options to the left of the chat window to decide if you want dealer chat, table chat, both. You can also make the chat window external and bigger to fit the side of the game screen. Last, but not least, you can have a stats bar open up at the bottom of your screen to keep a running tab on your current session. Players can now resize tables to any size they would like. For those who enjoy playing a lot of tables you could probably fit up to 9 tables on a 20” monitor. Resizing the tables is quite simple; just click on any corner and drag until the table is the dimensions you’re looking for.
Hand histories are instantly available at the table, and you can also save them to your computer automatically. Then you can use Poker Tracker/HUDs to help while playing.
Hollywood Poker.com Poker Room Action
HollywoodPoker has some decent action. They have a lot of tables and a large number of players. There always seem to be tables with 1 seat open just waiting for you. The players are pretty similar to most poker-only sites. A lot of people learning the game, but here some are also drawn in by the Hollywood factor. You'll see some money thrown around mindlessly. Most players are at the no-limit tables, but you can find some limit and Omaha donks sitting around. They don't accept US players so the peak time for the most action is late/early Eastern Time. They have a fairly consistent number of players connected, around 15,000+ during peak hours.
While their tournaments and SNGs may not have as many players as sites such as PokerStars and FullTilt they are still well ahead of the curve. If you enjoy mass multi-tabling turbo SNGs you should not have much trouble finding a bunch of games at the lower stakes. A lot of the small and mid-stakes tournaments get decent action even at non-peak hours and most of them have guarantees which help the tournaments grow as well.
Hollywood Poker's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
HollywoodPoker has a few things working for itself when it comes to fish. First of all, the idea of playing with celebrities attracts more recreational players to the site. Also, not allowing American players always keeps the games softer and full of Europeans. These two factors combine to make Hollywood Poker one of the softest poker rooms online today. The micro and small stakes games should be easily beatable even for those new to poker.
Their tournaments and SNGs are equally fishy. The turbo SNGs are full of players who do not understand basic bubble math and the guaranteed events help to attract bad players to their scheduled tournaments. Whether you enjoy playing cash games, tournaments, or SNGs, you should have little trouble finding players willingly donating their bankrolls to you.
Hollywood Poker.com Bonuses and Promotions
Here's another part of HollywoodPoker that is interesting. They have a total of six different initial deposit bonuses you can choose from! Pick the one that suits your bankroll the best. None of these bonuses require a bonus code, so make sure you sign up through the links on this page.
We will review how to earn them first, making it easier to choose which one you like. All of these bonuses require between 8 points per bonus dollar and are released in different increments based on the bonus you choose. Five of these bonuses expire in 90 days with the biggest bonus expiring in 60 days. This gives plenty of time to clear the bonuses and you may need it since they can take a LONG grind! For every $.10 you pay in rake, you earn fractions of points. They start at $.10 - $.19, which is worth .1 points, $.20 - $.29 .2 points, $.3 - $.39 .3 points, and so on up to $3+ for 3 points. You also earn 5 points for every $1 in tournament fees.
Their biggest bonus is a 400% Professional Player bonus worth up to $1,000. Players are only given 60 days to clear the bonus which means they'll need to average 134 points per day to clear the entire bonus. The bonus is released in $500 increments which means this bonus is meant to be cleared by high-stakes players. Players that do not grind high-stakes for a ton of volume should choose one of the other bonuses.
The next bonus down the ladder is the Grinder Player bonus. This gives players a 500% deposit bonus worth up to $500. Players have 90 days to clear this bonus which means players need to earn an average of 45 points per day to clear the entire bonus. The bonus is cleared in increments of $100 so it is a lot easier than the Professional Player bonus to grind out a piece. This is the recommended bonus for most players.
The Aggressive Player bonus is similar to the Grinder Player bonus. There are two differences however. Firstly, players are only able to receive up to $250. Secondly, this bonus is released in $50 increments. This bonus is recommended for microstakes players that put in a lot of volume.
There are 3 smaller bonuses offered ranging from $25 - $100, but we wouldn't recommend them. These are smaller and it is worth building up your bankroll until it is large enough for at least the third bonus. All of these require 8 Player Points per $1.
The larger bonuses are all great and have their own advantages- some of the best offered anywhere. The only downside is they can take a LONG time to complete. Obviously, it makes more sense for the serious player to take up one of the larger bonus options because there is an opportunity to walk away with a lot of free cash. For the smaller stakes player, just looking to test out this room, one of the smaller bonus options would be perfect.

Hollywood Poker.com Customer and Technical Support
HollywoodPoker's support was great. We used their live chat function built into their website and came away satisfied. We were chatting with a representative within seconds and they always had a quick answer to anything thrown at them. They even offered to help us setup our account and make our initial deposit, going over with us which bonus would be best. They also have e-mail support, which tends to be slower but still decent. We recommend using the live chat if you have a quick problem.

I've had problems with the software
(mac). Sometimes a new table will open
up in an already open table. Then the
lobby area closes down and I can't get
to the original table. Then I have to
restart, but the restart takes an odd 10
min to load.
I also don't like the fact that they
are investing their money into luring
celbrities and models to their site.
I'd rather see better promos or
freerolls for the players.
I know I'm not supposed to mention
conspiracy theories but I play here
because I've assigned a 3% chance
probability that another mac based site
is a little slanted and that was enough
for me to dipset.
ALSO they do have a good support. They
share a server or software with
Pokerroom. The system crashes every now
and then. Hollywood will give u a
reimbursement ticket while pokerroom
won't respont to your emails.

HOllywoodpoker.com
Stay Away From HollywoodPoker.com,
I have never seen such a catty site in
my life. The
members are more interested in trying to
talk to
the so called stars who visit than
playing poker.
Watch out for one lady their in
particular if she
doesn’t like you she will get the ever
present online
support to ban you.
Very amateurish place. They can boast
about having
high traffic but you can wait for up to
an hour for
one of the tables to fill. Most of the
traffic comes
from Pokerroom.com … which they are
linked to.

I stumbled upon Hollywood poker
though a different poker advice
site. I was lured by the bonus.
I think Hollywood Poker is my favorite
poker site between partypoker (second
favorite), and pokerrewards (awful,
after I finish the bonus rakes I'm
never coming back. It has a lot to do
with their user agreement condemning
bonus chasers, like me).
I had some trouble with depositing
the money and had to call the customer
service line. The person was very
helpful. I had to call again, and was
answered quickly by another customer
service rep who answered all my
questions.
They have always had an actually
person watching the open room chat
lines. I remember "overhearing" about
someone rant about two players building
each other up in a money game. The
"watcher" told the "ranter" to send
an email with the names of the people.
I do not know what happened after, but
the fact that someone from the site
listened to a client spoke volumes to
me.
The 1000 bonus is both good and
bad. You get 50.00 for every 750 raked
hands. The bad; that's a lot of raked
hands. The good; Well you can see some
of your bonus earlier then another sight
where you get nothing until your 2000th
raked hand.
The poker rooms/software are
drawn in an above average fashion. (I
am a guy, and I appreciate the rather
volumptous blonde character on the upper
right side of the virtual room.) It
does not differentiate avatars so it is
basically where you sit, and not guy or
girl in that this or that spot.
There is also an option that lets
you choose if you want your table to pop
up and override all windows if its your
turn to act. Normally, you have no
control and if you are playing multiple
tables; one will pop up. I do not like
this. I can only handle four tables max
if I am trying to rake rush and it gets
hectic. Honest to goodness, I have
accidently folded pocket rockets, and a
nut straight flop. Over at hollywood
poker, you can turn the table pop ups
off (much rejoicing...yay).
I will continue to bonus chase but
when and if I run out of pokersites and
the bonuses they give when you sign up;
I intend to make hollywoodpoker my home
for recreational play. For profit play;
well, I am not good enough to be at that
point yet. Then again, if you are good
enough; I guess it doesn't really
matter.
