Texas Hold'em Hand Play-By-Play Example - Pocket Rockets
Here is an example of playing the best possible two cards - Pocket Rockets!
As mentioned in other areas of this site, we recommend pre-flop raising with
this hand. I like to get some action, but not too much action. The amount
of the raise to get some action depends on the table.

*I'm in the small blind, so I will be second to last to act in this first
betting round.
Pre-flop:
Player4 raises to $1. Player5 folds. Player6 folds.
Player7 folds. Player8 calls. Player9 calls.
Player0 folds. Player1 folds. Flop Turn River re-raises to
$3. Player3 folds. Player4 calls. Player8
folds. Player9 calls.
*Looks like I will be getting some action on this hand. Player4 raises a $1,
Player9 calls, I re-raise $3. I figure both players have decent hands and at
least one of them will call my raise. Both players call. The fact that I am
not re-raised tells me that no one is holding KK or AA - not that I care too
much since I have AA.
Flop (board: 2d Qh 8c):
*Flop is nice, no two suited cards, no straight, no pairs. My hand looks to be
the best hand. The pot is already decent, I bet an amount that is callable since
I do not fear the board.
Flop Turn River bets $4. Player4 calls. Player9 calls.
*I bet $4 and both players call. Very nice, I'm hoping they both have a pair of
Queens.
Turn (board: 2d Qh 8c 7d):
*I figure the pot is good, the board is still non-threatening, I go ALL IN with the
rest of my chips:
Flop Turn River goes all-in for $6.05. Player4 goes all-in
for $16.25. Player9 folds. Player4 is returned
$10.20 (uncalled).
*This is not good. After I go ALL-IN, Player4 raises $10, and goes ALL-IN also!
He is hoping that Player9 calls his bet - so Player4 thinks he has the best hand.
River (board: 2d Qh 8c 7d Ah):
(no action in this round)
*Wow! I hit another Ace on the river. Now I have the NUTS! There is no possible
way for me to lose the hand now.
Showdown:
Player4 shows Qc Qs.
Player4 has Qc Qs Qh 8c Ah: three queens.
Flop Turn River shows Ac Ad.
Flop Turn River has Ac Ad Qh 8c Ah: three aces.
*Wow again! Player4 had a pair of Queens and flopped 3-of-a-kind! Unfortunately
for him, I made trips on the river to beat his trips. You might think I got lucky
to hit this card, but really, Player4 got lucky to his card as well. So, in the end,
the better hand still held up. I'll take it. Nice pot.
Hand #608861-5220 Summary:
