Play by Play - All-in with KK
|
If you've read my Pre-flop Strategy - Groups 0 to 2
Essay, then you know that KK is one of those hands that you should be prepared to go all-in on pre-flop. This may sound obvious to some of you, but I know there are others that I've spoken to that think this is "risky". Isn't there some risk to every aspect of poker?! Of course, there is risk of running into AA, I've lost KK all-in against AA many times. I've never laid my KK down to AA pre-flop - does this make me a poor player? I don't know, but I've also never laid my KK down against QQ, JJ, TT, AK, and AQ, played similarly, and have been able to take down monster pots.
So, what I am saying is, suck it in and go for it with KK.
In the below hand, I am seated in middle position. There is a lot of action pre-flop on this hand. A limper,
followed by a raise, followed by a re-raise, and then to me, which I re-raised again. Then the action went back around
to the initial raiser, who re-raised, then to the next opponent who re-raised again, and back to me! The pot is nice,
no need to conceal anything, I go all-in knowing I'll have callers. Sure it crossed
my mind that one of my opponents was holding pocket rockets, but really what I was thinking about was how I'll be
taking all their chips! Check it out:
