Fatima Moreira de Melo

The Netherlands native Fatima Moreira de Melo is a one-of-a-kind of woman that possesses a hat-trick of desirable features: smart, athletic, and has the looks to complement that awesome package.

Not much is known of her early life, but she did burst on the scene in the quite literal sense due to her abilities in a sport, which is relatively obscure worldwide, but sure is big in the Netherlands. The sport in question is Women's Field Hockey.

Fatima quickly rose up the ranks in Women's Field Hockey, and played for the clubs Tempo '34, HGC and the HC Rotterdam. Because she was so talented, she also made the Dutch National Women's Field Hockey team for which she has 150+ caps and scored 34 goals on international levels of play. Her debut game was on October 21st, 1997 in a match between The Netherlands and Germany. The Netherlands won the match 2-1.

She has proven to be a winner on the field, being part of the Olympic Gold medal Dutch Women's Field Hockey team in Beijing 2008. In fact, in each of her 3 world cups the Dutch Women's Field Hockey team made the winner's circle, with a bronze medal in Sydney 2000 and a silver medal in Athens 2004. She earned recognition for her endeavors on the pitch, and even earned the "Rotterdam Sportswoman of the Year" award in 2006. On January 31st, 2009, Fatima announced that she was done playing hockey and retired from the sport.

Fatima proved to not be just a one-trick (but quite fiercely competitive) pony however, and being blessed with good looks made it quite easy for her to debut on the national entertainment stage. She has presented TV programs for both local and national TV stations, appeared in numerous commercials, spots, and even in a long-running Dutch soap called "Onderweg Naar Morgen". And yes, she can sing too, as demonstrated by the fact that she performed the song for the International Hockey Federation's International Year of the Youth at the closing of the 2001 Men's World Cup Hockey Qualifier in Edinburgh. Oh, and I forgot to mention that she has posed for FHM magazine, and was named Babe of the Year in 2007 by the website Mokkels.nl.

And smart. Yes, as mentioned before, Fatima proves that what certain people say about blonde women is material for a myth-busters show. Fatima is the holder of a Master of Law degree which is quite an achievement in and of itself, yet for Fatima it is just another bullet in her rather long list of incredible achievements.

And to that list we must now add poker, as Fatima has recently signed with online giant PokerStars to be a Pro. Her boyfriend Raemon Sluiter, himself being a tennis pro and also quite an avid poker player, introduced her to the game. It is also rumored that Fatima is getting coaching by fellow PokerStars pro's Lex "RasZi" Veldhuis and Ruben "rubenrtv" Visser.

Fatima surprised everyone when she earned herself a spot on the 2009 Amsterdam Master Classics of Poker final table, busting out in 9th place in the €6,000 buy-in event taking home €32,832 for her efforts. Online, she took down a large $11 buy-in tournament for $2308, which is quite a feat as everyone knows small buy-in tourneys are quite challenging because of all the minefields in your way. But she has shown an aptitude to avoid them and make it deep.

Clearly, she knows how to play, so it will be just a matter of time before she can add "WSOP Bracelet" to her already long resume.

Fatima will be flying black and red colors instead of her usual orange from now on, and has also traded her hockey stick for pocket cards. And of course, the poker community will always welcome hot babes who can play poker with wide open arms.
