EmpirePoker Highlights
-
30% Initial Deposit Up to $150 -- Use Bonus Code: FTR150
-
NUTS: Empire Poker is on the Party Poker Network, the third largest in the world, so there is always a game running. Small stake games appear to be very soft. Although Sit and Go traffic at Empire Poker isn't the highest on the internet, the competition is very weak. Our $150 bonus is realtively easy to clear for small stake players. Finally, the software is rock solid.
-
BEATS: Unfortunately, Empire Poker is not open to US players. Furthermore, games above $2/$4 NL are tough to come by and even touger to beat.

Empire Poker.com Overview
EmpirePoker is a part of Party Poker, one of the world’s largest poker rooms. Party Poker owns the network and has Empire Poker as a skin to share traffic. Unfortunately, both rooms do not accept US players. Even without players from the United States this is still a great room to check out if you're located elsewhere!
You can take advantage of each of these great poker rooms by signing up to both! Read our sign-up
guidelines for EmpirePoker to learn how!
Empire Poker is licensed and regulated by the Government of Gibraltar. It is easy, safe and secure, offering prompt payouts and lots of games at many different limits (Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo). Stakes start as low as $.01 - $.02 and go all the way up to $250 - $500. Even though they lost their US player base, there are still plenty of players and action across all levels. Of course, most are playing NLHE (mainly in the low-mid stake range), but you will always see action on quite a few tables ranging all the way up to $10/$20 off-peak. During off-peak times the non-Hold'em games can hurt for traffic. Games like PLO have been rising in popularity and will still have a few tables at each level between $10 PLO and $400 PLO running at all times. Stud games are a bit sparse, there may be only 1-2 total games running during non-peak hours.
Empire Poker’s tournament and Sit & Go traffic has rebounded a lot in the last few years. Party/Empire were the tournament dominators back in the pre-UIGEA days but that action has since gone over to PokerStars and Full Tilt. However, you can still find a wide variety of tournaments every month. Their biggest event is the monthly Sunday $1,000,000 guaranteed, which has a $215 buy-in. This is one of the better Sunday tournaments out there as it always seems to have an overlay and there are constantly satellites running starting as low as $1; this adds a lot of fish to the player base! As for other tournaments, they offer various MTTs ranging from $2 ($1000 guaranteed + rebuy), $9 ($5000 guaranteed), $33 ($10,000 guaranteed + rebuy) and so on, up to their largest buy-in $530 ($50,000 guaranteed) throughout the week. The player base isn't as large as it used to be, with an average of 50-500 players for Empire's MTTs and around 7,000 for freerolls. There are a wide variety of Sit and Go's offered at Empire. Starting as low as $1 and going up to $5000, finding one for your bankroll won't be hard. There are hundreds running every 24 hours, most under the $100 level. Empire offers 10 player regular and turbo, 6 max regular and turbo, heads-up, satellites, and STEPs in their SnG selection.
Empire Poker.com Software Interface/Usability
EmpirePoker's software is very easy to use and offers some nice features. EmpirePoker.com's interface is almost identical to PartyPoker's except the color scheme is different (blue). The biggest change is the table layout, which features blocky CG avatars. In the Lobby it's very easy to find the game and stakes you are looking for, and you can sort the list by the size of the average pot, which is very important in table selection strategy. The major difference between Party and Empire is PartyPoker allows players to play up to 16 tables at once. At Empire, players can only open up to 4 tables which will severely limit your ability to clear bonuses and earn player points. You can still cascade or tile your tiles, but they have not yet incorporated the "stack" option PartyPoker uses.
The EmpirePoker table game interface is solid. Although not the prettiest to look at, the software is very stable and has some nice features, such as right clicking on your opponent to take notes, and right clicking on yourself to see your session's statistics. When you take notes on someone, a little yellow sticky note appears on the corner of that opponent. If you sit down at a table and you see someone with yellow sticky note, then you know you've played with them before and wrote yourself a reminder. A simple right-click on the opponent opens the note. The statistics are also a nice feature, but the statistics report is limited to your current session and there’s no way of keeping those statistics averaged over several sessions. Another nice feature while playing at the tables is the ability to resize. This improves playability over a wide range of monitor screens.
Betting is very easy on the No-limit tables: there is a slider that you can use or a text box to type in your bet. The bet amounts and pot amounts show the actual dollar figures under the chips so it is very easy to see the pot and bets and calculate your odds.
There are three action buttons during play - Fold, Check/Call, and Bet/Raise buttons. The buttons change depending on the action. However one drawback is that the Check and Call buttons share the same placement. As a result you may mistakenly call a bet when all you wanted to do was check. It can happen so be careful.
EmpirePoker does lack a good buddy finder (or fish finder). It would be nice to maintain a list of players to keep an eye on and have EmpirePoker tell you what tables they’re playing at. EmpirePoker's Buddy List will inform you if a certain player is logged in, but not where they are. Considering the multitude of tables at Party, it's very difficult to target your fish.
EmpirePoker (like many other poker rooms) offers hand histories which you can save to your computer. Previously, you had to request these via e-mail (a big hassle) but now you can automatically save them and import to Poker Tracker for easy progress.
Overall, the EmpirePoker software interface and usability is very comfortable for the player and they are constantly improving it.
EmpirePoker.com Poker Room Action
Since UIGEA legislation was passed in 2006, EmpirePoker along with PartyPoker have seen a drop-off in their player pools. This is mainly due to the sites shutting their doors to American poker players. While they have lost some customers, they still remain the largest network that does not accept US players. However, Black Friday has caused traffic at Party Poker to surge. At any given time there can be easily more than 10,000 players logged on across the skins which creates a lot of action at the micro, low, and mid-stakes games.
There are plenty of cash game tables up and running around the clock and as long as you aren't a high-stakes professional, you should have little trouble finding a game. The same can be said for SNGs as Empire has a wide variety of games, stakes, and formats that are constantly running.
Empire Poker's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
It is widely known that non-US sites are the fishiest around. EmpirePoker is no exception as their games are quite soft all the way up to the higher limits. You will find a wide variety of fish from over-aggressive maniacs to loose-passive calling stations. Playing a tight-solid game will pay off big time as you clear your bonus and feed off of the overly loose players.
Whether you enjoy playing cash games or SNGs you should have no trouble finding a lot of players that are much worse than you. The largest amount of fish can be found in the $1-$5 buy-in SNGs and the $10-$100nl levels. Games like PLO are also full of players who seem to just be there to gamble.
EmpirePoker.com Bonuses and Promotions
See our EmpirePoker Bonus page for details on clearing your bonus.
New players at EmpirePokerwill want to make sure they take full advantage of their 30% up to $150 initial deposit bonus. This bonus is solid for those looking for a little bankroll help while starting at a new site. In order to claim this bonus you must use the bonus code FTR150 when creating your account at EmpirePoker. In order to clear the bonus you will need to pay rake or fees in real money cash games, SNGs, and multi-table tournaments.
For every pending bonus dollar a player has he/she must play in 60 raked hands. In order to clear the entire bonus ($500 deposit, $150 bonus) you will need to play 9,000 raked hands. Unfortunately there is not a lot of information about the bonus as Empire seems to keep this information hidden. If you would like to learn more about their bonus and VIP system they do have 24/7 support that will be able to answer any and all questions. Remember, in order to get this bonus you have to use the code FTR150 when creating your EmpirePoker account.

Empire Poker.com Customer and Technical Support
We haven't had any major issues with EmpirePoker.com, so we haven't had to use their support very often. The cashouts have been easy and prompt.
Empire Poker.com's support staff is always vigilantly battling online collusion efforts, tracking any player trends and IP addresses that are suspicious. After signing up to EmpirePoker.com (if you are already a member of PartyPoker) you may receive a phone call to confirm the information. This extra diligent effort to prevent account theft makes you feel very comfortable playing at EmpirePoker. Equally reassuring is that EmpirePoker employs a technology that bans one person from playing two spots on a table.
As for e-mail support, they seem a little bit hit or miss. Sometimes you receive a reply to a question within an hour, and other times it can take days. They also have a live chat feature but you need to be a VIP member to use it.

Empire Poker is No Longer a Party on 11 Oct 2005

Looks like the party is over for Empire
poker. Empire Poker and Party Poker has
gone their separate ways. This does not
bode well for Empire Poker, since a
majority of the players and traffic on
the network came from Party. Although
the interface and software is the same,
Party Poker's customer base moved on to
its own network. Instead of a bustling
poker room of 40,000+ players, Empire
had about 8,000 when I last checked.
This will affect the action and the fish
rating for Empire. Time will tell if
Empire will still be a good place to
play, but it certainly isn't my
favorite any more.

Empire Bonus Scam on 23 Jun 2005
Interface:

I have been playing on Empire for about
a year now as well as some other
websites. I have not had any problems
until recently. A couple days ago I
received an e-mail saying that I was
eligible for a 100% redeposit bonus up
to $100. In fact, I got a pop-up saying
the same thing when I signed on. After
depositing, I received an e-mail
confirming that the bonus amount was
added to my bonus account. However, I
noticed that the bonus status was
"elapsed" and contacted customer
support.
Here is the first problem with Empire
Poker, the Customer Service is at best
Terrible. It is impossible to get
immediate assistance. There are is no
telephone support therefore, I was
relegated to e-mail. Upon sending my
e-mail, I received a response about an
hour later, saying that I could not
collect my bonus as I withdrew from my
account 7 days ago and management just
enforced this new rule effective
immediately. NOTICE: This was no where
listed on the disclaimers that all
bonuses had. So, of course I replied
saying how I thought this was "poor
customer service, ete." To make a long
story short I am about 7 e-mails into
this process and have not received any
adeaqute responses. In fact, one e-mail
said I would have my bonus by the end of
the day, while another about an hour
later said the most they could give me
was $10. That should give some insight
into how bad customer serivce there is.
I suggest people go to other websites.
When it comes down to it, there are a
lot of fish on a lot of different sites,
so the little things, or big things LIKE
CUSTOMER SERVICE really matter. True
Poker seems to be a good site. Nice
skin and good immediate customer service
(like you were using AIM). Plus, they
got heads up games which are a nice
touch.

Stop 'rigged site' nonsense on 13 Jun 2005

Guys, please stop this nonsense about
rigged sites. The only (proven) way
sites stole player's money is much
simpler than making biased shuffle -
PokerSpot was the most prominent
example. I'm 100% sure that _none_ of
the big rooms is intentionally rigged.
Once I've made a thorough statistical
check of my hands on PokerStars - and
came up with nothing beyond statistical
expectations. So until somebody will
provide a mathematical proof (rather
than emotional "he got one-outer, it
should NEVER happen, at least not to
me") - I won't even consider such a
possibility. Face it, guys - bad beats
is an integral part of poker. And those
who cannot deal with it, just should not
play poker, ever - there are other ways
to have fun in life.

some of the reviews below have left me
scratching my head. taking advice from
reviews like that is like getting your
news from supermarket tabloids.
it should be pointed out to MJD15826R
that 3 hours in a live game compared to
3 hours online would produce a ratio of
hands played of about 1 to 5. possibly
higher when taking into account that you
can play 4 tables at once online.
therefore the 8 to 40 flushes seen is
mathematically correct. people will
play questionable hands, and a certain
percentage of the time they will win.
that is part of the game.
And, WhiteShark, are you smoking crack?
the hands at party and empire ARE the
same. empire is a skin of party. when
you are playing at an empire table you
are playing against party players as
well.
the site in general is good. the best
feature is the availability of games.
you can find any kind of game at any
level pretty much 24/7. this is a huge
plus and gives you many different levels
of player. if you can't eventually
make money on this site, you should
probably go back to washing dishes at

Stay away from this site on 14 May 2005
Interface:
Action:
Fish:

The frequency of monster hands that come
out at this site are ridiculous.
Straights and flushes come out with much
higher frequency than live games. Often
on showdowns two players will hit
flushes. This site reels in the fish
because idiots that don't know how to
play hit monster hands and that
encourages them to keep playing. So
often the so-called "fish" are the big
winners. You will not improve your poker
skills here unless you go play the very
high limit games. If you play
tournaments you'll find players will
call with crap and often win. It's not
uncommon for some ass with 4-6 suited to
hit a flush all in while two other
players with high pocket pairs will get
beat with 3 of a kind after the flop.
The first night I played here I played a
combination of 10 (6) 10/1 , (2) 20/2
and (2) 30/3 sit and go's , winning 5
of them and having a top 3 finish in 8.
I withdrew half my winnings and over the
next month won only a single $250 multi
table tournament in about 30 tournaments
(only 2 final tables) and finished first
in a 10/1 sit and go table only once in
maybe 25 tries. Thinking maybe it was me
I went to a live tournament 100/20 in
Atlantic City and had a money finish
first time out. In three hours of live
play maybe 8 flushed came out. At Empire
in 3 hours you'll see maybe 40. An
example of a ridiculous beat would be
Having 3 kings prior to the turn and
having a player with pocket 7's hit a 7
on the turn and then the river. If you
are going to play here , then put a lot
of money in and don't make withdrawals
for a long time. If you keep putting in
the $50 minimum every so often , you'll
never win. The only positive thing I can
say is the graphics at the table look
nice. Also expect frequent disconnects
and long waits when you're in the top
40 of a tournament waiting on other
tables. The initial bonus is easy to
get.

In my first half hour of Empire I was
playing NL and saw AA vs AA preflop,
which I have seen very little in the
thousands of hands I've played online.
Then to top that off there was an AA vs
AA vs KK preflop, which I have never
seen. In the midst of all this I got
pocket Qs losers twice, that were cold
called preflop by low suited connectors.
It really made me think about the party
poker juiced deck theory. Eventually,
however, the low level of play came to
my advantage as I was able to cash in
against a slow played pocket pair with a
flush on the river that I didn't even
have to to pay to see and that was
called all in once made.

Empire Poker comes out with better

I like Empire Poker the best of all the
Party skins. In fact, I like Empire
Poker more than any other online poker
room at the time of this writing. I
know people mention the interface is
dated, and maybe they are right, but
really, how pretty does a poker table
need to be? Does that even really
matter? The only issue I have with the
interface is that the lobby does not
show pre-flop %'s, only average pot
size. With regards to the action and
fish, Empire has the most... although it
has become a better mix of fish and
skilled players. Hopefully, you find
the fish because they get eaten up
pretty quickly. The bonus is great and
easy to earn. Empire also occasionally
has reload bonuses and player points for
a VIP section.

Interface and Usabilitiy of this poker
room is top notch. If you have ever
played at party poker this is an
identical setup. The poker room action
is great with around 35-50k players on
at any given time. The table sorting
function is very easy to use so you can
find any game you want in a couple of
seconds. Also has a feature to hide
full tables which is nice.
Technical/Customer support leaves
something to be desired. Could be a lot
worse but you dont get a personal feel
when you email back and forth with. 95%
of responses seem to be pregenerated
which is to be expected with as many
players as they have. They do hook you
up though if you bug them and will often
give you a bonus code simply by asking
for one if you dont have one available
at the time. For this reason they get a
4. If it wasnt for that they would get
a 3.
Bonus setup is very sweet. They often
have redeposit bonuses and the intial
20% up to 100 initial deposit bonus
cannot be beat. You only have to play
5x the bonus amount in raked hands which
is the easiest bonus out of all poker
rooms to clear by far. You can clear
your bonus your first day with very
little difficulty. With playing 4
tables at the same time it can be done
in 3 hours.
Ease of Game is also very phat at this
site. At the 25NL tables they are
loaded with fish. I cant speak on their
limit games but their NL games are very
lucrative. I have been playing there
for 5 months maybe now and the fish
continually get replaced with new ones.
Havent noticed any increased difficulty
there. Maybe people get better and move
up and limits and I just keep taking the
rolls of all the new players. Makes no
difference to me I have done very well
there.
Check it out for sure it will be worth
your time!!!
