CURACAO, Netherland Antilles -- Liebert Captured Poker's Battle of the Sexes and Appears in Fox Poker SuperStars' in March
Fresh off a stunning victory in televised poker's Battle of the Sexes Friday, Kathy Liebert -- one of the all time leading female money winners in professional poker -- has joined PartyPoker.com as its spokeswoman.
With her decisive win Liebert has vaulted into the public eye. On a show that aired on March 4, she prevailed over 11 men and women in GSN's Poker Royale: Battle of the Sexes, claiming a $100,000 first prize and female supremacy in a traditionally male bastion. On March 13th when the next round of Fox's Poker SuperStars takes to the air Liebert will take to the felt against a lineup of top poker pros.
The Poker Royale: Battle of the Sexes is far from Liebert's first trip to the victory circle. In March 2002 she became the first woman to win a tournament with more than $1 million in prize money at the inaugural PartyPoker.com Million.
Liebert joins as a spokeswoman just in time for PartyPoker.com Million IV which takes place on a ship cruising the Mexican Riviera. The tournament will include Liebert and 750 other hopefuls vying for a prize purse in excess of $7 million and is being filmed for the World Poker Tour on The Travel Channel. The tournament cruise departs from San Diego Harbor on Saturday, March 19, 2005 on Holland America's ms Oosterdam.
Liebert also recently won the $1,500 Hold 'Em Shoot Event at the 2004 World Series of Poker, claiming a $110,180 paycheck and joining the elite World Series bracelet winners. In addition to her two career highlights, she has been in the money at more than two dozen major international poker tournaments and has amassed more than $2 million tournament winnings in seven years of play.
A graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, with a degree in business and finance, Liebert is known for her cool, incisive play and her professional demeanor. Once a Dunn & Bradstreet executive, she "discarded" the corporate world for the world of cards. After building a nest egg playing the stock market, Liebert took a chance and began playing in the card rooms of the Colorado Rockies, where she started with $5 Limit Poker.
A friend encouraged Liebert to try her hand at tournament poker, and she entered a top tournament in Las Vegas. She surprised herself, finishing second in her first tournament, which featured Omaha, another popular form of poker. A week later she entered her first Texas Hold'em tournament and placed second for another paycheck. Over the years, she has built up a reputation as a feared and respected competitor in the extremely challenging world of tournament poker.

Three "Final Table" Alumni Win $10,000 Entry in World Poker Tour Tournament Published: 2005-03-01
Three "Final Table" Alumni Win $10,000 Entry in World Poker Tour Tournament
Market Wire, March, 2005
The inaugural Final Table Seminar, sponsored by UltimateBet.com and hosted by The Poker Camp, an innovator in poker education for enthusiasts, delivered on its promise of "Learn from the best, beat the rest." Three students -- J. Burns, Brenda McCracken, and Paul Serekis -- graduated from the Final Table Seminar and immediately proceeded to work their way through an open, satellite tournament and win coveted, $10,000 seats in the upcoming World Poker Tournament (WPT) Bay 101 Shooting Stars tournament.
Held in San Jose, CA on February 25 and 26, 2005, the Final Table Seminar offered students a full day and a half of poker seminars, workshops, and practice sessions that focused on No-Limit Texas Hold'em. Poker stars Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari and Lee Jones were the featured guest speakers. Students then played in an exclusive, mock graduation tournament for valuable prizes. The top three finishers, J. Burns, Jack Martin, and Brenda McCracken, won free $1,040 seats in the WPT Super Satellite tournament that was held at Bay 101 on February 27, 2005. Mr. Serekis completed the seminar and paid for his entry.
Competition in the WPT Super Satellite tournament was extremely intense because the top six finishers earned complimentary berths in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars event to be held March 7 through March 11, 2005. The entry fee for this televised event is normally $10,000 and the winner receives $1,000,000 in cash and a $25,300 seat in the WPT Championship No-Limit Hold'em Event.
Mr. Martin, the Final Table Seminar graduation tournament champion, did well in the WPT Super Satellite tournament, and held the chip lead at one point, but was ultimately knocked out by well known professionals, including Men "The Master" Nguyen and Millie Shiu. Mr. Burns, Ms. McCracken, and Mr. Serekis did even better, using their newfound knowledge and skills to reach the final table of a hotly contested spread-limit tournament and will now have a chance to realize every poker enthusiast's dream: to play against the best poker players in the world in a real World Poker Tour event.
All four credited The Poker Camp and The Final Table Seminar for elevating their skills and enabling them to make it to a final table.
"As a poker newbie, but also a poker junkie over the last eight months or so, I've read all the books, magazines, online sites, etc., and have had some modest success with the game at my local card room and on www.pokerstars.com and www.ultimatebet.com -- my two favorite online sites. But after two intensive days with Antonio and Lee, it was like the books finally made sense!" said McCracken. "Going to the Bay 101 Super Satellite was nerve-racking on the inside, but I was cool on the outside. My strategy was, 'what would Antonio do?' and I did it! To put the three of us into the money proves again that Antonio is truly a magician!"
"I had a great time," said Martin. "I loved the staff and it was a good group of students. Lee Jones really pounds it into your head and drives home the point. If you stick with what he says, your game will be greatly improved."
"I may have watched a billion hours of poker on television and only played for a little over a year at home tournaments, but even I made it to the final table after a weekend seminar with Antonio Esfandiari," said Burns. "The Poker Camp turned me into a poker champ!"
The Poker Camp is currently planning the next Final Table Seminar in May of 2005 in South Lake Tahoe, CA. For the latest details, please visit www.thepokercamp.com, email info@thepokercamp.com, or call The Poker Camp at 209-830-6556.
