Online poker is full of newbies, but did you know it was full of nudies as well? Well, it's true, at least according to PaddyPowerPoker.com, the poker wing of Irish betting company Paddy Power. Paddy Power Poker just released this interesting tidbit, along with several others, as a prelude to the official publication of its “Poker 2006: The State of Play” report next month. Accordingly, the study found that more than half of surveyed poker players saying that they had played poker in nothing but their drawers or, uh, in nothing at all.

“Poker 2006” also found that the players surveyed like poker a gosh darn lot. And I mean a lot- more than sex, a lot. Astonishingly, a monumental 60 percent of the participants said they would rather play poker than have sex. Along those same lines, about a third of the surveyed players said that, for a million bucks, they would feel compelled to give up their significant others. Poker players really do have a one-track mind.

Apparently, a good number of poker players are ducking out of various personal commitments to shuffle up and deal. Indeed, close to 40 percent of the participants said that they had fibbed for the chance of playing poker.

A particularly odd factoid, about 10 percent of the participants physically hurt themselves mid-play.

If this is any indication of the type of statistics to be released in the final study, I can only imagine what else awaits.

Will Brit online casino gambling group's online poker network membership be affected?

Just one of the possible consequences of Ongame's acquisition by Australian Bet And Win concerns the vast Ongame Poker Network... specifically the continued membership of UK online casino and gambling group Coral Eurobet.

Coral Eurobet only joined the Ongame network in November after Party Poker distanced itself from its "poker skins", leaving Coral out in the cold. As one of Bet and Win’s main competitors in the European sports betting market, Coral Eurobet could be averse to sharing its online poker product with a major rival and the concomitant risk of losing customers to the Bet and Win/Ongame sports and poker platform.

Gambling industry observers are expecting Coral Eurobet to leave the Ongame network sooner rather than later. Speculation suggests Bet and Win’s main priority will be its poker customers and the fact that it will own all the proprietary Ongame technology will be viewed as a threat to any network partner that also operates online sportsbooks and is in direct competition with it.
